Extra: Lu Yannan & Pei Mo Ning (12)
On Saturday morning, sunlight slanted into the restaurant.
Lu Yannan sat at the dining table in a neat black sportswear. The well-tailored fabric vaguely outlined his broad shoulders and tight waistline.
The morning light cast a light gold tint on his slightly pursed lips, and his profile was clean and sharp, without any unnecessary expression.
He lowered his head and ate breakfast quietly.
Lu Chixu, who had just come down the stairs, yawned. He caught sight of his brother's outfit and paused, his face filled with confusion. "Brother? Why are you dressed so smartly on this weekend?"
He scratched his messy hair and said, "Practicing?"
Lu Yannan didn't even raise his eyelids, concentrating on chewing his food, as if he didn't hear anything.
Lu Chixu curled his lips, pulled out a chair and sat down, taking a big sip of milk, his eyes still glued to Lu Yannan.
He watched his elder brother quickly finish the last bit of food, picked up the napkin to wipe the corner of his mouth, then stood up, picked up the coat on the back of the chair and was about to leave.
Just as Lu Yannan was about to leave the restaurant, Lu Chixu suddenly slapped his thigh, suddenly realizing something and said in a long tone: "Oh~ Let's go on a date!"
Lu Yannan's footsteps stopped instantly.
He turned his back to Lu Chixu, remained silent for a second, then turned around abruptly and shot him a sharp look with a hint of warning as if he had been exposed.
Lu Chixu shrank his neck and chuckled twice.
Lu Yannan didn't say anything, but his eyes became even colder. Then he turned back quickly and left the restaurant in a hurry.
But... he seemed to turn his head a little too quickly. The moment the light shifted, Lu Chixu noticed with his sharp eyes that a suspicious red quickly spread across his ears.
......
The engine started and the black car drove smoothly out of the garage.
The car drove steadily on the road leading to Pei Mening Community.
Lu Yannan's bony fingers rested on the steering wheel, and the car was very quiet.
He hesitated for a moment and tapped the car screen with his fingertips.
A familiar melody flowed out, it was "Easily".
Last night in Pei Mo Ning's car, this song easily touched my heart.
But at this moment, in the clear morning light, in the carriage where he was alone, the wonderful chemical reaction disappeared.
Only the slightly thin melody remained, echoing in the silence.
Lu Yannan frowned, seeming a little confused and a little lost.
The car stopped silently at the entrance of Pei Mo Ning's community.
Lu Yannan picked up the phone and dialed the number he knew by heart.
It rang three times before being picked up.
"Hello?" Pei Mo Ning's clear voice came.
"Are you done packing?" Lu Yannan spoke, his voice as steady as ever.
A chuckle came from the other end: "I've packed it up a long time ago and am waiting for you."
"Well, come down." Lu Yannan paused, his eyes swept across the branches swaying in the wind outside the window, and added: "It's windy today, so wear a scarf."
There was a moment of silence on the other end of the phone, and then Pei Mo Ning's voice, with a hint of teasing, rang out: "Lu Yannan...are you concerned about me?"
Lu Yannan's Adam's apple rolled slightly.
He looked at the traffic passing in front of him and tightened his grip on the phone.
After a few seconds of silence, he squeezed out a single syllable from his nose: "Hmm."
Then, there was another brief silence.
"Okay, got it. I'll be right down." Pei Mo Ning's smile deepened.
Not long after, Pei Mo Ning appeared at the entrance of the community.
She was also wearing a comfortable sportswear, with a short, lightweight, light-colored down jacket on the outside. A soft beige scarf was loosely wrapped around her neck, which made her jawline look even softer.
She opened the car door and sat in the passenger seat, bringing in a gust of crisp cool air.
Lu Yannan's gaze lingered on her neatly tied scarf for a moment, a hint of satisfaction flashed across his eyes, and then he quickly returned to calm.
He turned down the volume of the car music and asked, "Have you had breakfast?"
"Yeah." Pei Mo Ning fastened his seat belt.
The car started and drove towards the mountains on the outskirts of the city.
The two chatted briefly about road conditions and weather.
Apart from the low sound of music in the carriage, there was the two people's shallow breathing, flowing ambiguously as if through an invisible membrane.
......
The parking lot at the bottom of the hill was empty.
Lu Yannan turned off the engine, pushed the door and got out of the car.
The mountain wind was cold, bringing with it the chill of the grass and trees.
He went around to the back seat, took out the waterproof dark gray jacket he had prepared and put it on.
When he turned around to close the car door, he met the gaze of Pei Mo Ning who had just gotten out of the passenger seat.
She just looked at him, her eyes shining.
After Lu Yannan put on his windbreaker, his tall figure looked particularly neat and handsome in the early morning light. The open collar of the windbreaker revealed the close-fitting black turtleneck quick-drying shirt underneath, outlining the smooth lines of his neck and shoulders.
Pei Mo Ning felt his heartbeat inexplicably quicken.
She tilted her head, looked at his uncovered neck, and suddenly said, "Lu Yannan, remember to let me wear a scarf..."
She hooked the scarf around her neck with her fingertips: "How come you forgot it yourself?"
Lu Yannan was stunned for a moment, then looked at her, his eyes falling on the scarf loosely draped around her neck.
He suddenly chuckled, and his low voice was particularly clear in the wind.
Pei Mo Ning's heart skipped a beat, and before she could react, Lu Yannan had already strode towards her.
The distance was instantly shortened, and one could clearly feel the slightly cold and refreshing aura from the other person.
Lu Yannan raised his hand to adjust her scarf. His slender fingers naturally fell on her neck, and his fingertips inadvertently rubbed a small piece of delicate and warm skin below her earlobe.
Pei Mo Ning's breathing was slightly hitched, and the places where he touched felt like they were electrocuted and caused a slight tremor.
She didn't move, but raised her head slightly, looking straight at Lu Yannan's face.
Lu Yannan seemed unaware of it. He focused on carefully arranging the scarf and tucking it into the collar of her down jacket.
The movements were not particularly gentle, even a little clumsy, but very serious.
At the moment when the scarf was adjusted, Pei Mo Ning seemed to be pulled by something invisible.
She suddenly raised her hand, and her fingertips lightly and briefly touched the back of Lu Yannan's hand as he was about to retract it, very quickly.
They separated in an instant, like a dragonfly skimming the water.
Lu Yannan was about to withdraw his hand when it suddenly stopped.
The skin on the back of the hand seemed to be instantly burned by a scorching spark.
The touch was too clear and brief, yet too hot, so much so that the feeling lingered for a few seconds after the hand was withdrawn, with a numbness and an unignorable heat.
He lowered his eyes, looked at the back of his hand, his Adam's apple moved silently, and then he put his hand down as if nothing had happened.
The mountain wind was still howling, and the air between the two seemed to be stagnant.
"Let's go." Lu Yannan turned around first and broke the silence. His voice sounded no different from usual.
"Yeah." Pei Mo Ning responded with his head down, raised his hand to pull up the scarf to cover half of his slightly hot face, and quickly followed.
