"Stop with your clever words. Do you think I don't know what you're thinking?"
But he still sheathed his sword.
Seeing this, Consort Hui secretly breathed a sigh of relief, tears streaming down her face.
"Your Majesty, I was wrong. I should not have plotted against the Empress."
But you can't blame me. I just love you too much. I just want you to only have eyes for me. Is that wrong?
"Your Majesty, I only want you to feel better, and I don't want you to be caught up in the turmoil and pain of the past. Is that wrong?"
Consort Hui's words were piercing, and Emperor Rongcheng gradually calmed down from his initial anger.
He looked at Consort Hui and snorted coldly.
"Don't try to argue with me. No one knows my feelings for A-Hao better than you, yet you want to harm her? This isn't for my sake; it's clearly to harm me!"
Consort Hui immediately knelt down and stepped forward.
"But she's not good enough for him!"
"She is not worthy of Your Majesty's love!"
"She doesn't love you at all, she's never cared about you at all. Otherwise, why would she have locked herself in Jingyu Palace for so many years and ignored you completely?"
"Because she doesn't care about you, she doesn't care about your joys and sorrows at all."
"Your Majesty, I really can't bear to see you serving me so diligently because of just one sentence from her."
"You are His Majesty!"
"Therefore, I will risk your punishment to help you kill her!"
Consort Hui wept bitterly, her words earnest and sincere.
Emperor Rongcheng glanced at her, then turned his head away and shouted angrily.
"Foolish!"
"idiot!"
He finished speaking and sighed, his tone softening considerably.
"No matter what, you can't touch her!"
"No one can touch her, you know that?"
Consort Hui nodded hastily.
"Your Majesty, I was wrong. I misunderstood at the time. Now I have figured it out, so I am trying my best to make amends. Look at this antidote, I have made it. Your Majesty, please give it to the Empress."
"Once her poison is cured, Your Majesty can then punish me!"
Consort Hui knelt on the ground, holding the "antidote" high above her head with a devout attitude.
Emperor Rongcheng glanced at her, then took the antidote and strode away.
After Emperor Rongcheng left, Consort Hui smiled with satisfaction.
"What are your feelings for her?"
"Oh!"
"I'd like to see what you'll do when you find out you poisoned the woman you loved most."
Emperor Rongcheng arrived at Jingyu Palace with the newly obtained "antidote" from Consort Hui, but he couldn't find Jiang Xianhao for a long time.
He searched every room in Jingyu Palace, growing increasingly worried, and finally found Jiang Xianhao sitting quietly in the storeroom.
"Ah-hao?"
Jiang Xianhao turned around, her eyebrows and eyes curved, her lips slightly upturned, and sunlight shone in from outside, falling on her eyebrows and eyes.
It was as if a layer of gold had been gilded on her face, making her incomparably beautiful and ethereal.
And the smile on her lips was just like it was back then.
Emperor Rongcheng's heart started pounding uncontrollably again.
He slowly walked up to Jiang Xianhao, squatted down in front of her, and looked up at her.
He spoke in a low voice, afraid of disturbing her.
"Ah Hao, what are you doing here?"
Jiang Xianhao continued to laugh.
"I remembered something, so I came to take a look."
As she spoke, she handed the items in her hands to Emperor Rongcheng one by one.
Emperor Rongcheng looked down and the first thing he saw was a box.
The box isn't very nice; it looks quite old, it's dirty, and it has some other marks on it.
He frowned slightly.
"What's this?"
Jiang Xianhao paused for a moment, then smiled and continued, "Don't you remember? This is the box you used to keep earthworms back then!"
"The earthworms I was raising here were almost alive, but I fed them to death."
Jiang Xianhao sighed with some regret as he spoke.
Emperor Rongcheng paused, looked up in disbelief, and tightened his grip on the box.
And those words from back then, following the traces of time, suddenly resurfaced in his ears.
"Ah Hao, don't marry Li Wenci. He has other women, and the love he can give you is only a tiny fraction."
But I'm different, Ah Hao. I'm an emperor now, but my heart belongs only to you.
"Ah Hao, I promise I will never have another woman in the future. I will love you with all my heart."
So, will you marry me?
Jiang Xianhao's laughter echoed in his ears.
"You fool, I already told you, if you catch a hundred earthworms and then use those hundred earthworms to catch a hundred koi fish, I'll marry you."
The words from the past seemed to echo in his ears, yet they caused Emperor Rongcheng's face to turn pale instantly.
"Ah Hao..."
His throat was dry, and he managed to utter two words with difficulty, his face showing an unprecedented level of embarrassment.
Jiang Xianhao stood up, laughing as she tossed the box aside.
"I saw it by accident. It's already dirty, Your Majesty, please don't touch it."
As she spoke, she casually tossed the box aside.
A loud "clang" made Emperor Rongcheng's heart tremble.
His eyes were involuntarily drawn to the box, and he looked over at it uncontrollably.
But Jiang Xianhao pulled him up and led him out of the warehouse.
Standing in the courtyard, looking at Jiang Xianhao's face, Emperor Rongcheng felt much better.
He quickly took out the "antidote" from his hand.
"Okay, this is the antidote. Take it quickly, and you'll feel much better after you take it."
Jiang Xianhao nodded, looking at the pills in her hand, and then suddenly looked up.
"Your Majesty, I'm a little scared. May I not eat?"
"The imperial physician said that I don't need to take the antidote now."
Emperor Rongcheng, however, thought Jiang Xian was just being petty and raised his voice.
"Ah, I know you're holding onto the things from back then. But what happened to Consort Hui was an accident. I wanted to explain it to you, but it's all in the past now, so please don't dwell on it anymore, okay?"
"No matter what, you can't go against your body. This antidote needs to be taken for seven days to detoxify you. This is only the first day, you must take it."
A hint of mockery flashed in Jiang Xianhao's eyes.
Being petty and calculating?
Seeing that Jiang Xianhao's expression was not good, Emperor Rongcheng softened his tone and comforted him:
"I know you don't like taking medicine, so I specially ordered someone to prepare some candied fruit for you. Eat one right after you finish eating this."
As Emperor Rongcheng spoke, he personally placed the "antidote" into Jiang Xianhao's mouth.
Jiang Xianhao looked up at him, her eyes unblinking, and then slowly swallowed the pill.
She slowly closed her eyes, and Emperor Rongcheng breathed a sigh of relief.
He immediately gave Jiang Xianhao a candied fruit to eat.
"Alright, you'll feel better after taking the medicine. I'll come again tomorrow and feed you myself."
