Chapter Twenty-Three: Forcing Her to Die

She was now looking forward to seeing Gu Jingchun's reaction when he returned home and couldn't find his son.

After looking around, Emperor Rongcheng gave a wink to Dexi, the eunuch beside him.

Dexi understood and immediately opened the imperial edict and began to read it aloud.

By the mandate of Heaven, the Emperor decrees:

I observe that throughout the land, talented individuals and virtuous women abound. In this peaceful and prosperous age, a good match is all the more precious. There is Luo Ziqian, born into the Luo family of the Minister's Mansion, who is highly talented, ambitious, virtuous, and a pillar of the nation; and there is Gu Jingchun, born into the Gu family of the Marquis of Yong'an, who is gentle, dignified, exceptionally intelligent, and adept at managing a household, and whose good reputation is widespread.

However, he still felt that she was calm at this moment.

Moreover, he saw in her a composure that suggested it should be this way, that everything was as she expected.
