Zuixianlou (Drunken Immortal Pavilion)
Song Zhiyu and Ling Wushuang sat in the best private room in Zuixianlou. While waiting for all the dishes to be served, Song Zhiyu casually leaned against the window of the room, looking down at the lively scene below.
Their room was indeed the best private room in Zuixianlou, with an excellent view, directly facing the largest medical clinic in the capital, and they could even clearly see how many people were inside.
Seeing Song Zhiyu staring intently in one direction, Ling Wushuang became interested. She put down her wine glass, walked over to Song Zhiyu, and followed her gaze. "Interested in a clinic? Why not open your own? With your superb medical skills, many people will surely come seeking your expertise."
"I have this idea, but I haven't put it into action yet." Song Zhiyu shrugged helplessly. She still had many things to do, so she could only postpone the clinic matter again and again.
“Besides, opening a clinic requires a lot of effort…” Song Zhiyu suddenly paused, staring intently at the clinic’s entrance, a hint of uncertainty in her eyes.
"What's wrong?" Ling Wushuang asked, noticing the change in her expression, and couldn't help but turn her gaze toward the entrance of the clinic.
She only saw a woman in white wearing a veil walking hurriedly out of the clinic, as if a ghost was chasing her.
Apart from that, there was nothing else unusual.
"I think I saw someone I know." She was a little uncertain.
As soon as Song Zhiyu finished speaking, a series of muffled yet slightly hurried footsteps followed.
A group of soldiers in armor searched the shops one by one on the street, leaving no corner unchecked. The scale of their search was astonishing.
Ling Wushuang recognized the soldiers at a glance, her delicate brows furrowing slightly. "Aren't those the Xuantian Guards under Xiao Xun's command? What happened that even the Xuantian Guards have been mobilized?"
Upon hearing Xiao Xun's name, Song Zhiyu's expression hardened. She suddenly remembered the woman in white who had just come out of the clinic; no wonder she looked familiar.
"Wushuang, I'm going out for a bit, I'll be right back." After saying this, without waiting for Ling Wushuang's reply, Song Zhiyu hurriedly left the private room and headed straight for West Street.
*
West Street.
Ye Linxi hid at the alley entrance, her back pressed tightly against the wall, listening to the approaching footsteps, cold sweat pouring down her forehead.
She had finally escaped from the Marquis's mansion and finally broken free from Xiao Xun's control; she absolutely could not let him catch her again.
The Xuantian Guard soldiers were just three meters away from her, carefully searching every shop.
Seeing that they were about to reach the alley entrance, Ye Linxi held her breath and was about to leave through another exit when she was horrified to find that the other exit was also full of Xuan Tian Guards. She had nowhere to escape.
What made her even more desperate was that Xiao Xun had already ridden his horse to West Street, his tall figure facing her at an angle.
Even from just seeing Xiao Xun's back, Ye Linxi could sense the barely suppressed violence and anger emanating from him.
Thinking of Xiao Xun's methods, Ye Linxi trembled all over and couldn't help but shiver.
He wouldn't use the cruel methods he used on prisoners on her, but his methods in bed weren't much better.
Ye Linxi gritted her teeth, clutching her clothes tightly with both hands, barely daring to breathe, afraid of being discovered.
"Sir, there's no one here."
"My lord, I haven't found any trace of Miss Biao either."
"Keep searching." The cold voice reached Ye Linxi's ears. She didn't even need to look to know that Xiao Xun's expression must be extremely ugly at this moment.
The consequences of being caught and taken back by him are predictable.
Xiao Xun's sharp eyes scanned the surroundings, but he did not find anything unusual.
Just as he tightened the reins and was about to leave, a faint sound coming from the alley entrance caught his attention.
"Go take a look over there," he said, pointing casually to a soldier.
Hearing the approaching footsteps, Ye Linxi's breath hitched, and fine beads of sweat seeped from her forehead. She almost couldn't suppress the panic in her heart.
The soldier could spot her as soon as he turned the corner; she had nowhere to hide.
Seeing the shadow so close, Ye Linxi bit her lower lip, steeled herself and was about to walk out when someone suddenly grabbed her shoulder.
"Zhiyu, what are you doing here?" Ye Linxi asked in shock, lowering her voice the moment Song Zhiyu shook her head at her.
At the same time, the soldier had already walked around the corner and arrived at the alley entrance. His eyes lit up when he saw her.
Just as he was about to call for help, Song Zhiyu threw a handful of powder in his face, and his eyes instantly went blank.
"You didn't see anything."
As if receiving an order, the soldier turned and left, acting no differently than an ordinary person.
"Reporting to you, sir, there were only a few stray cats in that alley, and it was they who made the sound just now." At this moment, he had returned to normal, but there was a blank memory in his mind.
Upon hearing this explanation, Ye Linxi was completely astonished, never expecting the powder to be so potent.
At this moment, her gaze towards Song Zhiyu was surprisingly bright.
But things were clearly not over yet. Xiao Xun frowned, his lips pressed into a straight line, as if an invisible force was pulling him toward the alley entrance.
Xiao Xun sneered, pulled on the reins and turned the direction around, "A wildcat? I'd like to see what kind of wildcat it is."
Upon hearing this, Ye Linxi's heart jumped. Her hands, hanging by her sides, clenched into fists, her nails digging deep into her palms, leaving crescent-shaped marks.
She had already cursed Xiao Xun countless times in her heart.
"Don't worry." Song Zhiyu gave Ye Linxi a reassuring look, her right hand unconsciously gripping the medicine bag containing the powder, her hands itching to use it.
However, her medicine powder was ultimately useless. Xiao Xun had only gone halfway when she was stopped by soldiers who had come at full speed.
