Chapter 35 Losing his brother was Song Zhiyu's greatest loss.

While praising Shen Jinshu, he didn't forget to put down Song Zhiyu, revealing his contempt and disdain. However, he was clearly unaware of this.

Shen Jinshu suppressed the upturned corners of her mouth and offered a few words of advice, "Second sister has never shown her talents in front of us, but perhaps her talents are not bad at all."

Fourth Brother, it's fine if you say this to me, but please don't say it to Second Sister. You know her temper; I'm afraid you'll upset her again.

On the surface, Shen Jinshu's words were meant to comfort Shen Yanxi and speak on behalf of Song Zhiyu, perfectly portraying the image of a good older sister.

However, the meaning she inadvertently expressed successfully ignited Shen Yanxi's anger, constantly reminding him of what Song Zhiyu had done to him, which exacerbated his dissatisfaction with Song Zhiyu.

As expected, Shen Yanxi was immediately enraged. "I'm not wrong. She grew up in the countryside and developed a very unruly personality. How can she have any talent to speak of?"

"Her chest is stained with ink, she's crude and vulgar. I think even the lowly concubines of the noble families in the capital are far better than her. How could she possibly be one in a million like you?"

Upon hearing this, Shen Jinshu's smile froze, her lips, hidden under her handkerchief, pressed down, and her gaze toward Shen Yanxi became venomous and ruthless, a flash of murderous intent passing through her eyes.

The identity of being a mistress is an indelible shame in her heart, and she can never mention it to anyone.

Faced with Shen Yanxi's blatant mockery and the unspeakable disgust on his face, Shen Jinshu couldn't help but feel a surge of anger.

Now is not the time to break ties with Shen Yanxi. She must endure it, Shen Jinshu kept telling herself.

She bit her lower lip tightly, suppressing the anger in her heart, quickly adjusted her expression, and restored her usual smile. "Fourth Brother, didn't you say you were going to Yushang Pavilion to buy me clothes? Let's go now."

"Okay, let's not waste any time." Shen Yanxi nodded, instantly forgetting about Song Zhidao, and walked beside Shen Jinshu, talking to her.

Feathered Robe Pavilion.

The two chatted and laughed as they walked to the front door, where they bumped into Song Zhiyu, who was about to enter.

"What are you doing here?" Shen Yanxi frowned, subconsciously assuming that Song Zhiyu had found out their whereabouts and followed them out, and immediately felt displeased.

"What, does this place belong to your family? Can't I come here?" Song Zhiyu glanced at him lightly and retorted in a mildly sharp tone.

Unusually, Shen Yanxi wasn't angered by her. Instead, he grinned, a hint of smugness in his eyes. "Song Zhiyu, I told you you couldn't take it anymore. You acted like you hated us so much a while ago, but now you're showing your true colors."

You found out where Shu'er and I were and followed us here eagerly. I really thought you were so tough, but I didn't expect you to be so incorrigible.

He knew that Song Zhiyu's personality couldn't change drastically in a short time. The reason she pretended to dislike them was just a tactic of playing hard to get.

But this trick didn't work on him; he only acknowledged Shu'er as his sister.

But the fact that Song Zhiyu had given in made him feel much better instantly.

"Fourth Brother~" Shen Jinshu glared at him, then turned and smiled apologetically at Song Zhiyu.

"Second sister, fourth brother is just a bit too outspoken. Don't take it to heart, and don't poison him again."

Song Zhiyu turned her gaze back expressionlessly, completely ignoring Shen Jinshu.

Her tone was flat, "It's only broad daylight and you're already having a fit of hysteria. When you have time, have Shen Muxun take a look at your head. Don't act like a mad dog, biting people all day long. That's not good."

"Who are you calling a mad dog? Who are you saying is biting people randomly?" Shen Yanxi said angrily.

Sure enough, he couldn't remain calm whenever he faced Song Zhiyu.

"Whoever answers, speak up." Song Zhiyu said calmly, stepping into Yushang Pavilion, leaving Shen Yanxi behind in impotent rage.

Yushang Pavilion truly lives up to its reputation as the premier clothing store in the capital. Its clothes are novel in style and exquisite in workmanship. The gorgeous clothes displayed in the middle of Yushang Pavilion immediately attracted everyone's attention.

"Fourth Brother, look at this dress, it's so beautiful." Shen Jinshu stroked the pale yellow brocade dress with obvious affection, her eyes filled with undisguised delight.

Shen Yanxi waved his hand and said, "Buy it! Buy everything my sister likes."

After saying that, he glanced at Song Zhiyu smugly.

Losing his brother was Song Zhiyu's greatest loss.

At this point, Shen Yanxi had clearly forgotten that he had once said that his only sister was Shen Jinshu and that he did not acknowledge Song Zhiyu's identity.

Song Zhiyu ignored Shen Yanxi's little thoughts. She was carefully observing the clothes in front of her. When she saw the familiar stitches and embroidery on the store's prized "Flowing Skirt", her smile widened.

"Zhiyu? It really is you! I thought I had mistaken you for someone else." A surprised female voice rang out from beside Song Zhiyu.

Song Zhiyu turned to look at the person who had come, her face showing undisguised surprise. "Aunt Qin, what brings you to the capital?"

"Your brother Qin passed the imperial examination with top honors and has made something of himself. He brought me to the capital to enjoy a life of luxury." The woman, known as Aunt Qin, was dressed in gorgeous clothes and had a rosy complexion, a stark contrast to her weathered appearance in the countryside.

Song Zhiyu smiled slightly, genuinely happy for the woman, "Congratulations, Aunt Qin, on your hard times finally coming to an end."

"Zhiyu, I never expected to run into you in the capital. Seeing that you are doing well, your aunt is relieved."

Suddenly, Aunt Qin changed the subject, "Have you ever visited your adoptive parents? They're living a miserable life now. Yaozu gambled away all the family's money and almost had his hand chopped off."

To pay off Yaozu's gambling debts, your adoptive parents, despite their advanced age, had to swallow their pride and borrow money from the villagers. It was truly pitiful to see.

Parents are never wrong; after all, they raised you for several years. Now that you're wealthy, you should help them out if you can, as a way of repaying the debt of gratitude you owe them for raising you…

“Auntie, I know what I'm doing, you don't need to say anything more. Besides, this isn't a good place to talk. I'll have a proper chat with you another day when you have some free time.”

Aunt Qin was interrupted by Song Zhiyu before she could finish speaking. Seeing that Song Zhiyu was unwilling to talk about the matter, she shut her mouth awkwardly.

Unable to hear the rest, Shen Jinshu became increasingly interested in Song Zhiyu's adoptive parents, and a wicked scheme gradually formed in her mind.

"Alright, let's do it your way. I have other matters to attend to at home, so I'll head back first." Aunt Qin nodded, exchanged a few more words with Song Zhidao, and then left.

Shen Jinshu watched Aunt Qin's retreating figure thoughtfully. The people she sent out had spent so much time but hadn't been able to find out anything about Song Zhiyu's past. Unexpectedly, they ran into Song Zhiyu's fellow villager today. It was truly a stroke of luck.
