Chapter 137 Don't Want to Lose Face

Chapter 137 Don't Want to Lose Face

An Cheng prepared a table full of delicious dishes and motioned for An Yan and Li Rongsen to come over and eat. Hua Ye had already sat down at the table and started eating, saying, "Hey, ever since your dad came here, the food here has been like flying to the sky. It's so good."

"When we move, do you want to hire two people to take care of you?" An Yan took the opportunity to ask them.

"No need. We're in good health. If we can't help, we can ask Yan Qingqiu to come over and help. He's been hanging around out there anyway, and we've got food, drink, and shelter here, so we're not mistreating him." Grandpa Hua said as he drank his soup, praising it, "This chicken soup is really delicious."

"Even if the drink tastes good, you can't drink too much. You should be more restrained. Your stomach and intestines can't handle it." An Cheng reminded him. He was afraid that he would be greedy and eat too much, and then complain of bloating.

Grandpa Hua laughed heartily and said to Li Rongsen, "Come on, boy, eat more. Come to work more often when you have time, and help my precious apprentice with some work as well."

"Okay." Li Rongsen agreed immediately.

Although An Yan felt that it was not nice for Hua Ye to order people around like this, she did not refute it immediately. She just lowered her head and ate silently. After eating, she put the dishes in the kitchen and began to help An Cheng clean up.

Li Rongsen also came in and said to An Yan, "I can't cook, but I can wash dishes."

"No need, I'm almost done cleaning up, so my dad won't be in a rush later." An Yan put away some unnecessary dishes and chopsticks in the cupboard, and rubbed the dishcloth.

"When the time comes, we will provide them with a set of kitchen utensils, including a dishwasher, disinfection cabinet and so on, so they don't have to worry about it." Li Rongsen said.

"You have to build them an earthen stove, just like this kitchen. They like to cook like this." An Yan reminded him not to forget.

Li Rongsen nodded and said, "I know. The two kitchens are connected and have doors on both sides. That would be more convenient."

"Let's build a vegetable garden in front and grow some common vegetables." said An Yan.

"I'll build a sink next to the vegetable patch to make it easier to wash the vegetables."

"Let's build a small orchard near the wall. We don't need to plant too many things, just some orange trees or something." An Yan thought this arrangement was good.

"Okay." Li Rongsen nodded and said, "I'll build a peach orchard in the backyard and a two-story building in the orchard. I can enjoy the peach blossoms in the spring and eat peaches in the summer. What do you think?"

An Yan looked at Li Rongsen and thought to herself that he had taken her words to heart. She did not express her opinion.

Li Rongsen added, "When you go to visit them, stay there."

"When can we start work?" An Yan was very concerned about this matter.

"Just these past two days, I've had them buy all the materials, and today we'll incorporate Mr. Hua and your father's requirements into the design."

"Are you really going to buy a donkey?" An Yan asked. He felt that the two old men seemed to be living in ancient times. Why did they have to get a donkey?

"Yes, buy a donkey to help them grind beans. It's not bad, just like having a pet." Li Rongsen thought it was nothing. He could just design a donkey shed in the corner of the yard. It wasn't difficult.

"Raising chickens and ducks is not enough." An Yan shook her head slightly and laughed.

Li Rongsen asked again, "How about we go over and take a look after they finish building the frame of the house?"

"Okay." An Yan nodded. As she closed the cabinet door, she suddenly remembered something and said, "It would be nice to raise bees."

"That's a great idea. I was just discussing this with your dad, and I always felt like something was missing, and that's beekeeping." Grandpa Hua strolled in, looking very excited, and added, "Honey is good for your health, it's a great thing."

An Yan saw Hua Ye so happy and smiled too.

Li Rongsen said, "It really is a farmyard."

"I think it's a good idea," An Yan nodded. Seeing Hua Ye running out again, he must have gone to tell An Cheng. She said, "I'm going to go find Xiao Hua and see if there's anything I can help with. I'll also talk to Yan Qingqiu about the poison."

"Okay." Li Rongsen nodded. He saw An Yan was about to peel an apple, so he took it and said, "Let me peel it. I know how to do it."

But in fact, Li Rongsen didn't know how to do it. He had lived a life of luxury since he was a child, and had never peeled an apple. However, his posture of holding the knife was quite professional. He peeled slowly, trying to make the peel smooth, and was as serious as if he was polishing a diamond.

An Yan, who was watching from the side, felt that he was too slow. She picked up an apple and peeled it directly with a large bone-cutting knife. It was done in a few strokes, and the skin was still connected. She said, "Just put it down. You are the eldest young master, it is normal that you can't do it."

"No, no, no, I really can." Li Rongsen thought to himself that he was too weak. Not only could he not cook, but now he couldn't even peel an apple. Besides, he didn't want to embarrass himself in front of An Yan.

It was this thought that distracted him and caused him to cut his finger, drawing a trace of blood.

An Yan took out a band-aid calmly, snatched the apple from his hand before he could react, and skillfully put it on him. Then she said, "Don't be so stubborn. Everyone has their own expertise."

Li Rongsen looked at the Band-Aid on his thumb and felt a little discouraged and embarrassed.

An Yan disagreed and said, "I'll take the fruit over and then leave." Then she picked up the fruit plate and went out.

An Cheng saw her coming and said, "Don't do anything when you come here. Dad is here. I'll do it."

"I'm not here as a guest, and it's just a small matter." An Yan smiled and put the fruit plate in the middle, then said, "I have to go first. I have to go find Xiaohua."

"Who is Xiaohua?" asked Grandpa Hua.

"Xiaohua is a friend of mine, a kind-hearted girl." An Yan said as she put on her bag.

When she walked into the yard, she found Li Rongsen handing her something. It was an apple, but it was carved into a peony flower, and a bamboo chopstick was stuck underneath. He said, "I said I would do it."

"It's pretty good." An Yan took it.

Li Rongsen followed her out and said, "I'll take you there."

"Don't you have anything else to do?" An Yan asked him.

"It's time to get off work, and I don't need a relationship." Li Rongsen said as he opened the car door and motioned An Yan to sit in.

An Yan didn't bother to be polite with him and said, "Let's go to the new house. We'll move in after we clean it up in the next two days. It's also close to where Xiaohua works."

"Just arrange a few part-time workers to clean, why does she have to do it herself?" Li Rongsen said.

This was the education he had received since childhood, so he didn't fully understand how children from poor families grew up. So An Yan didn't explain much to him and said, "Let's go."

Li Rongsen parked the car on the side and saw that all the lights in the room were on. He said, "They should be cleaning."

An Yan thought so too. She found the door was not locked, so she pushed it open and walked in, shouting, "Xiao Hua, where are you?"

Xiaohua didn't answer her.

But An Yan heard a loud sound of water, as if it came from the bathroom. She went there curiously and saw Yan Qingqiu holding Xiaohua's collar and pushing her into the bathtub full of water.
