Chapter 237 Unexpected Encounter
The rain outside has not stopped and is still drizzling.
An Yan didn't expect Wen Jiaer to bring her to such a grand and luxurious place for dinner. It can be seen that he is quite sincere.
Wen Jiaer gestured for An Yan to go up the stairs first and said, "My finances are limited, so I can't book the whole place. But fortunately, not many people come here. I heard that there are only two of us at the moment."
An Yan signaled him not to think so and said, "Actually, it doesn't matter where you eat. There's no need to go to so much trouble."
"That's different. This is my way of thanking you, so it should be more formal. I don't know how else to thank you, so I can only do this. If you need my help in the future, I will do my best." Wen Jiaer said as he pulled a chair for her.
An Yan sat down first, and then said to Wen Jiaer: "You don't have to be so serious, we are all friends."
"You are helping me like this for Rong Sen's sake, right?" Wen Jiaer asked her.
This was of course not true, but it was also a good excuse, so An Yan did not refute it, but only said: "We are all friends now, so there is no need to be too polite."
"Then I'll invite you and Rong Sen to dinner some other day."
An Yan nodded slightly.
The waiter came up and brought the dishes to the two of them, and asked, "Excuse me, would you like some music?"
"No, thank you." An Yan interrupted and refused.
"Why, you don't like listening to piano, or violin?"
"I'm more interested in classical instruments." An Yan told him directly.
"I can play the erhu, but I'm not very good. Give me a chance to show off some other day." Wen Jiaer gestured to An Yan to try the food first.
He used to play the erhu often to entertain her. His playing was average but not bad either. I wonder if he has made any progress in this life.
I heard Wen Jiaer ask again: "Do you play a classical instrument?"
“I know a little bit, but I’m not good at it.”
At this time, I heard a quarrel at the front desk, and I didn't know who was making the noise.
The waiter came over and said apologetically, "I'm so sorry, we'll take care of it right away."
"What happened?" An Yan asked.
"It's the guests who want to listen to the pipa, but this is a Western restaurant and we never play any classical music, which puts us in a difficult position."
"Why don't you stop that customer? He seems to be hitting that girl." Wen Jiaer frowned.
The waiter originally thought that a brief explanation would be enough, but she didn't expect them to ask so many detailed questions. She followed them to take a look, but saw that An Yan had already stood up and walked over. She found that the girl looked familiar from a distance.
It was indeed Xia Zimei.
Xia Zimei was also slightly surprised to see An Yan, and couldn't help but call out, "Sister Yichen."
"You are a student, why are you playing here?"
"I just want to save some money." Xia Zimei lowered her head.
The store manager said, "Why, you know each other?"
An Yan looked at the customer who had complained and found that he was a man in his forties. He looked quite respectable and said, "She's just a student. You don't have to make things difficult for her."
"He was the one who touched me. I didn't want to, so he used the excuse that I couldn't play the pipa to complain about me." Xia Zimei knew An Yan's ability, and she didn't expect to meet her. Since she met her, she should tell the truth.
An Yan said to Xia Zimei, "Go back first and don't come here to work anymore. I'll go to the school to see you in a couple of days."
Xia Zimei nodded slightly. She turned to leave, but the man grabbed her arm.
An Yan immediately picked up a plate and hit the man's hand, then said to him, "Let her go, or I will cut off one of your hands."
The man said angrily, "Why are you meddling in other people's business? Do you know who I am?"
Before An Yan could react, she saw that the man had already fallen down. Wen Jiaer was standing behind him. He handed the store manager a business card and said, "If anything happens later, tell him to come to me."
The store manager took the business card tremblingly, then nodded repeatedly and said, "Please take a seat and enjoy your dinner. We will take care of this."
Wen Jiaer said to An Yan, "Let's go. Don't worry about them."
An Yan nodded and went back to sit with Wen Jiaer. She said, "So you know some Kung Fu."
"I've been exercising since I was a kid, and I also learned some self-defense techniques to strengthen my body. I thought it would help with my illness, but it turned out to be of little use." Wen Jiaer said as he removed the red wine in front of An Yan and said, "It's better not to drink. No matter what kind of wine it is, it's not necessarily good for your health."
"I don't like drinking either." An Yan nodded and started cutting the beef.
The two of them were chatting happily and didn't notice Yan Qingqiu and Li Rongsen coming over.
This restaurant was chosen by Yan Qingqiu. Although there were other guests present today, he didn't mind. He came purely for the food. However, he was sharp-eyed. As soon as he sat down, he noticed that there was someone sitting in the corner by the window. It was someone he knew.
Yan Qingqiu said to Li Rongsen who had just sat down, "Hey, look, it's An Yan, right?"
Li Rongsen turned around and saw An Yan and Wen Jiaer. They both had smiles on their faces and must be very happy. This made him feel like a stab in the heart.
Yan Qingqiu said, "Hey, let's go sit together. It will be more lively when there are more people."
"Sit down." Li Rongsen whispered to him.
Yan Qingqiu didn't understand what he meant and asked, "What's wrong?"
"Don't disturb them, we'll eat by ourselves. You can order whatever you want today." Li Rongsen said as he threw the menu in front of him.
"Since we've met, why don't you go and say hello?" Yan Qingqiu thought Li Rongsen was really weird.
Li Rongsen frowned and said, "If they had invited you and me to have dinner together, there would be no need to come alone."
Yan Qingqiu hadn't thought much about it at first, but after hearing what he said, it seemed to make some sense, so he didn't go over and said, "It's really interesting. It seems that An Yan rarely eats with other men. We are friends in need, and we have only known that man for a few days."
"Maybe it's fate."
"That's hard to explain." Yan Qingqiu felt that fate was the most frustrating thing, and it was hard to explain. Maybe they were really destined to have some feelings for each other.
Li Rongsen's mood plummeted. He always felt that something would happen today, but he didn't expect that it was waiting for him here. He was a little confused. Why did An Yan take care of Wen Jiaer so much and insist on treating him just after he arrived? Her concern and care were not like hers.
Yan Qingqiu had already ordered the dishes. Seeing Li Rongsen in a daze, he asked him, "Hey, what are you thinking about? Even if An Yan is in a relationship, it's not a bad thing."
"Can you stop talking nonsense? How could she be in love with him?" Li Rongsen immediately retorted.
Yan Qingqiu didn't understand why Li Rongsen was angry. He raised his eyebrows slightly and then said, "I just said it casually. I didn't say that she must be in love with that boy."
"When are you going to ask her?" Li Rongsen didn't dare to ask himself, so he encouraged Yan Qingqiu to ask.
Yan Qingqiu looked at Li Rongsen's face and said, "I don't care about this. I won't ask."
Li Rongsen gestured for him to start eating, then turned to look at An Yan's side. He found the table there empty, and feeling anxious, he turned back to look at Yan Qingqiu and said, "Hey, they're gone. Did An Yan tell you where she sleeps today?"
Yan Qingqiu forked up a piece of beef and stuffed it into his mouth, saying, "What's wrong with you? You look like you're having a seizure. Can you please eat properly first?"
"I'm worried about An Yan's safety."
"She's an adult, and who can hurt her?" Yan Qingqiu asked him back.
Li Rongsen admitted that he was just jealous.
