Chapter 272: Being Set Up
The next day was a nice day with mild sunshine and a slight breeze. It was the most comfortable moment.
The old man prepared some things for them, but An Yan only picked out a few necessities and put them in her bag. Li Rongsen was afraid that she would be hungry and thirsty on the way, so he took some things and carried them on his back, and tied the heaviest things to the big cat.
An Yan was the first to jump onto the big cat and said, "You too, you're not afraid of making the big cat uncomfortable when you put clothes on him. Fortunately, the clothes are loose, otherwise they would have been constricting him."
"He likes it very much. The shinier and brighter it is, the happier he is. He won't touch it unless you let him wear it." The old man immediately explained to her.
"Big Cat has more than ten sets of clothes, more than the old man's clothes." Li Rongsen smiled and patted Big Cat's body, then sat on it.
The big cat seemed to understand, roared, and twisted its butt, making a cool pose.
The old man said, "In my opinion, we should take Xiao Hei with us. First, we can let him see the world, and second, we can have someone to look after him. Although he is small, he is very capable. If anything happens, he can help us."
"That's not good. He's still too young. The place we're going to today is a bit dangerous." An Yan just felt sorry for Xiao Hei and didn't want him to get hurt.
"That's just because he is small and can't grow up. His daily appetite is quite enough, and now he gets aggressive at the slightest provocation. Let him get ahead of others and get aggressive with them." The old man said as he signaled the servants to bring Xiao Hei up.
Xiao Hei was treated the best. Two people followed him around all day long. His basket was made of fragrant vines and padded with a smooth velvet cushion. His water cup and other things were all specially made and very valuable.
Anyan said, "See if he wants to go with me. Don't force him."
Xiao Hei didn't react at first. He raised his head and twisted it left and right a few times, looking lazy. But when he saw An Yan stretch out her hand, he seemed to suddenly become energetic. He pounced on her and wrapped his arms around her wrist, looking very intimate.
An Yan said, "Xiao Hei, this trip is a bit dangerous. You don't have to go with us. Just stay in the basket and take a good nap. I'll bring you some fruit when I come back, okay?"
Xiao Hei rubbed his head against her and held her tightly, meaning that he wanted to follow her.
"Okay, then you can get into my little pocket. It will be safer this way." As he said that, he opened a small zipper on his bag and motioned Xiao Hei to get in.
Xiao Hei was obedient and quickly got in, then poked out his little head to look around.
"City Lord, be careful on your way and come back quickly." The old man repeatedly reminded her.
"I'm going to collect herbs. I'll try to be back today. You don't have to worry." An Yan patted the big cat and said, "Big Cat, let's go."
After hearing the command, the big cat started running, taking An Yan and Li Rongsen with him towards the forest.
"How long will it take us to get there?" Li Rongsen asked her.
"At the speed of a big cat, we should be there in two hours. It's a big forest and not many people go there. After all, it's a bit dangerous and no one knows what will happen in the forest." An Yan said to him, and she could feel that her voice seemed to quickly dissipate in the wind. She wondered if Li Rongsen heard it.
Li Rongsen was thinking about how An Yan treated Wen Jiaer so differently, so he asked, "Have you ever been there?"
"I've only been there once." An Yan answered him.
The big cat's speed was getting faster and faster, like an arrow, sweeping up the branches and leaves of the surrounding trees, and many of them fell to the ground. Suddenly, he slammed on the brakes again.
Fortunately, An Yan held on to her tightly, otherwise she would have been thrown out by him. Li Rongsen behind her leaned heavily on her back without any warning.
Li Rongsen straightened up quickly after realizing it and said, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean it."
"It's okay." An Yan said, and she understood why the big cat stopped. There was a green barrier in front of them, which was made up of tangled branches and leaves.
Li Rongsen also saw it and said, "Is this road blocked?"
"Logically speaking, it's impossible, but we can try another route." An Yan patted the big cat's body and said to him, "Big Cat, let's go to the right."
The big cat roared and then started running again.
But after running a certain distance, I saw the green barrier again, and even after changing three lanes, it was still the same.
"What's going on?" Li Rongsen was surprised.
The big cat was a little tired, and he had already laid down on the ground with his whole body. Then Xiao Hei crawled out of Anyan's pocket and crawled in front of him. The two of them snuggled together like old friends.
An Yan got off the big cat, looked around, and then said, "It seems like someone set this up intentionally. Otherwise, where did these green barriers come from?"
"And I find that our actions are shrinking. What do you think?" Li Rongsen told her what he wanted to say.
An Yan also noticed this strange thing and said, "I'm afraid he's trapped."
"So what should I do now?" Li Rongsen asked. He took out a compass and pointed at the green barrier opposite him. "This direction should be the right one. Otherwise, we should find a way to knock down that green barrier."
"You can give it a try." An Yan said as she began to try her luck and hit the other end of the green barrier. As a result, she found that the green barrier was not destroyed, but moved forward instead.
This further narrows their scope.
"It's really weird." Li Rongsen frowned.
"It's okay. This barrier can't be as high as the sky. I'll climb up and take a look. You just stay here and don't move." An Yan said as she climbed up a huge tree.
She tried to use the height to step over the green barrier, but failed because she found that the green barrier also became higher.
An Yan had no choice but to come down from the tree again and said to Li Rongsen, "No, this is a setup."
"What is their purpose?" Li Rongsen asked, as if talking to himself.
"I don't want to destroy the trees. It's a pity that they are not easy to grow." An Yan sighed, but she could not forget her purpose, so she used fire attack, but only attacked the green barrier.
No matter how hard you hit the green barrier, it remained unharmed, as still as a piece of iron.
"How strange! There are plants that are not afraid of fire?" Li Rongsen was very surprised, while stepping on the burning grass at his feet that was affected by sparks.
An Yan frowned, she thought carefully, and then said, "There is only one reason, they are not plants at all, they are just a trick to deceive people."
"Why is there always someone against us?" Li Rongsen really felt it was very strange.
If you want to know why more and more people are against them now, you should ask Li Rongsen. Almost all of it is because of him. If he had not become the new generation of Tang Monk, who would be willing to rob him?
The key point is that eating his meat will not make you immortal. It is just a good thing that needs to be shared by everyone. Everyone treats him as a living treasure that can be looked at and used. What's more, he has a smart brain, which adds a bit of temptation.
An Yan glanced at him, but she didn't say anything in the end. She only blamed the old man for bragging so much on her behalf. She simply sat down next to the big cat and said, "I'm hungry. Let's eat something here."
"Okay." Li Rongsen nodded, and immediately took out a piece of red and white checkered cloth from his bag and spread it on the ground. Then he took out some food and placed it on top, and handed over a bottle of drink.
An Yan took it and thought that there was always someone more anxious than her, so it would be better to wait a while, since it was still early before dark.
