Chapter 463 Finally Found Her
There lived a woman in the thatched hut. Although it was in the wilderness, she was dressed in silk and satin and wore a gold hairpin and pearls on her head. She never went out during the day and only dared to walk outside at night. When she found someone crawling towards the door, she was frightened at first, but then she plucked up the courage to walk over, only to see that it was also a woman, who looked weak and frail.
"Can you give me a drink of water?" Meidie begged her, she was so thirsty that she was smoking.
The woman squatted down and looked at Meidie's face in the moonlight. She couldn't help but say, "Beautiful! There is such a beautiful woman. This is the first time I have seen such a beautiful woman."
Meidie didn't have the energy to say much, she just said the word "water".
The woman was very strong. She picked up Meidie horizontally and walked into the house. She put her on the couch and carefully admired her appearance. She couldn't help but stroke her cheek with her fingers and said, "What a beautiful woman." Then she turned around to get some water.
Meidie felt a porcelain bowl approaching her mouth and opened her eyes slightly. It would have been fine if she hadn't looked, but when she did, she was frightened and asked, "Who are you?"
"What are you doing? Did I scare you to death?" The woman snorted, feeling very unhappy.
This woman was extremely ugly. Her face was covered in pimples and looked very creepy. Naturally, Mei Die was frightened to the point of losing all her soul. Her angry expression was even more frightening. Her face was twisted like mud. She asked in a very bad tone, "Hey, do you want some water?"
"Yes. I'm very thirsty." Meidie had no choice. She wanted to survive, so she tried to ignore her appearance.
The woman gave Meidie two sips of warm water, then slowly helped her lie down. Then she sat down at the table, looking at her again and asking, "Who are you and why are you here?"
"I went to see a friend." Meidie didn't intend to tell her the truth.
"I don't think you are looking for a friend, but rather a refugee." The man sneered.
Meidie's heart trembled, and she said, "I'm just weak, you don't have to think too much about it."
"I guess this counts as saving you," the man asked.
Meidie naturally understood the principle of repaying kindness, and she said, "Of course, I will repay you in the future, as long as I find my friend."
The woman came over to the couch again, staring at Meidie's face, and then held her in her hands, saying, "I really like your face. It's so beautiful. I wish you could have it."
"I'm afraid that won't work." Meidie said as she backed away, but the woman pulled her back and asked, "Then how are you going to repay me?"
"I will always give it to you. I will not go back on my word." Meidie felt like she had fallen into an ominous place.
"I've met many people, even the fairy over there, but she's not as beautiful as you. She can't compare to your face at all. That's what I think anyway." The woman praised her generously and added, "I really like you."
This made Meidie angry and she couldn't help coughing.
The woman tried to pat her body very gently, but found she couldn't reach her body. She jumped up in fright and said, "Are you a human or a ghost? What kind of thing are you? Why is there nothing when I pat your back?"
"Don't be afraid, I'm not a ghost, I'm just sick." Meidie comforted her and signaled her not to panic.
"What kind of illness could cause this?" The woman's eyes were filled with fear as she asked cautiously, "Are you missing a piece of your soul?"
"You" Meidie was very scared. She didn't want to tell anyone her true situation to avoid unnecessary harm.
The woman began to get excited and said, "Then you won't live long. You will die soon."
"What do you mean?"
"I won't hurt you. I'll just wait here for you to die, and then I'll occupy your face and bury you properly. I'll treat you as my relative. That won't be considered bullying you." The woman said as a matter of course, and then she moved a chair and sat down beside the couch, as if waiting for Meidie to die.
"I won't die. An Yan will come and save me." Mei Die said this, but she was afraid in her heart and couldn't help but shed tears. "Everyone will die eventually, so just let it go." The woman said it calmly, but it was also gentle, and Mei Die couldn't help but feel pity for her.
Meidie was very unconvinced and said, "If you hadn't died, you would have naturally let it go."
"I'm the only one at home," the woman replied.
"I don't want to die. I want to hold on. I can't die." Meidie began to feel sad.
"Oh, your condition is very difficult to cure, unless your soul is returned to you. But since your soul has been taken away by someone, how can it be returned to you? You will die sooner or later." The woman said lightly, she understood the reason.
Meidie leaned on the couch and shed tears, feeling grief and indignation. Suddenly, she saw many fireflies outside the window, floating and beautiful. She said, "What are those? They are so beautiful."
The woman also looked out the window and said, "Hey, when did fireflies appear here? There were never any before."
Mei Die became more alert because of her words. She knew An Yan was very smart and always had some interesting little tricks, so she said, "Since I'm about to die, can you catch some for me?"
"That's easy, just wait." The woman said as she stood up and opened the door. She caught a lot of fireflies outside and hid them in her palms. Then she came back into the house, put them in front of Meidie, and said, "Come, let me show you." After that, she slowly opened her hands, and saw the fireflies slowly floating in the air.
Meidie reached out and grabbed one, only to see the firefly turn into a sharp arrow in an instant and pierce through the roof.
The woman said, "What is this thing? It can actually change." After saying that, she reached out and grabbed one, but there was nothing in it. She couldn't help feeling disappointed.
Meidie naturally understood this. A feeling of grievance and anger surged in her heart, and she couldn't help but shed tears again.
An Yan on the other end received the signal and said, "Come back, there's news about Mei Die."
"Where is she?" Yan Qingqiu asked.
"Just follow me. It's not far away. Just go through this woods." After An Yan said that, she led the way into the woods.
"Be careful, An Yan." Li Rongsen signaled An Yan not to walk too fast.
It was dark in the woods and even in the moonlight it was hard to see clearly. Li Rongsen was afraid that An Yan would fall or get hurt, but this made Yan Qingqiu secretly happy, thinking that Li Rongsen would be back soon.
An Yan was walking in a hurry and not following the usual route. She was pulling out weeds along the way.
After a while, I saw a thatched house in front of me, like a lighthouse, standing alone in the world.
An Yan pointed to that spot and said, "That's it, Meidie is right there."
"Let me see your hand." Li Rongsen grabbed An Yan's hand and looked at it. He felt relieved when he found no wound.
"Let's go, let's walk over there." Yan Qingqiu said as he walked ahead of An Yan.
The next step was not difficult to walk on, but the narrow path was only wide enough for one person to walk on, so three people walked in front and behind, with Yan Qingqiu in front, Li Rongsen behind, and An Yan walking in the middle of them. Finally, they passed a vegetable field and walked into the yard.
The door of the thatched hut was open, making it easy for An Yan to walk in. She looked around and saw Meidie lying on the couch. She immediately strode forward to see her and said, "Finally found you."
"An Yan." Mei Die was extremely excited, which caused her to cough and wheeze.
"Don't worry, I'm here." An Yan comforted her and asked, "What's going on?"
Meidie was both happy and sad. She wanted to speak but couldn't help crying. She felt wronged in her heart.
