Lu Yi ran out of the residential area, hailed a taxi, and headed straight for Lin Xiaoya's store.
The technician who came to debug the equipment greeted Lu Yi warmly as soon as he saw him.
"Young man, you've come at the right time. Could you help us record the test run?"
Lu Yi looked around and, finding nothing amiss, nodded with slight relief.
Around noon, Lin Xiaoya's lazy voice came through.
"Lu Yi, I'm sorry, I was watching a drama last night and just woke up. What do you want?"
Hearing her voice, Lu Yi felt a weight lifted from his heart.
But he was still a little worried, so after thinking for a moment, he sent a string of text messages.
"The equipment is still being debugged. If you don't have anything else, you can rest at home. I'll send you the test video. You can call me anytime if you have any problems."
Better safe than sorry!
Lu Han suffered a huge loss, and who knows how chaotic the Lu family is now.
Lu Yi wasn't sure if Lu Baoqi might suddenly do something to Lin Xiaoya.
But once I got that pent-up anger out, I felt incredibly refreshed!
...
Lin Xiaoya had the same idea.
Upon seeing the message, I smiled knowingly and naturally typed out a variety of "kissing" emojis.
Suddenly feeling something was off, I reluctantly deleted it and replaced it with "Okay, thank you for your hard work!"
Lu Yi was on tenterhooks all day.
Fortunately, the test run went smoothly, and Lin Xiaoya stayed at home obediently as she had promised.
With the equipment working properly, the next step is to do a thorough cleaning and initial preparation.
Two of the new employees Lin Xiaoya hired are contract workers. Once they arrive tomorrow, Lu Yi can rest.
As soon as I got home in the afternoon, Liang Shiyue sent me a message.
She tentatively asked Lu Yi what he wanted to eat for dinner.
Lu Yi swiped his finger to the main page, glanced at it, and immediately replied.
"Liang, it's Thursday today, how about we go a little crazy?"
For a high school student like him, eating a hamburger and fries is already a luxury.
But after Liang Shiyue's father passed away, her family's financial situation improved, and they were probably already tired of this greasy fast food. Lu Yi just wanted to be more sincere.
When he's in a good mood, he'll go inside and find a quiet spot to treat himself.
As long as Liang Shiyue doesn't find it shabby, he can easily afford several set meals.
"Okay, it's settled then, see you at 5:30."
Liang Shiyue readily agreed.
Before the college entrance exam, her mother forbade her to eat fried food. Now that she has more freedom, her mother won't mind if she eats it occasionally.
"Xiaoyue, I'm on night shift tonight. Go home early, okay?"
Suddenly, her mother pushed open the door to her room. Liang Shiyue quickly put her phone face down on the sofa and picked up the remote control, pretending to watch TV.
"Okay! Mom, drive carefully on the road, I'll call you."
Liang Shiyue got up, saw her mother into the elevator, returned to her room, lay down on the soft sofa, and held her phone, laughing to herself.
"Oh no, I haven't picked out any suitable clothes yet!"
Liang Shiyue quickly got up, opened the closet, picked out a few items, and threw them on the bed.
Then he held each item up in front of him and tried them on in front of the mirror.
"It can't be too gaudy, nor too old-fashioned, and it can't be too flashy either... By the way, Lu Yi seems to like simple, light colors."
Liang Shiyue pushed all the clothes aside and took out a sky-blue dress from the very back of the wardrobe.
After getting dressed, she quickly tied her long hair back and made a loose bun, securing it with a champagne-colored pearl hair clip.
...
After telling his adoptive parents his innermost thoughts, Lu Yi gently wiped their cheeks in the photograph.
"Mom and Dad, if only you were still here!"
The living room was quiet; the only response he received was the wind that blew the curtains open.
With his arm in a cast, Lu Yi couldn't move it much, so he chose a loose light blue t-shirt and paired it with a pair of crisp, off-white jeans.
This meeting was very important to him.
His previous life was too short; he didn't live to see Liang Shiyue muster the courage to confess her feelings. But now, he has.
Since that's the case, we can't leave any more regrets.
At five o'clock in the evening, the summer clouds are colorful.
The river breeze, carrying a moist scent, dispelled the worries of city dwellers.
Lu Yi glanced at his watch, walked up the steps in front of the shop, suppressed all the unpleasant things in his heart, and completely cleared his mind.
"Lu Yi...over here!"
With one hand holding her shoulder bag and the other waving, Liang Shiyue's pretty and youthful appearance attracted many passersby to stop and look at her.
"I'm sorry, my bicycle broke down on the way, so I had to take a bus and I'm late."
She seemed oblivious, heading straight for Lu Yi, standing at the bottom of the steps, explaining breathlessly.
Her fair cheeks were flushed, whether from shyness or running around, like a big red apple hanging on a branch.
"I just arrived too."
Lu Yi smiled slightly, pushed open the door, and the two entered the store one after the other, finding a seat by the window.
This long table faces the riverbank, offering a perfect view.
With only a fist's distance between her and Lu Yi, Liang Shiyue's heart pounded, and she nervously didn't know where to put her hands.
"Um... what would you like to order? I'll eat it for you."
Lu Yi: "..."
“No, no…” Liang Shiyue waved her hands in front of her.
"What I mean is, you eat whatever I order... ha..."
Why are you suddenly rambling? What did I say?!
Liang Shiyue placed her hands on the edge of the table, her fingers intertwined, her mind a jumbled mess. "Liang Shiyue, you're such an idiot, you can't even express yourself clearly."
"I've ordered your favorite Original Recipe Chicken, French fries, and beef burger. Now think about what else you'd like to eat?"
