Chapter 24 She was like a ray of light

Seeing that Fan Huijun was still not finished, Lu Yi handed the spatula to his uncle.

“I don’t know the mechanic. Uncle, you can watch the pot while I wait for him. I’ll go with Dr. Fan. I know the mountain well.”

Lu Yi could find his adoptive parents' tombstones perfectly even with his eyes closed; even Xiao Liu from the management office would probably be ashamed of his own abilities.

Lu Gensheng thought that made sense.

He instructed, "Take Dr. Fan along the path at the back; it was just repaired there, so it won't hurt your feet!"

...

Looking at Lu Gengsheng's full head of white hair, Fan Huijun felt her heart swell with tears.

The last time I had this feeling was after treating a girl who had fallen from a building, but at that time I felt sorry for her young life.

But at this moment, she couldn't explain what was wrong with her.

Looking at the thin figure walking ahead, Fan Huijun finally thought of a topic.

"Lu Yi, you'll be taking the college entrance exam next year, right? Have you decided what major you want to study?"

Lu Yi stopped in his tracks and realized that Fan Huijun had fallen far behind. The slope didn't look steep, but it was actually quite strenuous to walk.

He slowed his pace and said softly, "I want to learn a skill. The future belongs to AI, and I want to learn a skill that will never be replaced by AI!"

To be honest, he had thought more than once about cooking, hairdressing, repairing, or even raising livestock. These professions, though at the bottom of society, could at least provide a living.

Fan Huijun took a few steps closer and stared intently into his eyes.

"Then choose to create AI, Lu Yi. The prospects of this industry are limitless!"

For the past five or six years, no one has ever guided him in his life; he has become accustomed to making his own decisions.

Upon hearing Fan Huijun's words, he stood there for a long time before realizing that someone was sending him a signal of goodwill.

Fan Huijun pulled up his sleeve to check the healing of the abrasion, and then walked alongside him.

"You know what? My family made our fortune in medical devices, so I know very well how powerful this industry is!"

"You've come at the perfect time. The integration of AI and medical devices will be the major trend in the medical field for the next few decades."

Lu Yi was completely confused.

He was a high school student, and although he often went online, his understanding of the medical industry was limited to what he had seen in hospitals.

"You mean, let robots treat humans?"

"Pfft!" Fan Huijun covered her mouth and laughed, "You can understand it that way, but it's not that simple. The size of a robot can be infinitely small, down to the nanometer level, and it can even enter a human's blood vessels."

Lu Yi was stunned.

He had seen robot vacuum cleaners, hotel lobbies, and welcoming robots in shopping malls, but he couldn't imagine that such a thing could shrink to the nanometer level and go into a human's blood vessels to do its work.

"This is a very complex topic. There are already finished products available internationally, but this is just the beginning!"

Fan Huijun patiently answered Lu Yi's questions.

The two stopped when they were almost at Fan Huijun's maternal grandmother's grave.

Lu Yi consciously stood not far away, and respectfully bowed his head in the direction of the old man's tombstone.

This was taught to him by Lu Gensheng.

No matter when or who you bring up the mountain, you must maintain at least basic politeness and respect for their "family".

About fifteen minutes later, Fan Huijun placed the flowers in front of the tombstone and got up to say goodbye to her grandmother.

Seeing that she was in a heavy mood, Lu Yi didn't say anything.

Just as they were nearing the bottom of the mountain, Fan Huijun suddenly grinned and looked at Lu Yi with delight.

"I just remembered, there's a medical industry exhibition in the city the day after tomorrow. I wasn't planning on going, but I've changed my mind. I'd like to take you there to broaden your horizons, what do you say?"

This industry exhibition is international, showcasing the most cutting-edge technological achievements of various companies and institutions.

Some companies also showcase their conceptual ideas at the exhibition to attract well-funded investors and partners!

For Lu Yi, this was an excellent opportunity for "enlightenment"!

Fan Huijun still remembers that the first deal she personally closed was at the international branch of this exhibition.

Her eyes were full of anticipation as she waited for Lu Yi's reply.

Lu Yi thought that he shouldn't accept something for nothing, and that his relationship with this Dr. Fan was just that of a doctor and patient, and they didn't have any personal connection.

Would it be too presumptuous to agree so readily?

Fan Huijun assumed he was worried about his uncle Lu Gensheng's health and continued speaking to herself.

"Our hospital has a green channel specifically for seniors aged 65 and above. Examinations are free, and there will be corresponding reductions or exemptions for subsequent treatments. You don't need to worry about the elderly."

Actually, this was something she had just "opened up" in her mind for Lu Yi.

If it's a lung problem, the cost of a full set of tests is a significant sum for such a family.

She had already decided to take responsibility herself.

Lu Yi was even more surprised after hearing this!

His adoptive father also had a persistent cough, and the diagnosis was lung cancer. Upon hearing about the treatment costs, his adoptive father packed his clothes and went home without delay.

He even sought help from doctors at that time, but he had never heard of such a good benefit.

Seeing that he seemed lost in thought, Fan Huijun chuckled and said, "The hospital's policies change every year, so don't overthink it. I'm just asking you, do you want to go to the exhibition?"

Lu Yi stared at her eyes and asked blankly, "Why are you helping me? We... aren't that close."

Fan Huijun turned around, and when she looked back, the corners of her mouth turned up slightly.

"Let me tell you something: our Fan family is collaborating with universities and wants to commission some professional institutions to train our talent. So, I'm telling you, you've come at a good time."

Fan Huijun stood in the light, draped in colorful clouds. In a daze, Lu Yi seemed to see his adoptive mother smiling as she saw him off at the school gate.
