On the day Lu Yi received his university acceptance letter, Lu Baoyun found him.
She didn't bring any gifts or make any gestures; she simply walked towards him carrying a cat.
Congratulations, Yi'er!
Lu Baoyun placed the over ten-pound fat cat on the soft lawn, her eyes crinkling as she chuckled.
Why are you here?
Lu Yi had just finished secretly listening to Anderson White's lecture behind Fan Shenglun's back, and not knowing where to go, he randomly found a quiet place to clear his mind.
The atmosphere at the Fan family's residence was indeed not as chaotic as that at the Lu family's.
But because there were few people and the house was large, it always seemed empty, even with servants coming and going.
Lu Yi became more silent than before.
Aside from exchanging a few jokes with the Fan family at the dinner table, they rarely interact with any outsiders.
He couldn't even be bothered to respond to Gu Huainan's invitation.
The fundamentals of medical device design were far more complex than he had imagined. Functionality, operability, automation, and cutting-edge technology—any one of these aspects posed a significant challenge to him.
He began to worry whether he could achieve his goals in the next four years.
Lu Baoyun noticed that he had dark circles under his eyes, making his already deep eyes even colder. When he was silent and focused, he always exuded a distant and unapproachable aura.
I sat down next to him, holding the cat's leash.
Running her fingers along the flattened grass, she said abruptly, "My cat cafe has opened a branch..."
Upon hearing this, Lu Yi was taken aback.
He then realized that he hadn't been paying attention to the movie theater for a while, and that he had refused Gu Huainan's calls to invite him to dinner several times.
After regaining his senses for a moment, Lu Yi reached out and stroked the cat's head.
"That's great!"
The big fat cat closed its eyes in enjoyment, tilted its head back, and rubbed vigorously against his hand.
Seemingly not satisfied, it meowed and jumped onto his hunched legs, lay down with its plump body turned up, and acted affectionately towards him.
Upon seeing this, Lu Baoyun's eyes lit up, then she apologized.
"CC is a loner and doesn't like guests touching her, so I always take her with me when I go out. I didn't expect her to be so tolerant of you!"
When Lu Yi heard the adjective "aloof," the corners of his mouth curled up slightly.
In other people's eyes, he might also be a loner.
"Not planning to go back to school?"
Lu Yi scratched the fat cat's belly with his fingers, listening to its purring sounds of enjoyment, and a slight smile finally appeared on his indifferent face.
Lu Baoyun looked up at the children flying kites in the distance and said sullenly, "Let's not go back for now. It's just a diploma anyway."
"I used to be waited on hand and foot, and I thought life was great. But after starting my own business, I realized that there are many differences between people..."
She bit her lip and paused.
Suddenly, I stopped the urge to confide in someone.
I almost forgot!
Lu Yi disliked hearing these things the most.
To her surprise, Lu Yi didn't seem disgusted. Instead, he picked up the cat, turned it over, and said naturally.
"When people talk about feelings without considering interests, they have not seen reality."
"Even if your existence only brings others the emotional value they want, that's still more rational than talking about feelings."
The perceptive Lu Baoyun glanced at him sideways, "Were you... unhappy at the Fan family's house?"
Lu Yi shook his head.
"I'm happy! The Fan family's kindness to me is genuine, and they don't ask much of me, but I am who I am, and I can't replace anyone else."
"I just felt sorry for some people after truly experiencing fatherly love."
Hearing his implied meaning, Lu Baoyun was about to ask further when a pair of long, straight legs suddenly came into view.
"Hey, what are you doing here whispering? Bao Yun, don't you dare bully Lu Yi while I'm not around, or I'll make you regret it!"
Ruan Jiaojiao swung her fist and swept her long leg across.
But just before kicking Lu Baoyun, he abruptly stopped, chuckling mischievously, "Oh, so you know I can't bring myself to hit you, so you're playing mind games with me?"
Lu Baoyun didn't look at her, but tilted her head and looked behind her.
Ruan Jiaojiao bent down, scooped the cat out of Lu Yi's arms, and placed it on her head.
"Stop looking! That guy Gu Lao Er is so busy he's practically running around, he got called away halfway there by a phone call!"
As she spoke, she squeezed between the two of them and said carelessly, "Lu Yi, treat me to dinner. I want sweet and sour pork ribs!"
Lu Yi rolled his eyes at her.
"Isn't what your family chef cooks enough for you? Do I have to treat you?"
This girl used to have narrow shoulders and a slim waist, but after spending most of the summer vacation eating and sleeping at the Fan family's house, her waist has obviously gotten bigger.
If she hadn't been jumping and hopping around, she would have looked like a young pregnant woman.
Lu Baoyun also felt that her figure had changed drastically.
He pinched her waist, which was tightly constricted by her jeans, and said, "Jiaojiao, you should lose weight. If you keep eating like this, you'll become as fat as a cat sooner or later."
"I've already set up a weight loss plan for it, otherwise I wouldn't have taken it out for a walk at this time."
After a year, Ruan Jiaojiao had already gotten used to life in China.
However, he is completely clueless when it comes to interpersonal relationships and social skills.
When she gets going, she's even more troublesome than Gu Keke. However, she's not mentally ill; she's just used to being unrestrained.
"That's different. Gu Huainan's new store is opening, and sweet and sour pork ribs are their signature dish. You're treating us to free meals until he goes bankrupt!"
The fat cat couldn't withstand her "rough treatment" and stretched out its body, desperately trying to burrow under Lu Yi's armpit.
"Who's so ungrateful? I kindly treated you to a meal, and you want me to go bankrupt? Ruan Jiaojiao, aren't you afraid I'll tell Huo Jingxi?"
Upon hearing this voice, Lu Baoyun's cheeks immediately flushed crimson.
