Chapter 33 What's more sorrowful than sorrow is silence!

The crying stopped abruptly. Lu Yi grabbed Fan Huijun's hand, his pleading smile somewhat eerie.

"Dr. Fan, you studied abroad, you must know about the most advanced treatment methods overseas, right?"

"As long as my uncle's illness can be cured, even if it takes three or two years, no, even three months, I'm willing to spend any amount of money!"

What is more sorrowful than sadness is the silence that cannot be spoken!

Fan Huijun took out her phone, opened her chat history with the professor and classmates, and handed it to Lu Yi.

She tried it.

They even persuaded Director Hua to speak with the foreign professor who had mentored him back then.

The conclusion was that Lu Gensheng's body was now like a flickering candle flame, unable to withstand any more chemotherapy or radiotherapy.

"You delivered it way too late! What were you doing all this time?!"

After hanging up the phone, Director Hua frowned sadly.

Fan Huijun briefly told Lu Yi about his family situation, but deliberately concealed the fact that Lu Yi had a relationship with the Lu family.

Director Hua looked worried. After pondering for a moment, he made a decision.

“This old man and this young girl are truly pitiful. Xiao Fan, let’s comfort the family first and put the matter of expenses aside.”

He glanced at his watch.

"Once Dr. Lu comes to work, we'll give Old Lu a more thorough examination and see if we can prescribe some medication to make him feel better."

Upon hearing this, Fan Huijun suddenly remembered that Lu Baozhi was a doctor in the oncology department here.

She quickly pulled Director Hua aside, "The patient may have his own plans, Director Hua, it's best not to mention it to Dr. Lu yet... That child is shy and introverted... I'm afraid of scaring him."

Such consideration for patients' families is unlike Fan Huijun's usual style.

Director Hua, however, believed it.

And that's how the scene from before came about.

Lu Yi's English is excellent; he understands everything except the technical terms in the chat.

Seeing that he was absent-minded, Fan Huijun pulled him to sit beside her, held his icy fingers, and rubbed them.

“Lu Yi, Old Master Lu’s reluctance to seek medical treatment is not because he is unaware of his condition, but precisely because he already knows it.”

"Whatever his reason for not seeking treatment, I believe it's all for your own good!"

"I won't go into those grand principles, just remember, you're not alone in this world, you still have me!"

Lu Yi looked at her tired profile with gratitude, but it still felt like a huge chunk of his heart had been ripped out.

This pain is indescribable, unbearable, and I don't know how to express it. In short, it's an emptiness.

Lu Gengsheng woke up shortly after noon.

His first words were that he wanted to go home.

"Yi'er, your uncle isn't afraid of anything else, but he's terrified of all this stark white stuff in the hospital. Look at these walls, this ceiling, and these bedding... Ugh!"

Lu Yi picked up the spittoon he had prepared beforehand, placed it in front of him, and gently patted his back.

Lu Gensheng gripped the blankets with both hands and vomited several times until his neck and face turned a deep liver color, but nothing came out.

Hearing the noise, the nurse came over to ask what was wrong.

A short while later, Director Hua, wearing a white coat, hurried over.

Lu Yi was bent over and hadn't even put the spittoon down properly when Lu Gengsheng suddenly stepped off the hospital bed barefoot and knelt down in front of Director Hua with a thud.

"Doctor, please have mercy and let me go home! I don't want to stay here even a day longer!"

Director Hua was taken aback by his actions and didn't know what to do.

Lu Yi blushed and pulled her uncle up from the floor. "Uncle, we need to talk to the doctor properly, have you forgotten?"

Lu Gensheng stared in surprise, seemingly recalling what had happened at the center earlier.

She shook off Lu Yi's hand, climbed onto the hospital bed, and sat up straight like a primary school student on his first day of school.

"Yi'er is right. Only by adopting the right attitude can we solve the problem smoothly... Doctor, I miss home, I want to go home!"

The desire to return to one's roots is ingrained in everyone's very being!

Lu Yi smiled apologetically at Director Hua, then turned to his uncle and said, "Shall I talk to the doctor?"

Lu Gensheng nodded solemnly, "Row 10, Unit 28 is going to be repaired today. I can't be absent, otherwise that stubborn old man Li will scold me for being disloyal again!"

Lu Yi helped him put a pillow behind his lower back.

"Okay, okay, I'll explain to the doctor. Uncle, I'll be right back."

...

In the corridor.

Lu Yi bit his chapped lips.

"I'm sorry, Director Hua! My uncle is the cemetery keeper, so he's used to talking like this. Please don't mind."

Director Hua shook his head, recalling what Fan Huijun had said, and felt overwhelmed with sorrow.

“You are aware of his condition. If he wants to stay in the hospital, I will arrange a suitable ward so that the old man can be more comfortable.”

"If he wants to go home, that's fine. You can leave after the attending physician prescribes some pain-relieving medication."

Lu Yi didn't expect him to be so easy to talk to.

I didn't know how to thank him for a moment.

Director Hua said gently, "Doctors have the heart of parents, and we would never intentionally make patients and their families feel uneasy."

"After bringing him home, try not to stop him from eating or doing whatever he wants, as long as it's safe."

As he spoke, he handed over a business card.

"If the elderly person has any problems, they can contact me."

"Of course, contacting Xiao Fan is also an option!"

Lu Yi could barely utter a word, only nodding.

An hour later, the nurse delivered the medicine to the ward, followed by a caregiver pushing a wheelchair.

Fan Huijun also called, saying she was waiting downstairs.

As Lu Gengsheng watched Lu Yi pack his things, he happily said goodbye to his fellow patients, "You all take good care of yourselves, I'm being discharged now!"
