Lin Xiaoya called Lu Baoyun several times, but Lu Baoyun rejected all the calls.
Lin Xiaoya's initial arrogance was slowly worn away by the increasing pressure, and she suddenly realized how wrong she was.
And now I finally understand why Lu Yi lived so cautiously.
She missed the days when she was close to Liang Shiyue, especially after hearing that Liang's mother had passed away; her heart felt heavier than the gloomy sky.
That day, Lin Yuan was in a good mood, chatting and laughing with Mengmeng in the living room.
Lin Xiaoya changed into a set of casual sportswear and came downstairs. "Auntie, I want to ask you for a favor, is that alright?"
Lin Mengmeng glared at her with disgust. "What are you trying to do now? You made such a mess of the house at the last banquet, didn't you think that was enough?"
Lin Yuan put down the scissors in her hand, handed the arranged flowers to Liu Ma, and sat leisurely on the chaise lounge.
"With your abilities, do you still need my help?"
Lin Xiaoya lowered her stance, ignoring the sarcasm in her words, and nodded.
"Auntie, I heard that Madam Lu is ill and I would like to visit her."
Lin Yuan rolled her eyes. "Go ahead if you want, I'm not stopping you."
If it weren't for the deep ties between the Lin and Lu families, Lin Yuan would have wanted Lin Hongtao to sever ties with the Lu family long ago.
But now that the Lu family has been brought back to life, wouldn't the Lin family be at a disadvantage if they just withdrew like this?
On second thought, going to see Qin Fengying and hearing what she had to say didn't seem like a bad thing.
Lin Xiaoya watched as her eyes darted around, and waited patiently.
Sure enough, Lin Yuan clicked her tongue.
"Speaking of which, the Lin family and the Lu family are partners who have been through thick and thin together. It wouldn't be right not to go and visit them. Aunt Liu, have someone prepare a few fruit baskets."
...
Lu Baofei stayed at the hospital overnight. In the morning, after Wu Ma arrived, she gave her a few instructions and went to the company.
Looking at the fluctuating stock price curve, her feelings were indescribable.
Some people are buying at the bottom, while others are frantically buying in to drive up the price.
These two forces appear to be evenly matched, and the Lu family has become their battleground.
Seeing her furrowed brows, Lin Hongtao couldn't help but call her aside.
"Uncle Lin, just say what you have to say. It's so hard for me to hear the truth these days. I hope you're an exception."
Lu Baofei was not confused; at least she remained clear-headed.
But given the circumstances, there was nothing she could do about it.
Lin Hongtao looked around and lowered his voice, "Young Master Lu, I feel very uneasy. The Wang family has stopped showing up. Haven't you noticed?"
Wang Chan used to be the most active, but now he's even absent from shareholder meetings.
There are several others like him.
If they have anything in common, it's that they've all had some business dealings with the Huo family.
Lu Baofei was shocked. "You mean?"
Lin Hongtao waved his hand hastily, "I didn't say anything. What I meant was, Mr. Lu, do you want to talk to the Huo family or the Gu family again?"
"There are no permanent enemies in business. Isn't it better to make money together?"
That's what he said, but Lin Hongtao had no idea what to talk to them about, otherwise he would have gone by himself long ago.
Seeing Lu Baofei deep in thought, Lin Hongtao slipped away, saying, "Ms. Lu, I was just making a small suggestion, don't take it to heart. I have something to attend to, so I'll be leaving now..."
After weighing her options for a long time, Lu Baofei finally called Huo Jingxi, but no one answered.
She had no choice but to settle for second best and called Fan Huijun.
Fan Huijun was more straightforward than anyone else, and perhaps she could reveal something, but she hung up the phone after saying only a few words.
Standing in front of the tall French windows, Lu Baofei felt dizzy from the bustling traffic below.
This feeling was almost exactly the same as the feeling she experienced after returning to the Lu family business; the road was right in front of her, but she couldn't seem to reach it no matter what she did.
Just as she was feeling down, an unknown number called.
"Mr. Lu, this is Gu Huaibei..."
Lu Baofei was quite surprised. "Mr. Gu, what brings you here?"
Gu Huaibei didn't mince words, "I know you've been working hard for the Lu family, and I think I can give you an answer. Let's set a time!"
...
Lu Baoyun watched her mother finish a bowl of porridge, wiped her mouth, and complained, "If only you had done this sooner!"
"I looked it up online. If a person has a healthy digestive system, they will have good energy. Think about it yourself. When you're not feeling well, isn't it because you're not eating properly?"
Qin Fengying put the bowl aside and raised her voice a few decibels, "That's because your cooking is bad, that's why I can't eat!"
Wu Ma put the bowl away and was about to take it back to the car when she opened the door and saw Lin Yuan and Lin Xiaoya.
Who are you?
Very few people came to visit, and Wu Ma had almost forgotten about these familiar faces from Jiangzhou.
Lin Yuan walked in with a cheerful laugh, "Mrs. Lu, are you feeling better? I'm sorry to come see you so late. My house has been in a mess the whole time, so I haven't had time to come over..."
Lin Xiaoya followed closely behind, placing the fruit basket aside.
She obediently called out "Auntie" and then fell silent.
Qin Fengying's good mood vanished instantly. "You, you're here to laugh at me? Baoyun, throw them out!"
Lu Baoyun glared at Lin Xiaoya, "What do you mean by this?"
Lin Yuan stepped forward. "Baoyun, we're not bad people. We just came to visit your mother."
"Regardless of our previous relationship, now that the Lin and Lu families are cooperating deeply, we can't let outsiders laugh at us, can we?"
After saying that, she turned her head slightly and gave Lin Xiaoya a wink.
