Chapter 45 Be Your Backer

Lu Gengsheng slept soundly that night, coughing only twice, but his breathing was relatively smooth and he remained awake.

The next morning, Aunt Liu brought over a bowl of sweet and delicious white fungus and lotus seed porridge.

Looking at the abundant ingredients in the porridge, Lu Yi suddenly felt that something was wrong.

Aunt Liu is a thrifty woman who usually wouldn't even buy a bag of spicy strips for her child, so why did she put so many lotus seeds in it?

Lotus seeds are not cheap!

"Yi'er, Lao Lu, eat quickly, don't let it get cold. Yi'er still has to go to the city, so don't bother cleaning up the dishes and chopsticks, and leave the clothes there, I'll wash them in a bit."

Aunt Liu urged them on hurriedly a few times, then turned around and went back to her work.

"Uncle, how are you feeling today?"

Lu Yi realized he had been overthinking things. He blew on the porridge to cool it down, scooped out a spoonful, and fed it to Lu Gensheng.

"I'm not crippled. You eat yours, I'll do it myself."

Lu Gengsheng's deep-set eyes were filled with a smile. "I'm fine. My chest doesn't feel tight anymore. If it doesn't rain tomorrow, I can go on a mountain patrol."

Don't be reckless!

Lu Yi knew that he shouldn't stop him from doing whatever he wanted, but he still couldn't help but remind him.

...

Arriving at the entrance of "Sweet Whispers and Iced Tears," Lu Yi saw the deserted scene and thought the shop had gone out of business.

He peered through the door, only to have it suddenly pulled open from the inside. "Lu Yi?"

Liang Shiyue was so surprised she almost cried. "Why are you here? Is Uncle Lu feeling better? Come in quickly, we were just about to call you!"

"He's much better. I was so focused on getting there that I didn't have time to check my phone..."

As soon as Lu Yi entered, he saw the store manager and staff sitting lazily to the side, and the preparation table was full of food, which puzzled him.

"What's wrong? Why aren't you putting it outside?"

Lin Xiaoya's nose was bright red, and her eyes were like two ripe peaches. She pointed at the shop manager and said, "You should tell him. I'm afraid he won't understand if I cry while I'm talking."

The store manager briefly explained the whole story, and Lu Yi hurriedly asked, "Did you call the police? Could it be a malicious cancellation?"

The store manager shook his head dejectedly; he didn't seem to be doing well either.

"It's been reported, and the police have verified that the recipient and address are real. The person who canceled the order has a valid reason, saying that the taste is strange, it doesn't taste good, and it's unhygienic, etc."

Lu Yi felt something was off about this. "Should we report it to the platform?"

Lin Xiaoya frowned, "It's no use. The platform said that the return rate for food orders is higher every summer. They checked those accounts and found nothing unusual."

The store manager is experienced and skilled, having worked in the industry for many years, but this is the first time he has encountered such a tricky situation, and he can't figure out the root cause of the problem.

He went behind the bar, quickly prepared a cup of milk tea with the highest return rate, his eyes eager yet slightly defiant, "Lu Yi, you try it..."

Lu Yi took a big gulp without hesitation, "No problem... Is it possible that the delivery driver was delayed too long on the way?"

Liang Shiyue bit her thumb and said firmly, "No. Of these dozens of orders, except for one that was delayed by five minutes because the delivery driver had an accident on the road, all the others were delivered on time."

The fact that this type of order cancellation is targeted at a single store is itself quite strange.

The less problems can be found, the higher the possibility of human error.

Clearing his mind of distractions, Lu Yi pondered for a moment, then suddenly felt a jolt of fear. "Senior Lin, Xiao Yue, come out for a second..."

As soon as she voiced her guess, Lin Xiaoya broke down.

"What! You mean Gu Huainan?"

She pounded her head and exchanged a wry smile with Liang Shiyue. "I almost forgot about this person. If it really is him, then everything makes sense!"

Liang Shiyue frowned. "Lu Yi, what should we do? If this continues, Xiaoya's shop will be lost!"

No one wants their hard work to go to waste, especially since Lin Xiaoya hadn't done anything wrong.

Lu Yi's voice was barely audible, "The method is very simple... just like this!"

Lin Xiaoya and Liang Shiyue stared in astonishment, mouths agape. "No way, can he really believe something this trivial?"

"Whether he believes it or not is not important. What is important is that as long as he stops causing trouble, it means that Gu Huainan is targeting Senior Lin."

"Perhaps he has another purpose, which is to lure me out in this way, since I'm the one who ruined his plans!"

Lu Yi's guess was well-founded and insightful, leaving the two women with no way to refute it.

"Senior Lin, Xiaoyue, don't wander around. Prepare to close the shop and let everyone go home and rest. I'll go to that street to print out the transfer notices for you; we'll see the results soon!"

Liang Shiyue wanted to go with them, but she was worried about Lin Xiaoya.

She stepped forward, took Lu Yi's hand, and said softly, "Then be careful. We'll wait for you in the shop."

...

"Lu Yi, look this way!"

Lu Yi had just come out of the print shop when Fan Huijun, sitting in her car, waved to him.

"Prime location for sale? How can a store that just opened be for sale? What happened?"

"It's nothing, someone's just trying to sabotage us, we'll use this method to stall for time."

"You're really quick-witted... However, the key to the success of the delaying tactic is strong follow-up support and a powerful backer. Playing tricks might backfire. What do you think of me?"

"you?"

Lu Yi's eyes lit up, and he said, half-jokingly, "Alright, if there's a next time, let them mention your name, Miss Fan!"

"But how did you find your way here?"

Fan Huijun went to the cemetery early in the morning to visit Lu Gengsheng and told him that the will procedures were complete and that her friends at the law firm were willing to be his executor.
