Chapter 11 Threatening Me?
Just then, another understated yet luxurious Bentley slowly drove up.
The car door opened, and Shen Wangchuan got out first, then opened the passenger door.
Next up was Shen Yurou, dressed in a pure white dress, looking like a delicate white lotus in the wind.
The two had clearly just returned from outside.
As soon as Shen Yurou got out of the car, her gaze was fixed on the figure at the door who exuded a powerful sense of oppression.
When she recognized Jiang Yubai, her eyes instantly lit up with surprise.
"Brother Yu Bai!"
Shen Yurou's voice carried just the right amount of surprise and vulnerability as she lifted her skirt and tried to run towards Jiang Yubai.
However, her joyful steps froze on the spot.
Because she saw that Yu Bai, who usually spoke gently to her, didn't even spare her a glance.
His bloodshot eyes were fixed intently on Shen Yuepo.
The next second, something even more heartbreaking happened.
Jiang Yubai completely ignored her presence, and even ignored Shen Wangchuan standing next to him.
He strode towards Shen Yuepo, his voice hoarse and urgent: "Get in the car!"
The color drained from Shen Yurou's face instantly.
The look of surprise that had just been in her eyes was instantly replaced by disbelief.
He froze on the spot, swaying precariously.
A layer of moisture quickly filled those beautiful eyes, her long eyelashes trembled violently, and she swayed as if she were about to collapse.
"Yu Rou!" Shen Wangchuan quickly caught his swaying sister.
Seeing her face turn deathly pale and her eyes filled with hurt, a surge of anger instantly rose within him.
He suddenly looked up, his gaze fixed on Shen Yuepo.
How did she meet Jiang Yubai?
Shen Yuepo didn't even glance at the angry brother and sister, as if they were just insignificant background figures.
She walked straight past Shen Wangchuan, who was blocking her way, opened the car door, and got in without hesitation.
The car door slammed shut.
The engine roared to life, and the black Cullinan shot off like an arrow.
Inside the car.
Jiang Yubai gripped the steering wheel tightly with both hands, his knuckles turning white from the force, and the veins on the back of his hands bulging.
He stared straight ahead, the car moving at an astonishing speed, his taut profile visible.
Sudden--
He slammed on the brakes.
The ear-piercing sound of tires screeching filled the air.
The Cullinan came to an abrupt stop in the middle of a deserted side road in an extremely dangerous manner.
Jiang Yubai's bloodshot eyes were fixed on Shen Yuepo in the passenger seat.
"explain!"
A hoarse roar escaped his throat, "Where is Wanxing?! If you dare to play me—"
He suddenly leaned in, pressing closer with a suffocating sense of oppression.
His handsome face was slightly contorted with anger, and his voice was full of threat:
"Shen Yuepo, I don't care if you're the newly recognized eldest daughter of the Shen family, or if you're using some kind of sorcery or evil magic to play tricks..."
"If you dare to joke about Wanxing's life or death, I, Jiang Yubai, swear—"
A hint of madness flashed across his eyes:
“I will make you regret being born. I will skin you inch by inch… inch by inch.”
Shen Yuepo calmly raised her eyes to meet Jiang Yubai's gaze.
"Threatening me?" Shen Yuepo finally spoke, without the slightest emotional fluctuation.
"For Xiao Wanxing's sake, I won't hold it against you."
Her gaze fell on his hands, gripping the steering wheel tightly, his knuckles white:
“I have no reason to lie to you. Xiao Wanxing is indeed dead. Her body is at the bottom of the deep-water scenic lake behind the Yuhu Yao Resort Villa in the suburbs.”
"I'll point out the exact location when we get to the lake."
Seeing the aura of despair emanating from Jiang Yubai, Shen Yuepo slightly raised her hand, interrupting him:
"But before that, you'd better calm down and listen to what I have to say."
"Finding her body and fulfilling her last wishes is the most important thing you should do now."
"As for the cause of her death," Shen Yuepo paused, her gaze becoming deep, "I think it would be better if she told you herself."
"I...I can still see her?!" Jiang Yubai's voice suddenly rose, and he grabbed Shen Yuepo's wrist. "Where is she?!"
Shen Yuepo pulled her hand back in disgust. "Last night, she was still resentful and her soul was unstable. She came to this Shen family's main residence... and I protected her temporarily."
Her gaze fell on Jiang Yubai's face. "Her last wish was not revenge."
Shen Yuepo's voice was very soft, carrying a hint of barely perceptible regret:
"She just wants to see you and her family one last time."
"Enough!"
Jiang Yubai slammed his fist hard on the steering wheel.
He didn't want to believe it, but Shen Yuepo's tone inexplicably told him that what she said was true.
He slumped over the steering wheel, his broad shoulders trembling uncontrollably, and suppressed sobs escaped his throat intermittently.
Shen Yuepo watched him collapse silently.
Inside the carriage, the suppressed sobs lasted for what seemed like an eternity, or perhaps only a few minutes.
Jiang Yubai finally raised his head, wiped his face haphazardly, and forcibly suppressed all his vulnerability and collapse back into his heart.
He didn't look at Shen Yuepo again, but suddenly shifted gears, stepped on the gas, and the black Cullinan roared out again, heading straight for the Yuhu Yao Villa on the outskirts of the city.
When they arrived at the gate of the European-style villa hidden in the dense greenery, they found another black SUV already parked there.
The car door opened, and a man wearing a thin silk shirt stood with his back to them in front of the closed gate.
He stood tall and straight like a pine tree, with a cold and aloof demeanor. Just by standing there, he exuded an invisible sense of oppression.
He seemed to be on the phone, his voice low and steady.
"Yes, Wangchuan, it's me, Yizhou."
"It's nothing serious. I just heard from Yu Bai that your Yuhu Yao Villa has a nice view. The old man is in good spirits lately and wants to find a quiet place to hold a small banquet to entertain a few old friends."
"Yes, it's just a matter of the last couple of days. It was a spur-of-the-moment decision. I was thinking of stopping by to take a look at the site while I'm passing through. Could you please ask the guards here to open the gate?"
"...Okay, thanks."
The call ended. The man turned around.
That face bore a striking resemblance to Xiao Wanxing's features.
It was none other than Xiao Yizhou, the eldest son of the Xiao family.
Jiang Yubai saw Xiao Yizhou and his lips moved: "Yizhou..."
On the way, Jiang Yubai sent a message to Xiao Yizhou.
Xiao Yizhou's gaze swept lightly over Jiang Yubai's bloodshot eyes, then fell on Shen Yuepo, who got off the car afterward.
"Go in." Xiao Yizhou's voice was flat, revealing no emotion.
He turned to the closed door, almost as soon as he finished speaking—
A series of hurried footsteps came from inside the villa, and a middle-aged man in a security guard uniform jogged over and deftly unlocked the front door.
"Young Master Xiao, Young Master Jiang, please come in! President Shen just gave the instructions!"
The security guard bowed and scraped, but his eyes couldn't help but glance curiously at Shen Yuepo, who was standing behind Jiang Yubai in a gray-blue Taoist robe.
They clearly did not recognize the young lady whom the Shen family had just taken in.
The group walked through the empty front yard and headed straight for the back of the villa.
The air is becoming increasingly damp and chilly.
After passing the main villa building, a huge deep-water landscape lake comes into view.
The lake water was clear, but the bottom was not visible.
Shen Yuepo stood a little further away, calmly looking at the lake.
Her gaze fixed on one spot, and she pointed with her fingertip, "There—scoop it up."
The salvage team members brought by Xiao Yizhou immediately sprang into action.
The heavy equipment was lifted down, and ropes, hooks, and underwater lights were put into place one by one.
The entire process was permeated with a suffocating sense of heaviness.
