Chapter 177 Feng Jin, Happy Birthday
Horse-faced demon led Shen Yuepo to Feng Jin's main bedroom.
The interior furnishings were simple, reflecting the cold and dignified atmosphere of the master of the sleeping quarters.
The vast space was almost entirely filled with deep black, and the floor was made of smooth, mirror-like crystal.
The dome hangs high, painted with images of flowing stars and the River Styx, exuding an ancient and unchanging atmosphere of solitude.
There was very little furniture; a large imperial couch was placed beside the hall, with almost no superfluous decorations or warm colors.
This place doesn't resemble a residence; it's more like a throne symbolizing power.
It really fits the style of Feng Jin.
Shen Yuepo looked around and pondered to himself.
"My lord, please wait here for a moment. The Emperor should be back soon."
After giving Shen Yuepo some food, Horse-Face tactfully bowed and withdrew, leaving Shen Yuepo alone in the large bedchamber.
After Shen Yuepo finished eating, Feng Jin still did not return.
She had intended to stay awake and wait for him to return, but after a sleepless night of crafting the ring, she was exhausted and sleepiness gradually crept in.
Shen Yuepo walked to the imperial bed covered with black velvet, sat down, and leaned against the bedpost.
Before I knew it, I closed my eyes and drifted into a light sleep.
Meanwhile, the banquet continued.
The various deities and emperors toasted each other, chatting and laughing.
Feng Jin sat high in the main seat, his dark imperial robes making his face appear even more cold and stern.
His slender fingers toyed with the wine cup in his hand, but his eyes remained calm and indifferent, as if the hustle and bustle before him had nothing to do with him.
He had long been impatient with this kind of socializing. His gaze swept over the slightly tipsy or pretending to be tipsy immortals below, and he only found it noisy.
With a slight movement of the fingertips, the phone slid into the palm of the hand.
Open the chat window with Shen Yuepo.
The last message was still that picture of dinner, along with the phrase "I'm eating now."
He stared at the three words for a few seconds, his thin lips pressed into a straight line, and then he let out a cold snort.
Feng Jin expressionlessly put his phone back into his sleeve, as if discarding something that was in his way.
He suddenly stood up, and his powerful aura instantly quieted the noisy banquet.
He picked up the wine cup in front of him, raised it slightly downwards, and said in a detached voice, "Gentlemen, enjoy yourselves. I am not a good drinker and will go to rest first."
After saying that, without waiting for anyone's reaction, he tilted his head back and drank the wine in his glass in one gulp.
The crisp liquor slid down my throat, but it couldn't quell the unease in my heart.
The Great Emperor of the Eastern Peak, holding a wine cup, leaned over and said with a teasing smile, "Why are you leaving early again? It's the same every year, so boring."
Feng Jin glanced at him sideways, his eyes filled with undisguised disdain:
"Hmph, you all use my birthday as an excuse to come to Fengdu every year to freeload off my treasured Netherworld Wine. Am I supposed to put on a smiling face and entertain you?"
Upon hearing this, the Great Emperor of the Eastern Peak was not embarrassed at all. Instead, he laughed heartily and patted him on the shoulder: "Who told you that Fengdu's Wangchuan Yin and Youming Niang are the best in the Three Realms!"
He swirled his wine glass. "Besides, we're just trying to bring some life to your cold and lifeless Fengdu!"
Feng Jin ignored him, gave a cold snort, and turned to walk slowly toward the imperial palace.
Not far from the palace gates, the silent sky above Fengdu suddenly lit up.
"Boom! Boom! Boom!"
Countless dazzling fireworks exploded against the gray sky.
Golden flames, deep blue lotuses, crimson spider lilies...
Their varied shapes and breathtaking beauty illuminated the entire city of Fengdu as if it were daytime.
The dazzling light and shadow reflected in Feng Jin's dark golden eyes, illuminating his handsome and otherworldly face.
He paused slightly, his eyes reflecting the dazzling fireworks in the sky, and a slight smile finally appeared on his tightly pursed lips.
Shen Tu actually put in a bit more effort than those old guys from Dongyue who only knew how to freeload.
Although it was still noisy, the ghostly flames that burned for him were indeed...not bad.
The lights of fireworks bloomed and faded behind him, like a galaxy laid out for him.
When Feng Jin stepped into the cold and empty bedroom, his steps suddenly stopped.
The hall was not lit; only the glow of the eerie fireworks that had not yet been extinguished outside the window shone through the huge window frames.
Amidst the flowing light and shadow, a splash of red, utterly out of place in the eerie stillness, leaned against the imperial bed.
Shen Yuepo wore a maple-red long dress, her long hair cascading down her shoulders like an ink waterfall.
In the dim light, her delicate profile was softly defined, her long eyelashes drooping, as if she were fast asleep.
That intense red, like a leaping flame, unexpectedly crashed into Feng Jin's eyes.
It instantly ignited his dormant heart, bringing warmth to the entire cold imperial palace.
A strange emotion welled up in his heart, and he unconsciously slowed his pace.
Almost holding her breath, she walked step by step to the bedside.
Just as he reached out to pick up the sleeping Chen Yuepo.
Shen Yuepo's long eyelashes trembled, and she slowly opened her eyes.
Shen Yuepo had just woken up, her eyes still filled with a hint of dazed moisture from the sleep.
When she saw Feng Jin so close to her, she was slightly taken aback.
Immediately, the confusion faded away. She didn't get up, but simply raised her hand and took out the small black velvet box.
She handed the box to Feng Jin, her voice slightly hoarse from just waking up, yet crystal clear: "Happy birthday, Feng Jin."
Feng Jin's gaze fell on the small box, his pupils contracting slightly.
He took the box, but didn't open it immediately. Instead, he looked up at Shen Yuepo and said in a low voice, "...I thought you wouldn't come."
Shen Yuepo didn't explain, but simply sat up straight, took the velvet box back from his palm, and pressed it lightly with his fingers.
"Clatter".
The lid pops open.
Two rings lay inside.
Shen Yuepo handed the opened box to Feng Jin, "Do you like it?"
She looked at him and asked softly, her eyes clear and direct.
Feng Jin's gaze fell on the ring, and he was as if he had been struck by a spell that immobilized him.
A piece of information about rings on a certain app flashed through his mind.
This is called a couple's ring, and it's a token that only people who are engaged will give to each other.
Shen Yuepo saw that he was just standing there, not saying anything, and not making any movements.
His handsome brows furrowed slightly, and his tone carried a hint of tension and dissatisfaction that he himself was unaware of:
"I made this myself, staying up all night. Don't you like it?"
She even reached out as if to take the box back.
Just then, Feng Jin looked up at her, his Adam's apple bobbing violently, his voice somewhat hoarse:
"Chen Yuepo, do you know what this represents?"
Shen Yuepo met his burning gaze, which was almost melting, without flinching.
She suddenly reached out and grabbed Feng Jin's wrist, which was holding the box.
With her other hand, she took the ring from the velvet box.
"I know."
Her voice wasn't loud, but it was exceptionally clear, like jade striking each other, each word striking Feng Jin's heart.
She took Feng Jin's slightly cool left hand, her fingertips trembling slightly, and pushed the ring into the ring finger of his left hand.
The black jade ring automatically conformed to Feng Jin's finger, and the crimson fire crystal, like a brand, shimmered with a breathtaking light.
After doing all this, Shen Yuepo raised her eyes, looked directly into Feng Jin's eyes, and slowly smiled:
"Feng Jin, I think I can give you a definite answer to your previous question."
Her voice was soft, yet it resonated throughout the silent bedchamber: "Feng Jin, I love you."
She paused, then her smile deepened. "I like it more... than you imagined."
As soon as he finished speaking, Feng Jin felt as if time and space had frozen completely at that moment.
He could neither hear the lingering echoes of fireworks outside the palace nor see the ghostly glow outside the window.
All that remained in his eyes was the smiling face before him and her crystal-clear words, "I like you."
