Chapter 75 We didn't come to Qingchuan on purpose to hide it from you
Shen Yuepo stood in front of the gate of the Shen family's old mansion.
She stepped forward and raised her hand to kowtow three times.
The door was pulled open a crack.
Uncle Zhang's wrinkled face appeared behind the door.
When he saw the figure standing outside the door, his eyes widened in surprise. "...Young Miss?"
Shen Yuepo's gaze passed over him, landing deep within the main house, and he asked directly, "Where are they?"
She was referring to Chairman Shen and his wife, and the Shen brothers, Wangchuan and his wife.
"They're all in the study discussing matters..." Uncle Zhang answered subconsciously, then realized something and quickly added, "The chairman, his wife, and the two young masters are all here."
"Hmm." Shen Yuepo responded faintly and stepped across the threshold.
She paused as she crossed the front yard, turning to look at Uncle Zhang: "Where do I live?"
Uncle Zhang was clearly stunned.
The last time this young lady came back alone, she stayed in a guest room.
But at this moment, she specifically asked...
"Miss, is the same room as last time... Is it suitable for you?" he asked cautiously.
Shen Yuepo did not answer, but simply gestured for him to lead the way.
The guest rooms are located on the west side of the courtyard. Although they are spotless, they still feel deserted and desolate.
Uncle Zhang turned on the light, and the warm yellow light dispelled the chill in the room.
"Please rest, Miss. Do not hesitate to ask if you need anything," Uncle Zhang said, bowing.
Shen Yuepo didn't look at him, but walked to the window, opened it, and let the outside air in.
"I understand," she said calmly.
Uncle Zhang bowed and left, gently closing the door behind him.
The moment the door closed, the respect on his face was immediately replaced by a hint of anxiety.
He then quickly walked through the corridor and arrived at the door of the study on the second floor of the main house, and gently knocked on the door.
"Come in," came Chairman Shen's voice from inside.
Uncle Zhang pushed open the door and entered.
The study was brightly lit, but the atmosphere was unusually heavy.
Chairman Shen sat in the main seat of the sofa, his face ashen; Madam Shen leaned against a corner of the sofa, her eyes red and swollen, her expression dazed, clearly having just cried.
Shen Wangchuan stood by the window, the cigar between his fingers burned to the end; Shen Yichuan paced irritably around the room.
Uncle Zhang dared not look any longer and bowed his head to report:
"Chairman, Madam, Eldest Young Master, Second Young Master, and Miss have arrived and have been settled into their guest rooms."
Upon hearing this, Madam Shen abruptly raised her head and instinctively reached out to tightly grasp Chairman Shen's arm.
"Husband! Is Yue Po...is she here to sever ties with family?! Is she?!"
Her voice was trembling and choked with sobs. The grief of losing Shen Yurou had not yet subsided, and the fear of severing ties with Shen Yuepo gripped her again.
Chairman Shen patted Madam Shen's hand in return, trying to comfort her, "Don't be afraid, as long as we don't agree, this kinship can't be broken."
He took a deep breath, as if speaking to everyone present:
"The three masters we invited are all highly skilled. The formation they set up together will definitely break the feng shui of this old house tonight."
Shen Wangchuan didn't speak, but his left hand, hanging at his side, unconsciously tightened.
Chairman Shen's words acted like a shot in the arm, temporarily stabilizing Madam Shen's emotions, which were on the verge of collapse.
The panic in her eyes subsided slightly. She raised her hand to wipe away the tears on her face, took a deep breath, and struggled to stand up.
“Husband, you’re right…” Her voice was still hoarse from sobbing, but she tried to force a calm expression. “As long as we don’t agree, blood ties… blood ties can’t be severed.”
She repeated Chairman Chen's words, as if hypnotizing herself, "Those three masters can definitely do it! They can definitely do it!"
She took a deep breath and tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear: "I'll go check on Yuepo. It's dinnertime; I'll ask her what she'd like to eat."
Chairman Shen nodded: "Okay, go ahead. Don't mention Yu Rou's matter for now."
"Understood," Madam Shen replied softly.
Upon hearing this, Shen Wangchuan turned around and said, "Mom, I'll go with you."
The mother and son left the oppressive study one after the other and arrived at the door of the guest room where Shen Yuepo was.
Shen Wangchuan raised his hand and gently knocked on the door.
At this moment, Shen Yuepo was standing by the open window inside the room.
The evening breeze carried the unique coolness of the old house, ruffling the stray hairs on her forehead.
Her gaze fell on the backyard of the old house.
From her room, one could vaguely see several eerie lights from special magical artifacts flickering on the specially cleared open space in the backyard.
Several figures dressed in different ways, some holding compasses and others setting up flags, were busy surveying the area and talking in hushed tones.
A knock sounded on the door. Shen Yuepo calmly withdrew her gaze, turned to face the door, and said, "Come in."
The door was pushed open, and Madam Shen and Shen Wangchuan walked in.
Madam Shen tried her best to maintain a gentle smile. "Moon Soul."
She took a few steps closer. "Are you hungry? What would you like for dinner? I'll have the kitchen make it for you."
She paused, as if feeling she should explain something, then quickly added, "Um... we didn't come to Qingchuan on purpose to hide it from you, it's your father..."
"knew."
Shen Yuepo interrupted her calmly.
She doesn't need an explanation, nor does she care to hear one.
The room fell into a suffocating silence.
All the concern and explanations that Madam Shen had prepared got stuck in her throat, her smile froze, and she looked somewhat embarrassed and helpless.
She looked to her son beside her for help.
Shen Wangchuan took half a step forward, his gaze fixed on Shen Yuepo.
Compared to Madam Shen's panic, he appeared much calmer.
“Moon Soul,” he said bluntly, “you should have guessed why we’ve come back this time.”
Shen Yuepo met his gaze calmly, without any denial or surprise, simply waiting for him to continue.
"The feng shui of the old house," Shen Wangchuan's gaze seemed to casually sweep out the window, "we'll resolve it tonight."
After listening, Shen Yuepo's face remained expressionless.
She simply nodded slightly. "Are you sure... you don't need me to intervene?"
Her voice remained calm, without any threat or sarcasm.
Shen Wangchuan's pupils contracted slightly.
Shen Yuepo's reaction was too calm, frighteningly calm.
Her question was more like a condescending scrutiny, a nonchalant wait to see them hit a wall.
He took a deep breath, forcibly suppressing the tremor in his heart, and maintained a calm demeanor:
"No need. The three masters are all leaders in their fields and are well-prepared; they are more than capable of handling this."
Upon hearing this, Shen Yuepo showed no displeasure in his eyes, but simply nodded again: "Mm."
Unable to bear the heavy atmosphere in the room any longer, Madam Shen finally spoke up, "Moon Spirit, we're leaving now. We'll come back to call you at dinner time."
She practically fled, her steps faltering as she walked toward the door.
Shen Wangchuan took a deep look at Shen Yuepo, who was still standing by the window, and then turned to follow Madam Shen.
"Shen Wangchuan."
He had only taken two steps when Shen Yuepo's cold voice suddenly rang out: "What's Uncle Zhang's name?"
Shen Wangchuan paused, turning around with a furrowed brow: "Uncle Zhang? His real name is Zhang Zude. Why are you suddenly asking about this?"
Madam Shen, who had already reached the door, stopped and turned around in confusion.
Shen Yuepo's voice was exceptionally clear in the silent room:
"Given your trust in those three masters, they must have already told you—"
She slightly raised her eyes and said, word by word, "The real culprit behind this Yin-gathering and evil-locking feng shui formation is none other than Zhang Zude, isn't he?"
As soon as she finished speaking, all color drained from Madam Shen's face, leaving only horror and disbelief:
“Wh…what? Uncle Zhang?! How could it be Uncle Zhang?! He’s been with the Shen family for almost twenty years, how could he…”
She was incoherent; the shock was so great that she almost lost her balance and instinctively grabbed the door frame for support.
A chill ran down my back.
Shen Wangchuan stared intently at Shen Yuepo, his voice hoarse and dry with shock:
"What...what did you say? The masters said the key to the formation is inside the old house, and only after the formation is broken can we find out who was behind it..."
