Chapter 46 A Desperate Situation for a Couple
Faced with the provocation, Shen Yuepo didn't even lift an eyelid.
She seemed not to hear the jarring laughter, nor to see the dirty shoe stepping on the signboard.
Just as the blond thug was about to impatiently reach out and slap her, Shen Yuepo slowly raised her head.
Those cold, clear eyes locked onto the face of the blond-haired leader.
“You,” her voice wasn’t loud, but it clearly pierced through the noise, causing the blond thug’s smirk to freeze for a moment.
"The second child in the family, his father died early, his mother was often ill, and he had an older sister who married far away in the south and has not returned for three years."
The blond thug's smile froze instantly, and the cigarette he was holding fell to the ground with a thud.
His eyes widened as if he had seen a ghost:
"How...how did you know?!"
His father died in a car accident when he was ten years old, his mother does take medication regularly, and his sister has been married and moved to Rongcheng for three years without returning home.
Even his two brothers didn't know the details of these things!
The crowd fell silent instantly, and everyone held their breath.
Shen Yuepo's gaze swept over the coiled snake tattoo on his left arm, her voice completely calm:
"A snake coils around your left arm, its tail wrapped around a scar on your heart. Three years ago, in the scrap yard of the old steel mill in the eastern suburbs, you fought with someone over a woman, stabbed him, and fled to the south. The scar was hidden under the snake's tail, and you thought it was harmless."
The blond thug's face turned deathly pale in an instant, and his body began to tremble uncontrollably.
This happened three years ago...
How could she possibly know?! A chill ran from the soles of my feet straight to the top of my head.
Shen Yuepo's gaze did not linger, but slowly moved downwards, landing on the foot that was stepping on the signboard:
"Your shoes are new, but they're covered in mud and have a dirty look. Last night at 9 PM, in the west of the city, you and others robbed a drunk girl on her way home. She struggled, but you pushed her, and she hit her head against the wall and fainted. The money is in your left trouser pocket."
"boom!"
The blond thug felt as if a thunderbolt had exploded in his mind.
His legs buckled, and he knelt down straight in front of Shen Yuepo, all traces of his previous arrogance gone.
He was trembling like a leaf, his eyes filled with extreme fear, and his voice was choked with sobs, almost a wail:
"Master...Master! I was wrong! Please...please stop talking! Please save me! I don't want to go to jail!"
The two thugs behind him who had initially joined in the commotion were now terrified, their faces pale, and they retreated repeatedly, looking at Chen Yuepo as if he were a living Yama.
Shen Yuepo lowered her eyes to look at the blond-haired man kneeling at her feet, tears streaming down his face:
"His forehead is dark and his face is contorted with rage. If he does not repent and turn himself in within a day, he will surely face imprisonment and bloodshed."
"I'll turn myself in! I'll turn myself in right now! I'll pay you back right away!" The blond thug was terrified and kowtowed repeatedly.
"Please, Master, show me a way to survive! I beg you! I'll never do it again! I'll serve you like a slave!"
Shen Yuepo stopped looking at him, her gaze seemingly piercing through the crowd, landing precisely on the sports car parked on the roadside in the distance.
Startled, Shen Yichuan quickly closed the car window.
"A way out?"
She withdrew her gaze and looked at the people at her feet who were kowtowing repeatedly. "Confess, return the stolen goods, and sincerely repent, and there may be a glimmer of hope. If you commit evil deeds again... the next calamity will be that of a doomed couple."
The last sentence struck the blond thug's heart like a heavy hammer.
He suddenly remembered his girlfriend, who was still waiting for him to "make it big" and come back to marry her...
A pair of doomed lovers?
Overwhelmed by immense fear, he could no longer utter a word, simply collapsing to the ground, and uncontrollably reaching into his pocket to pull out his phone to call the police.
The onlookers were in an uproar.
"Pretty convincing, huh?" The young man in the plaid t-shirt sneered, holding up his phone. "Are scammers getting this realistic these days?"
The middle-aged woman carrying a shopping basket chimed in, "Whether it's a scam or not, we'll know when the police arrive!"
Sitting in the sports car, Shen Yichuan met Shen Yuepo's icy gaze that pierced through the crowd through the car window, and felt a chill creep up his spine.
He slammed on the gas, and the sports car roared to life as it fled the scene in a panic.
That brat, she's really good at fortune telling!
A short while later, the sound of police sirens grew louder as Huang Mao and his gang were taken away.
Shen Yuepo calmly cooperated with the police's questioning.
When the police asked her to go to the police station with them, she simply nodded.
Before turning around, she glanced at the group of onlookers who were still peering in, her voice cutting through the noise:
"I'll be back in a bit."
"Calculate three divinations."
The sirens faded into the distance, and the brief commotion on the overpass subsided.
The crowd did not disperse; instead, it grew larger and more crowded than before.
When Shen Yuepo's figure reappeared at the entrance of the sky bridge, a low murmur spontaneously arose among the crowd.
"They're back! They're really back!"
"I told you it wasn't a scam! The police took those three thugs away."
"My God, that scene just now was like a deity enlightening a villain..."
"Hurry up and get in line! The master said he'll be telling fortunes again when he gets back!"
People spontaneously made way for him, their eyes fixed on Shen Yuepo.
Ignoring the scorching gazes around her, Shen Yuepo walked straight back to her secluded corner.
He rearranged the simple little stool and placed the battered cardboard sign in front of him.
"Three divinations today."
She raised her eyes, her cool voice not loud, yet clearly drowning out the surrounding noise, "The rest of you, please leave."
The crowd instantly stirred. "Master, please make an exception and look at a few more! I've been waiting all morning!"
"Yes, Master, there's a real emergency at my home!"
"Master, I'll add more money! Ten times the amount!"
However, Shen Yuepo simply shook his head slightly, his gaze calmly sweeping over the anxious faces, and repeated, "Only three divinations."
Although some in the crowd were disappointed, having witnessed her methods just now, no one dared to force her.
After a moment's hesitation, a small number of people slowly dispersed.
However, a large number of people remained where they were, waiting to see what would happen.
Shen Yuepo ignored the lingering crowd and turned her gaze to the first person in line seeking divination.
A young girl who looked to be in her early twenties, with delicate features but a worried expression.
She was wearing a faded white dress, her fingers nervously twisting the hem of the dress. Under Shen Yuepo's cold gaze, she appeared somewhat uneasy.
She took a deep breath, squatted down in front of the small stool, her voice trembling slightly:
"Great...Master,"
She mustered her courage and spoke, her eyes instantly welling up with tears. "I...I want to ask you to tell me, is my boyfriend my soulmate? Can...can we be together in the end?"
By the end, tears were welling up in my eyes.
Clearly, the girl was deeply troubled by her relationship and placed almost all her hopes on this fortune-telling.
