The group chat completely erupted, filled with congratulations, groans, and calls to volunteer.
Feng Jin glanced at the chaotic group chat with satisfaction, and the displeasure he felt from being excluded earlier finally dissipated somewhat.
He handed the phone back to Shen Yuepo and snorted coldly, "I want to see if they will still exclude me after this."
Shen Yuepo had already washed and dressed, and was leaning against the door watching his series of childish yet vengeful actions, and couldn't help but chuckle.
She stepped forward, smoothed out a non-existent wrinkle on his lapel, looked up into his eyes, and spoke with a gentle smile:
“Feng Jin, actually… if you smiled at them more, maybe they wouldn’t be so afraid of you.”
She remembered how sometimes she was afraid of Horse-Face, yet he had done his share of absurd things, and how Ox-Head was honest and straightforward, unable to keep a secret:
"Judging from the words and actions of Horse-Face and Ox-Head, you are actually quite kind to your subordinates."
Upon hearing this, Feng Jin grasped her hand, which was resting on his lapel, and gently kissed it. He looked at her intently, his voice low and earnest:
"I don't care whether they're afraid of me or not."
He took her hand, their fingers intertwined, and turned to continue walking out of the hall.
"I only care about you."
Shen Yuepo felt a warmth in her heart at his straightforward words. She gently hooked her fingertips around his palm and smiled:
"With your mouth, no wonder you were left out of the Netherworld Family group chat."
Feng Jin didn't stop walking, he just snorted coldly.
Meng Guichen is on duty at the Bridge of Helplessness today.
Under the guise of visiting her senior brother, Shen Yuepo easily smuggled Lin Yanxin out of the not-so-stricken Rebirth Hall.
With a flick of his sleeve, Feng Jin caused familiar ripples to appear in the surrounding space once again.
The scene before them blurred, and the three found themselves in the Void and Still Temple.
The mountain air was crisp and clear in winter, carrying the familiar scent of incense.
Not far away, a figure dressed in a simple Taoist robe could be seen sweeping the ground with a large broom, his movements meticulous, even a little too energetic.
Hearing the noise, the figure looked up, paused for a moment, then beamed with delight, dropped the broom, and ran over.
"Fellow Daoists! You're finally back! I was so worried!" Zhang Qingyuan ran over, his face showing genuine concern.
Lin Yanxin looked around in disbelief, confirming that this was her familiar territory.
Looking at Zhang Qingyuan's honest and home-loving demeanor, he nodded with satisfaction and spoke in a feigned manner:
"Hmm, Lao Zhang, not bad. You've been quite diligent in managing the temple while I was away."
Shen Yuepo smiled and nodded to Zhang Qingyuan: "Fellow Daoist Zhang, thank you for your hard work."
She thought of the Lu siblings and asked, "By the way, where are Lu Jin and Lu Zheng?"
Zhang Qingyuan pointed towards the east wing of the temple and lowered his voice, saying, "They're probably still sleeping. But seriously, ever since those two siblings arrived, wow, people have been bringing food up the mountain almost every day!"
"As a result, my food standards have skyrocketed. Look at me, am I almost getting fat?" He patted his belly, a little embarrassed.
Shen Yuepo understood; this must be because Lu's parents were worried and were trying to improve their son and daughter's lives.
She nodded. "The biggest hidden danger has been resolved. We can let them go back in a couple of days."
Then, remembering Zhao Yan's request, she looked at Zhang Qingyuan and asked seriously:
"By the way, Fellow Daoist Zhang, there's something I'd like to ask for your help with. Captain Zhao of the Special Cases Bureau has a cousin who's acting strangely, like he's lost his soul."
"I'm going back to the capital later, and I'd like to ask you to come with me. If the problem isn't too difficult, I'll leave it to you to handle. What do you think?"
Lin Yanxin had just adjusted to the relaxed feeling of being back in the mortal world when she heard this, and immediately interrupted warily: "Then where are you going? Aren't you coming to see that person who lost their soul?"
Shen Yuepo raised her hand, which was naturally clasped with Feng Jin's, and waved it in front of Lin Yanxin, her tone light and frank, "Let's go take wedding photos."
Sure enough, the next second—
"The Soul of the Sinking Moon!!!"
Lin Yanxin's roar shook the withered leaves on the branches, causing them to fall in a rustling sound.
His eyes widened, his finger trembling as he pointed at Chen Yuepo, his face filled with disbelief and heartbroken betrayal:
"You...you're getting married?! Such a big thing, and you weren't the first to tell me?!"
"Am I still your senior brother?! Huh?! Am I still the pillar of Xujing Temple? Am I still your support since childhood?!"
Shen Yuepo had anticipated his reaction and calmly rubbed her ears, which were itchy from the shock.
She ignored Lin Yanxin's outburst and instead smiled at Zhang Qingyuan, who was also somewhat stunned by the news:
"Fellow Daoist Zhang, the wedding is set for New Year's Day, six days from now. If you are free then, you are welcome to come to Fengdu to witness the ceremony."
Zhang Qingyuan had just recovered from the news that "Fellow Daoist Shen is getting married" when he heard the words "attend the ceremony in Fengdu".
He jolted awake, his eyes widened instantly, and his expression was replaced by ecstasy.
