I walked alone on the bustling street, my mood as oppressive as the gloomy sky.
Suddenly, a familiar figure came into view—it was Jin Buwei!
My heart started racing instantly.
She unconsciously quickened her pace and walked towards him.
Without hesitation, she grabbed his arm and angrily demanded, "What are you doing here? Why are you treating me like this?"
However, he just looked at me coldly, a chilling smirk on his lips, without saying a word.
He turned around and resolutely strode away.
"No! No!" I cried out his name in despair, my voice so weak and powerless in the noisy street.
But he walked away without looking back, leaving me with only a cold and resolute silhouette.
Watching his figure gradually disappear into the crowd.
My heart ached as if it were being torn apart, and I felt completely lost and disoriented.
......
"No! No!" I was still calling his name in anguish, tears streaming down my face.
Just then, a warm, large hand gently patted my shoulder.
"Wake up! Were you having a nightmare?"
I slowly opened my heavy eyes, and my blurry vision gradually cleared as I saw Qin Shisheng beside me with a worried expression.
There were still traces of tears in the corners of my eyes.
The pain in my heart remains.
When Qin Shisheng saw that I was awake, he quickly reached out and gently wiped away the tears on my face.
His eyes were filled with tenderness.
He pulled me tightly into his arms.
She murmured softly, "My heart aches for you. If I hadn't argued with you that day, if I had held your hand tightly, perhaps you wouldn't be in so much pain now."
They remained silent and did not respond.
He gently kissed my earlobe.
"Can you love me even a little bit? Just a little bit!"
I slowly turned around, opened my arms, and hugged him tightly.
I gently rested my head against his broad chest, inhaling the minty tobacco scent emanating from him.
"Ah Sheng! I want to go back and see my brother and Xiao Hua tomorrow," I murmured softly.
He lowered his head slightly and gently kissed my forehead. "Okay! I'll arrange for Zhibai to take you back."
"Get some rest, my little fairy!"
I heard his even breathing beside me, and knew he had fallen asleep.
I closed my eyes and drifted off to sleep.
—
The next morning, sunlight streamed through the window into the room, creating dappled patterns of light and shadow.
Lin Zhibai was already waiting downstairs, where the Range Rover was parked, attracting considerable attention.
After meeting them,
I ran forward quickly and threw myself into their arms.
"Brother, Little Flower, I've missed you so much!"
I handed them the gifts I was holding.
Xiaohua accepted the gift, her face beaming with a happy smile: "Thank you, Sister Qianqian!"
Xiaohua asked with concern.
"Sister Qianqian, is Master Qin good to you?"
I forced a smile. "Brother, Little Flower, I'm doing great! Look, haven't I gained weight recently?"
However, a dull ache lingered deep within me.
My brother and Xiaohua did not respond with a smile when I answered.
"Qianqian, if you're unhappy, let's go abroad together! The world is vast, we can always escape him!" her brother said.
"I'm fine! You don't need to worry about me, I'll be fine!" I clearly had something to say.
Fearing they would ask questions again,
I quickly changed the subject, trying to break the slightly awkward atmosphere.
"Oh, let's not talk about those unhappy things! We finally get to see each other, and I've been craving my brother's cooking for so long!"
The older brother smiled slightly, turned around and went into the kitchen to start working.
Before long, one delicious dish after another was served on the table.
I savored the familiar flavors with great relish, chatting happily with my brother and Xiaohua.
Laughter and cheerful voices echoed throughout the room...
On the way back,
The night was as dark as ink, and the streetlights cast a dim yellow glow.
Lin Zhibai, who was sitting in the passenger seat, suddenly turned his head and looked at me, asking a question.
Are you still planning to run away from Brother Qin?
I nodded without hesitation.
He answered firmly, "Yes, I still yearn for a free life!"
"I can't just be his mistress for the rest of my life! Sister Ye's ending is clear, and it wasn't good! I don't want to gamble my whole life on a future I can't even see!"
Lin Zhibai frowned slightly after hearing what I said.
Then he turned back to look at the road ahead and asked:
"Have you decided when you're leaving?"
I took a deep breath and said, "Let's do it in a week, when he goes to the provincial capital for a meeting! I booked a train ticket using the identity of my former hospital colleague, Xu Fang. I want to go to the countryside abroad and live there for a while, so he won't be able to find me for a while!"
“Okay! Let me know if you need any help!” His voice was loud and firm, as if it could penetrate all difficulties and obstacles.
"Thank you, Zhibai!" I looked at him gratefully, a warm feeling welling up inside me.
A thought suddenly flashed into my mind.
"Three years ago, you were the person in the car, weren't you?" I stared into his eyes, trying to find the answer in his expression.
He slowly pulled the car over to the side of the road, then turned his head and our eyes met.
"I hope I didn't scare you!" he said with a hint of apology.
