Chapter 164 Worried about you

This heinous incident resulted in serious injuries to many innocent people, with the scene a bloodbath and a horrific sight.

Just as I was stunned by this terrible news, the department head's urgent shouts pulled me back to reality.

"New intern, come help!" Hearing the call, I rushed over without hesitation and quickly threw myself into the rescue work.

I was fully focused on assisting in the treatment of the injured. I just successfully helped an injured aunt stop the bleeding and properly treated her wound.

Before I could even catch my breath, a commotion suddenly broke out ahead.

Upon closer inspection, it turned out to be a group of burly bodyguards shouting loudly. Their aggressive demeanor drew the attention of the surrounding crowd.

The man at the very front of the group of burly men was particularly eye-catching; his thick arms were covered with colorful tattoos, making him look exactly like a street thug.

He yelled at the top of his lungs, "Where's the doctor? Come out now and give my young lady priority treatment!"

At this moment, an experienced middle-aged doctor stepped forward to examine the injuries of the so-called "lady".

Then, calmly, he replied, "She only suffered some minor external injuries. There are still many people whose lives are hanging by a thread and waiting for us to save them. Please be patient and wait in line!" With that, the middle-aged doctor turned to leave.

Unexpectedly, upon seeing this, the arrogant and domineering burly man suddenly raised his hand and slapped the middle-aged doctor hard across the face.

With a crisp sound, five bright red finger marks instantly appeared on the middle-aged doctor's cheek.

"If you don't give her priority treatment, and if anything happens to her, I guarantee you'll all be in big trouble!" the burly man threatened menacingly.

I quickly helped the swaying middle-aged female doctor.

Are you alright?

The middle-aged female doctor stared solemnly at the imposing burly man in front of her. There was no point in arguing with such an unreasonable person.

She silently lowered her head and said nothing more.

I turned around.

Facing the burly, imposing man before him.

"There are so many injured patients today, and all the medical staff are working against the clock! You actually attacked a doctor. If the doctor is injured, who will be able to treat your family?"

The bodyguard beside the burly man quickly stepped forward.

He gripped my arm tightly and cried out anxiously, "Come here! Please, please check on our young lady! She's been unconscious ever since she was injured, and we're all going crazy with worry!"

I took a deep breath and tried to stay calm.

"Let go of me first! I need to examine her injuries carefully before I can make an accurate assessment."

The burly man hesitated for a moment, then immediately released his grip.

I quickly walked over to the chair and looked closely. I found a little girl, about five years old, lying on it.

Her face was as pale as paper, and her whole body slumped there limply, as if she had lost all her strength.

I carefully reached out my hands, gently lifted her tightly closed eyes, and carefully observed the condition of her pupils.

The little girl looked up at me.

"Beautiful...sister..."

"Sweetie! Little beauty! Be strong!"

After examining her for a moment, I looked at the small wounds on her hand.

He couldn't help but frown.

"This doesn't seem to be caused by a common external injury..."

I turned to the burly man beside me and tentatively asked, "Does she have leukemia or something similar?"

The burly man nodded hurriedly and replied, "Yes, doctor! She's had an extremely low platelet count since she was a child; she was born with this strange disease. Please, you must save her!"

Hearing the burly man's reply, my heart tightened.

I shouted without hesitation.

"Get her to the emergency room immediately! There might still be time; we must begin emergency treatment right away!"

The medical staff who rushed over quickly stepped forward, gently lifted the pale-faced little girl with her eyes closed, and hurriedly ran towards the emergency room.

A burly man standing nearby witnessed this scene.

Their gaze was fixed on the name tag I was wearing on my chest.

After examining her carefully for a moment, he murmured, "Internal medicine intern, Yao Qianqian! Our boss will thank you!"

I quickly smiled and nodded gently at him. "Please don't act so impulsively next time!"

He then quickly turned around and devoted himself to the emergency rescue work for the other injured.

Time passed by second by second, and before we knew it, night had fallen.

I moved constantly between patients, my busy figure never stopping.

Around 9 p.m., I finally felt as if all my strength had been drained from my body. My legs went weak, and I slowly leaned against the chair next to me, panting heavily.

Just then, I inadvertently turned my head and noticed that the phone screen on the table was flashing incessantly.

Upon closer inspection, there were more than 40 missed calls, and without exception, all of them were made by the same person—Lin Zhibai.

My heart clenched instantly. Without thinking, I quickly picked up my phone and called back.

However, there was no answer on the other end of the phone. Once, twice... it wasn't until the third call that the other party finally answered.

Before I could even speak, his anxious voice came through the receiver: "Are you alright?"

I could clearly sense the worry in his words.

A warmth welled up in my heart, and I thought to myself that he must have learned about what happened here through the news, which is why he had been so worried about me.
