I stepped into Jin Buhuan's black sedan.
She gracefully got into the car.
Jin Buhuan then turned his head and stared intently at me.
"Qianqian, if you want to get revenge on Wang Yijin, just tell me. Don't risk your life. I'm worried you'll get hurt."
I know there are surveillance cameras in the room.
So I didn't intend to hide this for too long.
Just seeing Wang Yijin get beaten up is enough to calm my anger a little.
Just then,
Qin Shisheng walked over and quickly reached out to open the back door of the car.
He got into the car as if afraid of being left behind.
Seeing this, I exchanged a helpless glance with Qin Shisheng, then sighed and said, "Fine, fine, since that's the case, you two can sit in the back! I'll go sit in the front passenger seat."
I walked towards the passenger seat in front.
However, to my utter surprise,
Qin Shisheng completely ignored my arrangements.
"Let's sit in the back together..."
As a result, the originally spacious back seats instantly became crowded, and I was sandwiched between the two of them, feeling extremely awkward.
And so, the car drove through the bustling city center.
We drove towards the towering mountain peak in the suburbs.
After a long drive and a strenuous climb, we finally arrived at an ancient temple at the top of the mountain.
Qin Shisheng handed me the backpack he was carrying.
"Here are daily necessities, common medicines, and some delicious food. I prepared them especially for you!"
I will come to see you often!
I was slightly taken aback, then silently reached out and took the things, but did not respond to his words.
Jin Buhuan also came over, handed me the carefully prepared package, and gently instructed, "If you need anything else, you can call me! This is what I prepared for you!"
I nodded slightly.
He took the backpack, turned around, and walked into the temple...
When Yao Nan saw me walking slowly towards her, a surprised smile instantly bloomed on her face, and her bright eyes seemed to sparkle with starlight.
"Qianqian!" he called out my name excitedly.
Then, his gaze passed over me and landed on Qin Shisheng and Jin Buhuan, who were standing quietly at the door.
After a brief moment of surprise, he asked hesitantly, "Mr. Jin...?"
I was too lazy to bother explaining the complicated relationship, so I just casually replied, "Not for my brother!"
Yao Nan seemed to understand something and nodded slightly.
Then, she shifted her gaze to the two backpacks behind me.
"Did they send all of these over specially?"
"With so much stuff, are you planning to stay here long-term?" Yao Nan asked curiously.
I nodded slightly and answered affirmatively, "Yes! I plan to stay here for a while."
Yao Nan readily agreed, "Okay! I'll go and prepare a comfortable room for you right now."
He then turned around and quickly went inside to get busy.
On the other side,
Qin Shisheng and Jin Buhuan sat quietly in the temple courtyard until the sky gradually darkened and night was about to fall.
They looked up and silently gazed at me, their eyes filled with indescribable emotions.
Finally, the two slowly stood up and walked down the mountain, their figures gradually disappearing into the vast twilight.
...
A new day,
I knelt devoutly before the solemn Buddha statue, clasped my hands together, closed my eyes, and silently prayed for a peaceful and healthy life for the rest of my days, especially for my troublesome romantic relationships, hoping that no more unwanted suitors would disturb my life.
I gently extended my right hand and took a bamboo skewer from the bamboo tube beside me.
It made me feel both uneasy and full of anticipation.
Clutching this bamboo stick whose fate was unknown,
I slowly got up and walked with somewhat heavy steps toward the abbot who was sitting not far away.
The abbot's face was kind and calm as he quietly waited for me to hand him the bamboo stick.
When I respectfully placed the bamboo sticks in front of the abbot,
He examined the fortune stick carefully.
A moment later, a slight smile appeared on his lips, and he said softly, "This is an extremely auspicious sign."
My previously anxious heart relaxed a little.
The abbot gazed at me gently, a slight smile on his face. "May I ask, young lady, are you inquiring about marriage?"
I nodded and replied, "Indeed, destiny! I really want to know, who will ultimately be the one I spend the rest of my life with?"
The abbot smiled slightly, but did not answer my question directly. Instead, he sighed softly and began to tell a story about my past life.
“Girl, in your past life you were a fox spirit who cultivated to become a deity. In your previous life, you always had a kind heart and mostly did good deeds. There were three experiences that deeply influenced your path to marriage in this life.”
"First, you met a scholar named Qin. At that time, this scholar was destitute and did not even have the travel expenses to go to the capital for the imperial examination."
Kind-hearted as you were, you not only generously helped him but also escorted him all the way to the capital. However, when he passed the imperial examination with flying colors and achieved great success, you were overcome with worldly desires and wanted to become his wife.
But he politely declined your deep affection, citing the incompatibility between humans and demons. Heartbroken, you acted impulsively and accidentally killed his pregnant wife. Thus, you now owe him a child.
