Chapter 6 Painful Memories

After washing up, I went straight to my cozy little bed, but even after entering the bedroom, I still couldn't calm down.

My gaze finally fell on the photo on the bedside table. In the photo, the four of us were all smiling brightly, radiating happiness.

However, all of that is now in the past.

Looking at the photos, I fell into deep thought, recalling our family of four.

My mother is a renowned beauty, with a face that looks remarkably like the most beautiful Miss Hong Kong! She is also a teacher of folk dance and classical dance!

She is incredibly beautiful and has an elegant demeanor. Everyone who meets her says it's such a pity she's not a big star!

My mother had countless suitors, but she politely declined them all for my father's sake.

She and her father had a deep bond since childhood, growing up together as childhood sweethearts. They loved, understood, and relied on each other. Her mother cherished this relationship. They went through countless ups and downs together, always supporting each other.

However, fate took a turn one day.

That day, Mom accidentally discovered Dad's affair and saw him passionately embracing his mistress and swaying in the car.

Her trust crumbled instantly, and in a fit of anger, her mother filed for divorce, but her father vehemently refused.

But his mother had lost all hope in him and no longer held any expectation.

When her father tried to win her back, her mother coldly replied, "My youthful infatuation was just me being blind! Let's save some face for each other and sign the papers!"

Even after the divorce, she suffered immense pain and harbored deep resentment towards her father.

I can't understand why such deep affection in youth is so fragile. After so many years of weathering storms together, it couldn't withstand the love of a younger woman.

After all, the other woman wasn't pretty; she was just younger.

After my parents divorced,

I often hear my mother sobbing in her room when I'm sleeping at night.

With tears streaming down her face, she cried out, "Faithless men deserve to die!"

I know that she has always hated her father, and this hatred has been tormenting her.

"Mom, did you have a nightmare?" I gently patted her shoulder, trying to comfort her.

Tears welled up in her eyes, and her voice trembled as she said, "Qianqian, Mom is so worried about you... You are a very beautiful girl. What if you meet a scumbag like your father in the future?"

I hugged my mother tightly, feeling a pang of heartache, and whispered to comfort her, "Mom, don't worry, I'll protect myself and won't easily fall into the whirlpool of emotions. I will always prioritize loving myself!"

After listening to me, Mom gradually calmed down, slowly lay back down on the bed, and closed her eyes.

I gently covered her with the blanket and watched her drift off to sleep again.

However, after several years of this mental torment, the mother suddenly fell ill.

She lay in her hospital bed, enduring the pain, and looked at my brother and me with a relieved smile.

"My children are wonderful; the boy is exceptionally handsome, and the girl is as beautiful as an angel!"

"Mom, we all inherited your beauty!" Yao Nan, the older brother, held his mother's hand tightly, his voice full of tenderness.

The mother smiled slightly, her eyes full of love for her children, but her face was unusually pale, as if the flame of her life was gradually going out.

The mother weakly instructed her brother, "Yao Nan, you must take good care of your sister! Don't let her run into a scumbag!"

My brother and I were in tears, nodding frantically in agreement. Our hearts were filled with endless sorrow and reluctance.

Then, Mom gently touched my brother's face, glanced at me, waved goodbye, and slowly closed her eyes before leaving.

The father rushed over and hugged the mother, crying his heart out.

However, in my brother's and my eyes, his deep affection came too late and could never make up for the mistakes he had made.

I couldn't help but think that my parents, who once loved each other so much, ultimately couldn't withstand the intervention of a third party.

The day my mother left was exceptionally cold, with howling winds and torrential rain.

It was as if even God felt indignant about what my mother had gone through.

It's a pity that this deeply affectionate person was ultimately betrayed.

We stood before Mom's gravestone, while Dad continued to weep and apologize. He cried for a long, long time in the rain... and his trembling, weeping figure was so heartbreaking...

I stared at the scene before me, tears welling in my eyes, and I couldn't help but cry, unable to believe that my mother had left us like this...

After my mother passed away, my father was always alone and became less talkative. Every year we would visit him. His hair had gradually turned gray at the temples, and his room was filled with photos of my mother and us.

He once said, "People can't make mistakes! Otherwise, they will miss out on the people they love." He himself was also living in pain and struggling.

But belated affection is worth less than grass...

A few years later, he left my brother and me a sum of money, and then passed away along with my mother.

My brother and I were left to depend on each other! My brother was depressed for a while because of this, and often frequented places like bars. Later, after my persuasion, he returned to normal and opened his own restaurant.

Because of my mother's instructions, I have never dared to date or easily trust the opposite sex for many years, for fear of encountering a scumbag and becoming physically and mentally exhausted.

After all, the image of my mother in pain after her divorce left a deep shadow on my heart.

A new day begins. Back at the hospital, I was relieved to hear that the important person had been discharged.

We are from two different worlds, so it's best for us to become complete strangers!

I started my busy work...

After a busy day, I return home and put on some beautiful folk music.

Dance and spin to the music.

I went to wash up and changed into my nightgown.
