Chapter 81 Chase 2~

When I opened my eyes, I saw Lin Zhibai. He stretched out his fair hand and was grabbing the neck of the man who was about to slap me, pressing him hard against the wall.

He roared, his entire demeanor icy cold. "Who sent you?"

The man in black was being choked by Lin Zhibai until he couldn't breathe or make a sound. His face turned bluish-purple, showing how much force Lin Zhibai was using.

"You're not going to tell me?"

He quickly pulled a small knife from his pocket.

He turned and glanced at me. "Close your eyes!"

I closed my eyes, but I couldn't help but take another look.

Without the slightest hesitation, Lin Zhibai stabbed him in the chest again and again.

White knife, red knife—it comes out!

In an instant, the man's painful scream shattered the silence of the alley.

The snow was stained red with blood.

"Will you tell me or not?"

"Ugh... Oh..." The man trembled all over in pain.

Lin Zhibai raised his foot and kicked him hard in the face.

He was kicked so hard that he screamed in agony, blood streaming from the corner of his mouth.

He turned to look at me. "Are you hurt?"

"No," I replied, thinking that if I said yes, he would act as if he could kill me.

"You all remember this well: none of you are to lay a finger on this woman!" His tone was icy cold, yet it contained an irresistible authority that sent chills down one's spine.

Just then, a group of dark figures rushed out from behind, and at a glance, there were more than twenty people.

These people were dressed in uniform black clothing, each one agile and menacing...

Leading the charge was Xu Wei, whose steady and powerful steps quickly brought him to Lin Zhibai.

"Brother Lin!"

Xu Wei called out respectfully, bowing slightly in greeting.

"Arrest every single one of these guys! Then interrogate them thoroughly and make sure they reveal who's behind this!"

Lin Zhibai's eyes were cold, and even his tone of voice carried an undisguised ruthlessness.

Xu Wei quickly nodded respectfully and replied, "Yes, Brother Lin! Don't worry, I guarantee I'll complete the mission!"

After saying that, he waved to his subordinates behind him, who immediately understood and captured the people who had fallen to the ground.

If anyone dared to resist, they would be met with a merciless beating from Xu Wei and his gang.

Their screams echoed through the alley...

Xu Wei and his group showed no mercy, continuing to treat the rebels roughly. In the end, they dragged them all into the car and drove them away like dead pigs.

After dealing with these matters, Xu Wei turned around, his gaze falling on Lin Zhibai, and asked with concern, "Brother Lin! Do you think I should take you to the hospital to treat your wound?"

Following Xu Wei's gaze, one could see that Lin Zhibai's arms and thighs indeed had several wounds bleeding, which looked shocking.

Lin Zhibai shook his head expressionlessly, his tone still icy as he said, "Don't worry about me, this little injury is nothing. Take them back and interrogate them thoroughly, don't let any clue slip by!"

Hearing Lin Zhibai say this, Xu Wei dared not say anything more, but simply nodded respectfully again.

Then he turned to look at me standing to the side, smiled and nodded at me.

Then, without hesitation, he turned around and led his men away in a car.

After Xu Wei and the others left, Lin Zhibai slowly turned around. His previously cold and ruthless eyes instantly softened with concern as he softly asked, "Did I scare you just now?"

"It's nothing. What are you doing here?"

He said coldly, "Brother Qin has always told me to follow you! To protect you! And also because he's afraid you'll run away."

Anyway, thank you!

I thanked them, but in my mind I was wondering who was trying to attack me.

As I was thinking, Lin Zhibai suddenly reached out his long and strong hand, grabbed my wrist tightly, and pulled me forward with him.

And so, he led me to a quiet corner of a secluded alley.

He suddenly pinned me against the wall.

At that moment, we were so close that we could almost feel each other's breath. He leaned down and whispered in my ear, our eyes met, and we felt a breath of fresh air between us.

I abruptly turned my head, looking at him with a face full of confusion and bewilderment.

My heart was filled with astonishment.

Before I could even ask what had happened, his cold and serious voice rang out first: "What is your relationship with Jin Buwei?"

Faced with his sudden question, I was somewhat at a loss for words and stammered, "Why...why do you ask that?"

His gaze was as sharp as a cold star, fixed on me, and he continued to press, "I saw with my own eyes his assistant pass you a note, and last time Jin Buwei helped you rescue your trapped brother, right?"

Hearing this, my heart sank.

He tried to appear calm. "No...no."

He pressed on, questioning, "Are you a woman Jin Buwei specifically sent to get close to Brother Qin?"

I hurriedly shook my head, explaining firmly, "No! Absolutely not!"

Lin Zhibai's tone revealed a hint of urgency: "You'd better tell me the truth. If you do, I can help you! But if Brother Qin finds out about this, not only you, but your brother won't be able to live either!"

I could clearly see the worry he had for me in his eyes.

"It's really not, I swear! I wasn't sent by Jin Buwei, and it wasn't that I wanted to get close to him, he forced me..." My voice trembled slightly, and it grew softer and softer as I spoke.
