Chapter 38: Lying to Children

Chapter 38: Lying to Children

Gu Xiaoman suddenly looked up, her eyes slightly red, and she tightly protected the doll in her arms. She said with a rare firmness: "This is mine! Mine!"

"Don't grab!"

The group of children rushed up angrily and forcibly pried her protective arms apart.

"pain!"

Even Shen Tingyu's hand was pulled hard, and she felt a sharp pain in her arm, as if it was about to break.

Shen Tingyu’s face darkened, and anger surged in his heart.

These little brats were so strong that they hurt her and she couldn't pretend anymore.

She dared to ride on Da Que'er and run out of the palace alone, traveling thousands of miles to look for the figures of the great and small doctors. Of course, she had made sufficient preparations.

Each of her arms contained a short silver needle, about half the length of a wall, of just the right size, and covered with liquid medicine, which was extremely effective.

These two silver needles have two different effects. One is soaked in poison and the other is soaked in drugs. They can be fatal or cause coma.

She quietly raised the arm that could cause people to become unconscious, and the silver needle hidden in it pierced out and retracted quickly, accurately and fiercely.

The child cried out in pain and collapsed to the ground.

"You jinx, you actually dare to fight back!"

The group of kids became even angrier and started punching and kicking her, bullying her even more fiercely. Shen Tingyu couldn't withstand the punches and kicks coming from all directions with just one needle.

These little brats completely pissed off Shen Tingyu.

Seeing the little girl biting her pale lower lip but still holding her in her arms, Shen Tingyu's soft heart was touched, and she couldn't bear to see her being bullied.

Chirp!

The quiet big bird nearby tilted its head, let out a short scream, flapped its wings, and swooped down, constantly disturbing the group of children.

"Where did this sparrow come from? Go away!"

"A nasty sparrow."

"Be careful not to get pecked in the eye."

“…”

Before the silver needle was even half ejected, the bird and the puppet attacked the group of children one by one at the same time, clearing a gap in the encirclement.

Shen Tingyu spoke softly in the little girl's ear, her voice as vague as mist and like the sound of an angel.

"Be brave, push the weakest child down, and break out of the encirclement."

"Don't be afraid, just keep going forward, I'll protect you!"

Hearing the mysterious voice, Gu Xiaoman's face, which was suppressing the pain, showed a hint of surprise. She opened her mouth blankly, stood up suddenly and obediently, lowered her head and gritted her teeth, and rushed towards the boy who was missing a front tooth.

He was knocked flying.

The boy, whose stomach was hit by her head, screamed and fell to the ground, and Shen Tingyu retracted half of the silver needle.

Gu Xiaoman didn't dare to stop for a moment. She looked back in disbelief at the boy lying on the ground wailing, and engraved his painful face in her mind.

She pushed him over! It turned out that his strength was so weak, not even half as strong as hers!

Shen Tingyu encouraged her in time: “You did a good job, that’s it, don’t stop, run!”

A bright smile appeared on the corner of Gu Xiaoman's purple mouth. She hugged the rag doll tightly in her arms, as if she was holding an unprecedented treasure. She held it carefully and tightly, not wanting to let go.

She took brisk steps and ran towards home with her head raised.

Not long after Gu Xiaoman left, a young and beautiful woman passed by this secluded path carrying a basket of vegetables. She looked at the children lying on the ground in surprise and helped them up one by one.

A single sugar cube revealed everything that happened in the alley.

Gu Xiaoman returned to her room, swept her bed, and then carefully put down the doll in her arms, her clear eyes full of anticipation.

She asked expectantly, with a twinkle in her eyes: "Were you the one who was talking just now?"

Since she dared to talk to her, Shen Tingyu didn't want to hide it from her. She stood up from the bed, coughed lightly, and said slowly: "You heard it right, it's me."

She was about to bring out her words to deceive the tyrant and repeat them, but before she could say anything.

Gu Xiaoman has already started to answer: "You must be an immortal, right!"

Shen Tingyu paused for a moment. She didn't feel the slightest bit guilty about deceiving the child. She nodded silently, her eyes full of admiration as if to say, he's really smart, she doesn't even need to start making amends.

She asked, "Aren't you afraid to see me?"

Gu Xiaoman squatted down, looked straight at her, and smiled sweetly: "You saved me from the bad kid, you must be a good fairy."

That sweet smile almost melted her heart, Shen Tingyu held her heart, what a well-behaved child, but she was too well-behaved.

"Next time, if those kids dare to bully you again, fight them if you can, but run away if you can't, just like today. Don't let them bully you anymore."

"Got it?"

Gu Xiaoman nodded obediently, with a serious face: "Thank you, fairy, for saving me."

"My name is Gu Xiaoman. Because I was born in the twelfth month, my father named me Xiaoman. You can call me Xiaoman."

The smile on her face pulled the corners of her mouth, and she covered her mouth with her hands and hissed in pain.

Shen Tingyu asked with concern: “How is your injury, are you okay?”

The big bird flapped its wings and landed outside the window, not too far away, staring at them silently with its small, black eyes as big as beans.

"It was all thanks to this little sparrow."

She remembered that the sparrow had helped her just now. Gu Xiaoman asked, "Is this sparrow following the fairy? Is it protecting you?"

Shen Tingyu nodded.

Gu Xiaoman felt a little ashamed. She lowered her head again, her fingers silently stirring the corner of her clothes, and said with some self-blame: "You saved me, and I actually still thought..."

Shen Tingyu waved her hand nonchalantly: "No fight, no acquaintance. If it weren't for that cage, we wouldn't have met at all. It's all fate." She might have to look for a long time before she can find her, and use her clue to find the big and small miracle doctors.

She asked casually, "You are so young, do you live alone?"

Gu Xiaoman's eyes were somewhat indifferent, and he said worriedly: "My father went to the mountains to hunt and hasn't come home yet. My mother..., I live with my father."

Only then did she notice that Shen Tingyu's exquisite Liuxian skirt was torn, and the rags were dragging behind her like a long tail.

That was the most beautiful dress Gu Xiaoman had ever seen since she was born! It must have been very expensive, and yet it was torn like this.

Her fingers touched the group of shredded clothes, tears welled up in her watery eyes, and she said with immense self-blame, "Fairy, your clothes have been torn to shreds by them."

Shen Tingyu was confused by her unexpected tears, and said helplessly: "It's just a piece of clothing, it's okay, don't cry!"

She hated to see well-behaved children crying.

Seeing that she was still crying, her little face was all red from tears, and she looked extremely sad, Shen Tingyu had to start lying to the child in order to coax her.

She promised: "If you don't cry, I will tell you a secret."

Having been distracted by her, Gu Xiaoman stopped sobbing and asked curiously, "What secret?"
