The planned photography exchange was canceled the following evening. Wu Xinfei was alone in her office, making phone calls. Xiao Mi had endured Li Jia's stormy onslaught the previous night and was still aching all over when she finally returned to her apartment at 8 p.m.
After passing the message to Li Jia, he was too exhausted to think about anything else and fell asleep with his laptop in his arms.
Li Jia had arranged to meet Cang Lang. Since there were no events at the Qian Shi Club, they decided to get things done. The two of them drove a black Buick that Cang Lang had somehow gotten his hands on, and arrived at the entrance of the Qian Shi Club at 11 p.m. They parked the car in front of the gate and got out to walk to the club's entrance.
The door to the entrance was locked from the inside. The club's exterior wall was covered with gray mushroom-shaped stones, and the uneven stone surface created a shortcut for Li Jia. After exchanging glances with Cang Lang, Li Jia reached out and grabbed the protruding stone surface. Under the cover of night, he disappeared into the club's exterior wall in a few seconds, leaving only an open window on the second floor.
Canglang looked down and then climbed up as well. Although he wasn't as fast as Li Jia, he quickly slipped through the unlocked window that Xiao Mi had left for Li Jia. He stepped into the club, gently closed the window, and saw a door that Li Jia had kicked down. He quickly walked into the room.
Looking at the fallen door on the ground, there was a shiny sign with four big characters: "Art Director!" Li Jia was already sitting in front of a thin man, who was undoubtedly Wu Xinfei, Li Jia's target for today.
"Mr. Li, what are you doing?" Wu Xinfei was greatly surprised to see Li Jia. He had just finished making a call to recall his secretary, who was supposed to arrive in half an hour, but Li Jia had burst in, followed by a burly man. Clearly, trouble was about to befall him.
"Director Wu, I'm afraid you're in for a rough time today." After saying that, Li Jia slowly found the miniature listening device she had left behind under the secretary's desk, and then waved it in front of Wu Xinfei.
"You! Tell me! How much money do you want?" Wu Xinfei saw the bug and obviously thought Li Jia was going to blackmail him with some things she had overheard. He immediately felt relieved and looked at Li Jia with a hint of arrogance and disdain.
"Heh, money? Is your life even worth anything?" Li Jia ignored Wu Xinfei's expression, stood up, and smiled faintly. She stared into Wu Xinfei's eyes and spoke slowly, word by word.
"You! What exactly do you want?" Wu Xinfei felt a little uneasy under Li Jia's gaze. A sense of unease rose in his heart again. "It seems that this man didn't come here to blackmail me today. If not, then why?" Just as Wu Xinfei was rapidly thinking about Li Jia's true intentions, Li Jia's words made him break out in a cold sweat.
“Kidnapping, assassination, Mr. Wu, you really know how to spend money!” Li Jia said, watching Wu Xinfei’s reaction. When he saw Wu Xinfei’s face turn deathly pale, the question mark in his heart immediately got the answer. He stood up and suddenly grabbed the crystal monitor on Wu Xinfei’s table and slapped it on the head of the trembling Wu Xinfei.
The 19-inch LCD monitor slammed into Wu Xinfei's head, making him throb like a fly swatted by a fly swatter. He crashed under the table with a thud. Li Jia reached out and pulled him out, then shoved him into the chair behind the desk, casually setting the monitor aside. "Keep it short, just tell them what happened. I'll spare your life."
Canglang stood there the entire time, staring fiercely at Wu Xinfei. Li Jia's actions had no effect on Canglang's expression; it remained stiff and devoid of any emotion.
"What...what are you saying...I don't understand a word." Wu Xinfei rubbed her forehead, which had been smashed by the monitor, and pretended to be deaf and dumb, making excuses.
"You don't understand, right?" Li Jia finished speaking and laughed as she picked up the already damaged crystal monitor again. Suddenly, she grabbed Wu Xinfei's collar, forcefully pulling him up from behind the table. Then, she lifted him into the air and slapped the crystal monitor in her right hand hard across Wu Xinfei's face. "Don't understand?"
In a short while, the monitor in Li Jia's hand was stained red with blood, and Wu Xinfei's face was swollen like a pig's head. Blood gushing from his mouth had stained his shirt red, and before Li Jia could knock out his teeth, he finally couldn't hold on any longer and nodded in begging for mercy.
"Keep it short, I'm in a hurry." Li Jia casually tossed Wu Xinfei back onto the chair, grabbed some tissues and paper from the side, and pressed them against Wu Xinfei's face. "Clean her up, so I don't have to look at her like that."
"Um...okay...I'll talk...I'll talk...I had someone kidnap my wife, and she transferred her inheritance to me..." Li Jia smiled and nodded as Wu Xinfei finished speaking. Then she turned off the recording on her phone, stood up, stared at Wu Xinfei, and walked towards the door with the bloodstained monitor in her hand. Just as Wu Xinfei was rejoicing that he had escaped death, Li Feng suddenly turned around and swung the monitor in his hand, smashing it towards Wu Xinfei's neck!
The distance of five or six meters passed in the blink of an eye. Wu Xinfei instinctively reached out to cover his head, which saved his life. The rapidly spinning monitor spun and struck Wu Xinfei's arms. With a heart-wrenching sound of bones cracking, Wu Xinfei fainted before he could even scream. The crystal monitor, having fulfilled its purpose, was scattered all over the ground.
