Chapter 135 Big Trouble

Li Xiaotong's school has officially started military training, and Li Feng is also preparing to return to City B. The new semester of middle school is about to begin. Tonight is the time for Li Jia to return to City B. Before Li Feng boards the plane, an unfamiliar number calls Li Jia. "Have a safe trip!" Just four short words, but they contain all of Meng Yao's feelings.

After saving Meng Yao's phone number, Li Jia walked into the security checkpoint. When the plane landed in City B, Li Jia turned on her phone, and a series of text message notifications immediately came out. She quickly walked out of the airport hall, hailed a taxi, gave her destination, and then looked at the messages on her phone one by one.

"Where are you?"

"Call back when you see the text message..."

All the text messages like these were from Jiang Ling. After reading them all, Jiang Ling still didn't understand what Jiang Ling wanted, so she simply dialed the number. "What's up?" The call was answered instantly, and Li Jia's calm voice reached Jiang Ling'er's ears: "Let's talk when we meet. I'm at home. Come over now."

"Okay!" After hanging up the phone, Li Jia told the taxi driver where she wanted to go, and then sat in the car patiently waiting for her destination. It was well past rush hour in B City, so the traffic was good. Soon, Li Jia appeared in front of Jiang Ling'er's house. "Knock...knock...knock," Li Jia gently knocked on the door.

"Where did you go?" Jiang Ling's slightly reproachful tone made Li Feng smile slightly. "I went to take Xiaotong to school. You didn't know that, did you?"

Jiang Ling naturally knew that Li Jia had gone to take Li Xiaotong to school, but it would be strange if something else happened for three or four days. She happened to have some problems and wanted to find someone to give her advice, but she couldn't find anyone else. When she called Li Jia, her phone was off and only turned on two hours later. It's normal for Jiang Ling to have some thoughts.

"What's the matter that's so urgent? Tell me. Let's see if I can help you." Li Feng sat on Jiang Ling'er's sofa, stretched comfortably, and then said to Jiang Ling'er.

"Here's what happened..." Jiang Ling didn't continue the topic. She sat down next to Li Jia and recounted the whole story, then stared at Li Jia uncertainly and asked, "Do you think this is true? Will Grandpa be in trouble?"

The story goes like this: Jiang Ling's grandfather, Jiang Baisong, is the president of Songbai Grass Industry Group, one of China's leading grass industry groups, with a close cooperative relationship with the National Environmental Protection Association. He returned to China from a recuperation trip in Canada because of problems at an alfalfa pasture project in Inner Mongolia. The new alfalfa powder processing technology, developed over three years, had just been successfully completed and hadn't even had time to apply for a patent when it was suddenly destroyed. Furthermore, all company backups were deleted, meaning that three years of hard work vanished completely in an instant.

This result directly caused serious damage to the company's economic interests in the plant feed market. Upon receiving this news, Jiang Songbai hurriedly returned to China from his vacation to deal with the negative impact of this matter.

The reasons why the new technology hadn't been investigated and why it hadn't been found out suddenly made Jiang Songbai realize that there must be someone inside the forage technology research and development team. After some days of investigation, he finally discovered some problems. Just as he was about to expose the insider, he received a threatening phone call from a stranger. The caller told him that he possessed confidential technical information from some of the world's top forage companies, including Songbai Forage Industry's new alfalfa powder processing technology. He said he would resell this technical information to others if necessary.

Finally, under the man's threat, Jiang Songbai temporarily compromised and reached a preliminary agreement with him to buy back the technology. To demonstrate his strength and credibility, the man mailed Jiang Songbai a black metal card with only a simple mole logo on it.

"A mole!" The symbol of a commercial espionage organization immediately popped into Li Jia's mind. She grabbed a piece of paper from the side, picked up a pen, and sketched a mole symbol on it with a few strokes. "Is this it?"

Jiang Ling shook her head. "I don't know either. Grandpa didn't tell me. It's already good enough that he told me this much, but I did overhear that the mole seems to be a symbol of a corporate spy. I don't know much else, but I still want to know, are these people dangerous to Grandpa? And is that rat organization really that powerful?"

After Jiang Ling finished speaking, she looked at Li Jia. Since Li Jia had returned from abroad, she instinctively felt that Li Jia could be of some help. After all, people who have returned from abroad are more likely to encounter things that are difficult to come into contact with normally than they are in China.

“I can’t be sure if it’s this Mole, but there is indeed a commercial espionage organization in the US called Mole. Their network of commercial espionage agents spans the globe. They get involved in almost every new product or technology, good or bad. So, the high-tech they possess is arguably the most comprehensive in the world. If you’re willing to spend the money, they might even be able to get you the top-of-the-line weapons and equipment used by the US president’s bodyguards.” Li said to Jiang Ling with a smile, his mind conjuring up a spherical figure who always had an unlit cigar in his hand.

"Is it true? Is he really that capable?" Although Jiang Ling is a police officer, she has never had the opportunity to handle a case of commercial espionage. Her knowledge of commercial espionage is limited to what she reads in books. Besides, cases of commercial espionage are generally not something a lowly criminal investigator would handle.
