Jiang Songbai seemed like a different person after returning from Inner Mongolia. He was much more energetic. After a short rest, Songbai Grass Industry's R&D department and key technology breakthrough center were re-established, while the previously arrogant mole disappeared without a trace.
Half a month later, Jiang Songbai was attacked by unidentified people on his way back to the villa from the company. The two bodyguards left behind by the old man known as Ou killed the two men and revealed their identities to Jiang Songbai. They were special forces soldiers from Zhonghai, temporarily under the jurisdiction of the Sixth Division of the National Security Bureau, responsible for protecting some dignitaries and leaders, and they carried red identification cards that were known to the world as a license to kill.
Jiang Ling immediately informed Li Jia about the incident. Li Jia, who was in class at the time, rushed to Jiang Songbai's villa. After the attack, Xiao San and Xiao Liu could no longer stay there and had to leave. However, the sniper who had been guarding Jiang Songbai's villa did not leave but remained there quietly, like a patient hunter.
"Uncle Jiang, as Ling's friend, I have to tell you clearly that the hyenas have started to move. Therefore, you'd better hire more bodyguards. In City B, the best bodyguard company right now is Golden Shield. I hope you'll consider it. One person's strength can never compete with a group of people." Li Jia's words carried much more weight this time, and Jiang Songtao naturally believed them without question. "Heh, it seems I should have listened to you back then; this wouldn't have happened. So, do you have any other good suggestions?" Jiang Songbai's face showed his exhaustion. The company was slowly recovering, but he himself was facing a life-threatening situation. A hyena, enraged, was launching a relentless attack on him.
Li Jia glanced at Jiang Songbai, and just as she was about to speak, the phone on the table rang. Jiang Songbai looked at the number and answered the phone, "Oh, what's up?"
"Is there a young man named Li Jia with you?" The voice on the phone didn't answer Jiang Songbai, but instead asked loudly, "Yes, what's wrong?"
"Give him the phone. I have something to say to him." The loud voice on the phone reminded Li Jia of someone—an old man she had unintentionally saved a long time ago. With a slight doubt, she took the phone from Jiang Songbai. "Hello, this is Li Jia."
"Hey kid, how have you been lately?" The voice on the phone wasn't as loud this time, but rather kind. Hearing the voice, Li Jia immediately recognized him. "Hehe. Uncle Ou. It's been a long time. How's Auntie's health?"
Upon hearing Li Jia's address, Jiang Songbai's eyes widened like light bulbs, and his mouth gaped open, almost big enough to fit an egg. "This kid actually knows Old Stone, and they seem to be quite close! Could he be that…?" Jiang Songbai's guess was not wrong. Several years ago, when Li Jia was still living in the United States, he unintentionally saved an elderly Chinese woman during a mission. The old woman's husband was none other than the old man speaking to Li Jia now, Ou Boshi. A mysterious old man.
"Kid, I didn't expect you to have some connection with Old Wood's granddaughter. That makes things much easier. I'll leave this to you. Any questions?" Ou Baishi said casually on the other end of the phone. He had spent nearly a year investigating Li Jia's identity, so he had no worries about letting her handle this. However, Li Jia had a difficult situation to explain: "Uncle, this is China. You don't expect me to go on a killing spree here, do you?"
"Hehe, I knew you'd say that. You must be here by now. You're temporarily requisitioned, just like Xiao Liu and the others. You'll be in charge of those two for now. Get this sorted out in half a month. I'll take care of things at school. That's all. You can give the phone to Old Man Jiang now." Ou Boshi didn't give Li Jia a chance to speak. Li Jia knew the old man's temper well, so she naturally handed the phone to Jiang Songbai, who was still in a daze, with a wry smile.
"Old Stone, what's going on?" Jiang Songbai asked impatiently as soon as he answered the phone.
"Old Wood, you're lucky. With that kid around, you can rest assured. I've handed things over to him. Remember my words, follow his arrangements. This matter will be resolved in less than half a month." Ou Boshi laughed heartily and hung up the phone. At this moment, Xiao Liu and Xiao San reappeared outside the villa. As soon as they entered, they went to Li Jia, took out a bulging leather bag, and said, "Brother Jia, you've asked us to report to you!"
"Hehe, no need to be so reserved, relax. By the way, tell the brothers upstairs around here that they don't need to be so tense, they can come down and rest for a bit. We'll go out for a good meal tonight." Hearing Li Jia's words, Xiao Liu's initially resentful expression immediately softened. Those snipers were secretly arranged by the leader; no one else knew except him and the leader. Li Jia, however, clearly knew about the snipers around long ago. "So if this person is my enemy, the consequences are unimaginable."
"Yes, Brother Jia!" After Xiao San finished speaking, he turned around and gestured to Xiao Liu. Xiao Liu nodded, turned around and left the villa. Only then did Xiao San come up to him and ask, "Brother Jia, I heard that you once saved the eldest brother's wife. Is that true?"
"Hehe, that was a long time ago. Alright, Uncle Jiang, Ling will be with you soon, and Mr. Jiang Chuan and his wife will also be staying at the villa. Try to go out as little as possible. I will resolve things as soon as possible." After Li Jia finished speaking, she turned and left the villa, and sat down with Xiao San and the others at a small restaurant not far from the villa to eat.
