Through the gaps in the bushes, Xiaolong seemed to spot Instructor Riley's figure. Immediately, Xiaolong adjusted his sniper scope and clearly saw what was happening there.
Riley's massive body suddenly leaped from the bushes, his combat knife slashing across an assassin who was cautiously searching there. The instant the knife sliced open the man's throat, a streak of bright red blood shot clearly through the sniper scope. After the assassin's body fell, Riley's enormous figure quickly disappeared into the bushes.
"Li Jia, what happened? Why did Instructor Riley eliminate those people for us? What did you say to Instructor Riley?" Xiao Long, full of confusion, couldn't help but ask.
"He didn't say anything. We have a very good master-disciple relationship. I told him that I would treat him to dinner after he finished dealing with those people for me, so he went!" Li Jia's explanation left Xiao Long speechless for a moment. Of course, he was speechless because he was angry at Li Jia's nonchalant tone.
"Alright, you'll find out soon enough. Get ready, we'll head down the mountain after dark. I'll go get some game now. With Riley and Drunkard's help, we should be safe. Why not take this opportunity for a picnic?" Li Jia's words baffled Xiao Long. He thought, "What kind of time is this? A picnic? What if some daredevil comes up and hurts Miss?"
“Okay! I agree. There are plenty of pheasants in these mountains. Big brother, go and get a few. Let’s meet up over there in the pile of rocks surrounded by beech trees.” Before Xiaolong could even voice his objection, Xiaoyue’s voice came through the communicator. As soon as she said that, Xiaolong’s objection was completely rendered useless. So, he simply stopped talking and, looking sullen, began to disassemble his beloved gun.
“Meet me there in fifteen minutes.” After saying that, Li Jia turned off the communicator, then took her bow and arrow and walked out of the woods, heading towards a ravine in the mountains.
Two hours later, Li Jia and the other two were satisfied as they extinguished the fire on the pile of stones. The two pheasants had been completely devoured by the three of them. "Hmm, this pheasant tasted good!" Li Jia said with satisfaction as he tossed away the last chicken leg he had finished eating.
"Big brother, when are we going down the mountain?" Xiaoyue asked softly from the side.
"No rush, let's rest for a bit first," Li Jia said nonchalantly after glancing at her phone.
"You'd better give me a satisfactory explanation!" Xiaolong couldn't contain his anger any longer. Ever since he got together with Li Jia, she had always seemed too mysterious and unfathomable to him, a feeling that Xiaolong really disliked.
"Hehe. Yes, yes! Oh, alright. Since you want to go down the mountain, let's go!" Li Jia picked up her phone and looked at it again. Then she smiled and said to Xiaoyue and Xiaolong. The three of them then took a car to the gate of the Dragon Dance Manor. Without waiting for anyone to announce their arrival, Li Jia and Xiaolong, led by Xiaoyue, swaggered into the manor.
"Elder, Second Elder, Third Elder, it's been a long time!" As soon as she entered the villa, Li Jia stepped forward and greeted the three elders standing in the hall with a smile.
"Hehe, it's truly a blessing for the Dragon Dance Society that Miss has returned safely. Please come in. We three brothers have important matters to attend to and cannot accompany Miss for the time being." Second Elder Yang Qinghai said to Li Jia and the other two with a forced smile and narrowed eyes, then stepped aside to clear the passage to the upper floor of the villa.
"Alright, then, I believe the elders will come to speak with us as soon as they finish dealing with their important matters. The will is here now, and the lawyer I hired for Xiaoyue will also arrive soon. Well then, elders, goodbye!" Li Jia gestured to stop Xiaoyue from speaking, and after saying this calmly, he gestured for Xiaoyue to follow him upstairs. They could discuss anything upstairs.
The three elders nodded slightly. "Don't worry, the Dragon Dance Party can't be leaderless for too long, Miss, please!" They may have ulterior motives, but they still had to put on a show.
After Li Jia and the other two disappeared from the second floor, the three elders simultaneously revealed a ruthless expression. "This little girl is really tough. It seems that we will have to use the second plan if we have no other choice!" Yang Qinghai said in a gloomy voice. Yu Xianming and Ma Bin also nodded slightly. "Let's put that matter aside for now. The matter at hand is the most important."
The elder's next words immediately perked Yang Qinghai and Ma Bin up. They checked the time and said, "We should be there soon! Hopefully, we can reach an agreement this time!"
As they were talking, a row of identical Cadillac sedans stopped at the entrance of the manor. The door of the car closest to the middle opened, and two people got out: Hong Guang and the cool Cang Lang. A group of underlings also got out of the other cars.
Upon seeing this, Yu Xianming and the others immediately greeted him with happy smiles. "Master Hong! It's been a long time! You're even more robust than before!" Yu Xianming uttered a rather dignified remark. Hong Guang also clasped his hands in greeting as he approached the three elders. "Elders, we've kept you waiting!"
"Please come in! The welcome banquet is ready! Let's eat and chat!" After Elder Yu Xianming finished speaking, he gestured for them to enter. Then, a group of people walked into the left side of the main hall on the first floor, which was a large banquet hall that was usually used for meetings. Now it had been temporarily converted into a banquet hall.
That's just how Chinese people are. Things become much simpler once they're on the dinner table. No matter where you are or how long you've lived there, as long as you're Chinese, you won't forget this habit. China's drinking culture is world-class and has a long history!
