"What's wrong with you? Why are you so nervous?" Li Jia asked, puzzled by Jiang Ling's expression.
"I need to talk to you. Let's get in your car!" Jiang Ling said and walked downstairs first, while Li Jia followed behind, confused.
Once inside the car parked in front of Building 19, Li Jia and Jiang Ling sat down. After a long silence, Li Jia looked at Jiang Ling, who was tense and wary, and burst out laughing. "Hehe, what's with that expression? Just say what's on your mind, I'm listening."
"Stop laughing! Be serious, I have a question for you! Do you have some ulterior motive towards those three siblings?" Jiang Ling said, staring intently at Li Feng.
"Huh? What do you mean? Do you have ulterior motives towards them? Why would you think that?" Li Jia asked, puzzled, seeing that Jiang Ling's expression was not joking.
“From the first day you met them, you showed them unusual concern. From Li Xiaoqing being framed for tutoring, to Li Xiaotong being bullied, and then yesterday’s flyer distribution incident, you kept hinting at me to ask Li Yan at the dinner table, and then you canceled the flyer distribution plan in the afternoon and disappeared. If I’m not mistaken, you must have gone to find those two security guards, right?” Jiang Ling increasingly felt that Li Jia had ulterior motives towards Li Xiaoqing and her two siblings, which was why she was being so nice to them.
"Uh, what does that prove?" Li Jia nodded to herself in agreement with Jiang Ling's analysis. This policewoman had a very delicate heart hidden beneath her seemingly carefree exterior.
“Of course it proves something. In Li Xiaoqing’s case, you used a fake business card to fool that arrogant old woman. Although I feel good about what you did, the fact that you used a fake business card shows that you are not honest. Moreover, you didn’t change your expression when you were lying; in fact, you were even more convincing than the real person. Therefore, we can guess that you… might be a swindler!” Jiang Ling nodded after making her own deduction. The more she thought about it, the more accurate her deduction seemed. So, a hint of excitement appeared in her eyes as she looked at Li Jia! Police officers always have a certain impulse when they see swindlers or thieves. They want to handcuff these people, drag them back to the police station, and then throw them in jail.
"Hmm, your deduction is well-founded. Anything else?" Li Jia looked at Jiang Ling's expression, but he didn't have much of a reaction himself. Instead, he felt very happy because Jiang Ling was protecting his three younger siblings.
"And about Li Xiaotong, I know very well what kind of people Li Xiaotong usually hangs out with. You, a thin person, couldn't possibly be capable of defeating those people. So, you must have other accomplices. In other words, you must be a member of a gang!" Jiang Ling'er's words made Li Jia start to smile. This policewoman really had a knack for making connections; she could even associate such a small matter with a gang.
"Hmm? Anything else?" Li Jia simply adjusted her posture to make herself more comfortable, and then continued to listen to Jiang Ling's analysis.
"And about Li Yan's matter, you didn't ask him yourself but made me ask him, which shows you're very cunning. And then you must have gathered your accomplices again to cause trouble for those two security guards, am I right?" Jiang Ling was about to take out the handcuffs, but seeing Li Jia's still calm expression, she suddenly had a little doubt about her confident deduction. "Could it be... that's not the case?"
"Hehe, very good! You have a real talent for being a detective, I'm rooting for you!" Li Jia said, laughing and clapping. "So, your conclusion is that I'm a human trafficker? I'm right, aren't I?"
"How do you know? Could it be that you really are?!" Jiang Ling was startled by Li Jia's words, realizing that her own thoughts were indeed true.
“That’s easy. First, Li Xiaoqing and the others are orphans. Second, I have a gang. Third, I’ve always treated them very well. Finally, you suspect I have ulterior motives. They have no money and there are only a few of them. So, I have no other job to do. Human trafficking is the most suitable.” Li Jia finished speaking and then withdrew the smile from her face.
"Officer Jiang Ling, thank you so much!" Li Jia's serious demeanor made Jiang Ling a little uncomfortable. "Why are you thanking me?"
"I want to thank you for taking care of the three of them!" Ever since Li Jia learned that Jiang Ling was her younger brother and sister-in-law's neighbor, she had been looking for an opportunity to use Jiang Ling to further protect her younger brother and sister-in-law. Today, Li Jia decided to reveal her identity. Even if Jiang Ling had any prejudice against her, she believed that Jiang Ling would help her.
"Explain yourself clearly, why are you thanking me?" Jiang Ling's expression became even more wary after she finished speaking, and she kept thinking to herself, "Is this guy thanking me for letting him meet Xiao Qing and the others? If so, I'm in big trouble."
“Because I am their older brother.” After saying this, Li Jia looked apologetically at the stunned Jiang Ling and repeated, “I am their older brother.”
"You...? What did you say? You're their older brother?! That's impossible! Their bastard older brother is named Li Chen! He ran away from home more than ten years ago." Jiang Ling was clearly bewildered by Li Jia's words, but she really couldn't have a good impression of Li Xiaoqing and the others' older brother.
“I’m not lying to you. I am their long-lost older brother, Li Chen. It’s just that I stopped using that name more than ten years ago, and there is no such person as Li Chen in the world anymore.” Li Jia said, looking at Jiang Ling with sincere eyes.
