As the people in the room giggled, Li Jia sat down in a seat near the front. It wasn't time for class yet, so after whispering among the women, they chose a fiery woman to sit next to Li Jia.
"Hello, my name is Wang Xiao." After saying that, the woman extended her hand with a serious expression. There was no sign of a ring on her hand, which meant that Wang Xiao was currently a single girl.
"Li Jia!" Li Jia looked at the woman sitting in front of her, smiled faintly, and gently squeezed Wang Xiao's hand. "It feels pretty good," Li Jia thought to herself.
"This guy is pretty cool, talking so arrogantly?" Wang Xiao thought to himself as he listened to Li Jia's self-introduction. Originally, Wang Xiao wanted Li Jia to play the clown, because her strength was extraordinary. If a woman has power beyond her own imagination, she will naturally want to spread it around.
Wang Xiao is just that kind of person. She is naturally strong, stronger than most men. The sisters chose her to get to know Li Jia first because of her cheerful personality and boyish charm. Another reason is her strength. Her long, slender hands possess a strength that is completely disproportionate to her appearance. Wang Xiao often unconsciously grips people's hands so tightly that they hurt unbearably. As a result, she doesn't even have a boyfriend yet.
"Li Jia, right? You're so rude! How can you shake hands like that? A man acting all shy and hesitant has no manly spirit at all! No way! Shake hands again!" Wang Xiao saw the many women behind her giving her meaningful glances, the meaning being, "You have to show this man what you're capable of! Go for it!"
Most of the women behind him seemed to have cheerful personalities, with only a few sitting quietly, though they all had faint smiles on their faces. Clearly, they knew everything about Wang Xiao, because on his first day there, Wang Xiao had an arm-wrestling match with the chef who was teaching there, and Wang Xiao won easily. The chef had been a knife-cutting master for thirty years.
"Okay, let's get to know each other again. I'm Wang Xiao!" After saying that, Wang Xiao stretched out his hand again, watching Li Jia's movements.
"Alright! I'm Li Jia, note, Li Jia, not the Li family! Nice to meet you!" When Li Jia extended her hand, a smug smile appeared on Wang Xiao's face. The seven or eight women behind her stood up and waited for Li Jia to make a fool of herself. One of them, a young woman, took out a high-definition mobile phone and prepared to point it at the two of them.
The moment their hands clasped together, the seven women behind them swarmed around her, snapping photos of Li Jia's face with their phones, as if afraid they wouldn't miss her grimacing expression.
After Li Jia grasped Wang Xiao's hand, she immediately understood the woman's little trick. However, Li Jia was puzzled as to why Wang Xiao would use this method to embarrass her. No matter how strong a woman's hand is, she can't possibly beat a man's. But when Li Jia saw the confident smile on Wang Xiao's face and felt the pressure coming from her hand, she thought, "Huh? This girl's hand is really strong!"
Feeling playful, Li Jia simply went along with Wang Xiao's rhythm. When Wang Xiao exerted force, he exerted force; when Wang Xiao didn't exert force, he didn't exert force either. But outwardly, the two really looked like old friends who hadn't seen each other for many years, holding hands for a long time without separating.
The women around her weren't having it and started cheering Wang Xiao on: "Go, Xiao Xiao! Go!! Don't hold back! You have to let the younger students know who the senior is!"
"Xiaoxiao, did you not eat today?"
"Xiaoxiao, you wouldn't have fallen for this pretty boy, would you?"
The women standing around made it clear that they wanted to give Li Jia a hard time and let him know who was in charge here.
Wang Xiao's face was bulging with veins as he gritted his teeth and made one effort after another. Unfortunately, Li Jia's expression remained unchanged from beginning to end, always calm and composed.
"Stop! I give up!" Wang Xiao finally gave up and withdrew his hand first, rubbing his slightly reddened hand. Wang Xiao looked at Li Jia as if she were a monster, and just as the group of women were about to continue their attack, the teacher appeared!
Today's teacher wore a tall chef's hat, looking as if he had just run up from the kitchen downstairs. He carried a basket of vegetables and walked to the lecture platform. "Alright, today we won't talk about theory. I'll teach you two dishes and demonstrate the steps!"
The teacher looked like the kind of burly chef from Northeast China. As he spoke, he placed the vegetables and meat from the basket on the counter. Then he looked at the dozen or so people gathered around the demonstration table. Li Jia, being the only green among the many beauties, naturally caught his eye a few more times.
"Today I'll be teaching you two Northeastern Chinese dishes. We've mostly taught Sichuan and Hunan cuisine before, but starting today we'll also be covering some Northeastern dishes. Alright, without further ado, let's begin with the first one: Golden Sweet and Sour Pork." The teacher finished speaking and picked up a gleaming cleaver. A lean piece of pork quickly transformed into thin slices under his knife…
"The key to making Golden Sweet and Sour Pork is to get the ratio of egg yolks to egg whites right when coating the meat with batter. This will ensure the meat turns golden brown when fried and looks very appetizing. Now I'll start demonstrating. The key to making this dish is..." The teacher explained as she demonstrated, and soon a brightly colored and fragrant plate of sweet and sour pork was freshly made!
Immediately, all the attention in the classroom was drawn to the golden sweet and sour pork, and at that moment, the women seemed to be discussing a plan to deal with Li Jia.
