Chapter 52 Pay for Me

"What's up?" Li Jia pressed the answer button, and Chen Yi's voice came from the other end of the phone. "Of course I'm up. It's been a long time since we went for coffee. Can you buy me another cup tomorrow afternoon?"

"Is that all?" Li Jia asked, listening to the noise on the phone.

"That's right! Wait for my call! Bye!" Chen Yi hung up the phone after saying that, while Li Jia, feeling a bit annoyed, put down her phone, got up and went into the bathroom. "I wonder what this little girl is up to now!" After taking a shower, Li Jia muttered to herself as she lay on the bed and went to sleep.

The next day, Saturday, the first thing Li Jia did after getting up early was to buy a large amount of lavish breakfast and go to Li Xiaoqing's house. It was the weekend, and none of them had to go to school. Li Feng decided to treat the three siblings to lunch, along with policewoman Jiang Ling. "If possible, it would be best to invite Li Xiaotong's homeroom teacher, Hai Mingyue, as well, but I think I'll pass." Thinking of the scene on Zhongzhou Road that day, Li Jia immediately dismissed the idea.

"Xiaotong, has no one bothered you at school these past few days?" Li Jia asked, looking into Li Xiaotong's eyes after finishing breakfast.

"No...no!" Ever since Li Jia carried her on his back that day, Li Xiaotong hadn't spoken coldly to Li Jia. In addition, the way Li Jia touched her head that day had deeply moved Li Xiaotong. Subconsciously, Li Xiaotong had begun to hope that this "adopted brother" could drop the "adopted" part. However, she also knew that this seemed to be an impossible thing. Blood ties are blood ties, and blood relations cannot be faked. Therefore, Li Xiaotong had a wish that Li Jia might actually be her biological older brother.

Li Xiaoqing sat quietly to the side, watching Li Xiaotong. Looking at her second sister, who she remembered as somewhat stubborn and unyielding, she wondered, "When did she become so quiet?"

After finishing his meal, Li Yan returned to his room, saying he wanted to review his lessons.

"Alright, remember to tell Brother Li if anything happens. You guys go ahead and study. Xiaoqing, tutor Xiaotong a bit more. I have some errands to run, I'll be back before noon, then we can go out for lunch together." After saying that, Li Jia stood up again and patted Li Xiaotong's hair. "Good luck, Xiaotong, I know you'll succeed! I'm off!"

After seeing Li Jia off, Li Xiaoqing looked at Li Xiaotong, who had a happy expression on her face. "Xiaotong, Brother Li just touched your hair, and you didn't object?" Li Xiaoqing knew that Li Xiaotong valued her hair very much. Even if she wanted to touch it, she wouldn't allow it. Although Li Xiaotong's hair wasn't long now, it was dyed back to black and was definitely black and shiny enough.

“I don’t know why this is happening. Last time when Brother Li touched me, I didn’t feel uncomfortable. Only when I was little could my brother touch my hair. No one else could. I don’t know why I don’t feel uncomfortable when Brother Li touches me now.” After Li Xiaotong finished speaking, she looked at her sister in front of her with a question mark on her face.

Li Xiaoqing couldn't understand why Li Xiaotong was acting this way. Suddenly, a thought flashed through her mind: "Could it be that Li Jia is... her brother?" Recalling the day she first met Li Jia, everything that had happened since then made Li Xiaoqing increasingly convinced that her suspicions were true. However, there was no evidence to prove that Li Feng was her biological older brother, so Li Xiaoqing temporarily put aside her thoughts and pulled Li Xiaotong into the bedroom to tutor her in foreign languages.

Li Jia was unaware that her habitual actions would evoke so many thoughts in Li Xiaotong and Li Xiaoqing. Instead, she continued to excitedly search for gifts for the three siblings in the cultural mall in City B. At noon, Li Feng called Jiang Ling'er and then picked up the four of them to have a sumptuous lunch. He gave Li Xiaotong some stationery and tutoring materials, Li Yan a Parker pen, and Li Xiaoqing a set of genuine National Geographic magazines.

Seeing the happy expressions on Li Xiaoqing and her two siblings' faces, Jiang Ling slowly began to accept Li Jia's change in status and felt that Li Jia's observation period was over. Therefore, Jiang Ling was particularly excited today, chatting non-stop with the three siblings and smiling at Li Jia. This surprised Li Jia, who originally thought that Jiang Ling would be at odds with her for a while, but she did not expect that she would let go of the estrangement between them so quickly.

Jiang Ling was initially furious with Li Jia, her irresponsible older brother, but after she had already hit and scolded him, and with the three siblings becoming happier every day under Li Jia's care, she no longer felt the need to continue the cold war with him. As long as Li Jia treated the three siblings well, that was enough for her.

The lunch was a complete success. After dropping everyone off at home, Li Jia received a call from Chen Yi, asking her to meet at Starbucks at 3 p.m. Li Jia didn't know what Chen Yi was up to, but she still had a good impression of this girl she had met a few times and had coffee with. After hanging up, Li Jia drove around B City.

Li Jia arrived at Starbucks at 3 p.m. sharp, the same one as last time. After parking her car, she remembered the time she came here for coffee and someone stole her license plate. With a smile, Li Jia walked through the large glass doors of Starbucks.

"Here!" Chen Yi's voice was heard as soon as Li Jia entered the room. There was another girl sitting by the window. She reached out and greeted Li Jia when she entered.

Li Jia walked over with a smile and sat down opposite Chen Yi and another girl. "Brother Li, this is my good friend Zhao Fei, Xiao Fei. This is Li Jia, Brother Li." As soon as Li Jia sat down, Chen Yi generously introduced the two of them.

"Hello!" Li Jia smiled and nodded in greeting.
