Seeing Chen Yi's nervous expression, Li Jia smiled faintly and said, "What's there to be nervous about? I promised you I would go, so don't worry."
Seeing that Li Jia hadn't changed her mind, Chen Yi was happy again. When Li Feng dropped her off at her doorstep, she kept saying, "Brother Li, you have to come! If you don't come, I'm doomed!"
After sending Chen Yi back, Li Jia thought about Chen Yi's expression and chuckled to herself, "This little girl is too nervous. Even if I don't go, the ball will still go on as long as one person is missing!" But when Li Jia went there that night, she realized why Chen Yi was so nervous.
Looking at the time, Li Jia realized it was still early before class. She drove to the media company where she had previously made promotional flyers and had them design some more in-store decorations, posters, and roll-up banners. After finishing at the advertising company, it was already 5:30 PM. Seeing that she still had time, she drove back to the store to change into an outfit for the evening's dance.
"Li Jia, you're back. Do you have class tonight?" Meng Yao greeted her, took Li Jia's coat from her, and casually draped it over the hanger next to her, then asked with a smile.
"Well, I'm going to a friend's birthday party after class. Give me some advice on what to wear?" Li Jia and Meng Yao walked upstairs talking. Ever since Meng Yao held her own fashion show, she had never seen Meng Yao wear those few outfits again; she had always worn the same long dress from the beginning.
“You look good in anything, but since it’s a ball, it would be better to dress more formally. Your beige suit would be nice,” Meng Yao suggested.
"Okay, I'll wear this, thank you!" Li Jia said and went into the bedroom to change her clothes. Meng Yao smiled and went downstairs, handing the coat that Li Jia had taken off to Zhou Xiaoyu, "Take care of your Brother Li."
"Okay!" Zhou Xiaoyu took the coat and turned to get busy.
"I'm leaving. Don't wait for me for dinner tonight. I'll be back as soon as possible." Li Jia had changed into her rarely worn beige suit, paired with a plaid shirt, without a tie, exuding a casual yet dignified air.
Looking at Li Jia's clothes, Meng Yao's face warmed slightly. "I know, have fun." She stepped forward and straightened Li Jia's shirt collar, saying softly.
Being so close to Meng Yao made Li Jia feel a faint warmth, a warmth similar to that of home. Looking at Meng Yao's slightly flushed face, Li Jia reached out and gently patted Meng Yao's smooth shoulder. "Don't worry! You guys are busy, I'm going out!" After saying that, she turned and walked out.
Upon arriving at the training classroom, Li Jia was practically a national treasure in everyone's eyes. Li Jia was already quite tall, and with his refined appearance, coupled with a beige suit and plaid shirt, and the faint smile that always graced his face, Li Jia's charm was off the charts today.
After the class, he didn't remember anything the teacher said at all; he just listened to Wang Xiao and An Ran commenting on him.
After class, An Ran insisted on taking one of Li Jia's arms. Helpless, Li Jia had no choice but to let the two of them pull her out of the training classroom. As soon as they stepped out of the door, An Ran let go of his arm and ran a few steps to a blue Lexus IS-F. A handsome man got out of the car, a head taller than Li Feng, with a model-like physique. He smiled and gave An Ran a hug, followed by a passionate kiss.
An Ran led the handsome man to Li Jia and Wang Xiao. "This is my fiancé, Liang Feng. Feng, this is Wang Xiao, whom you know. And this is Li Jia, our training class's national treasure." An Ran's face was full of happiness as she introduced Liang Feng, clearly showing how good Liang Feng was to her.
"Hello!" Liang Feng nodded first, his expression somewhat arrogant.
"Xiao Anzi, Guobao and I are leaving first. You two go have some alone time! Goodbye!" Wang Xiao seemed to dislike Liang Feng very much, and pulled Li Jia to get into the Passat first.
An Ran ignored Wang Xiao's reaction, and happily led her fiancé into the Lexus. The Lexus quickly started and disappeared from Li Jia and Wang Xiao's sight.
"You seem to dislike An Ran's fiancé?" Li Jia felt that the name Liang Feng sounded familiar, but seeing Wang Xiao's reaction, she thought Wang Xiao should know him, so she asked casually.
“He’s a liar! I’ve told Anran so many times, but she just won’t believe me! Take me home! I’m so tired today!” Wang Xiao didn’t want to talk about Liang Feng anymore, so she said one sentence and then stopped.
"I'd be happy to help. Where?" Li Jia didn't press further and readily agreed to Wang Xiao's request.
"Education Department Residential Area." The residential area Wang Xiao mentioned was a community built in City B specifically for some outstanding teachers in the education field. The entire community is not large, only about a dozen buildings, but the people living here are either top experts or high-ranking officials in the education field, and any one of them has quite a background.
Li Jia was also somewhat surprised by Wang Xiao's identity, but out of habit, she didn't ask any further questions. After sending Wang Xiao back, there were only 20 minutes left before it was almost 9 o'clock, and Li Feng would definitely not be late for the time he had arranged with Chen Yi. The car weaved through the streets and alleys, and finally arrived at the gate of Tianfu Garden with five minutes to spare.
Chen Yi had been waiting for half a day. Because she didn't want her family to disturb her today, she didn't even bring her phone. She waited at the entrance of the community for more than half an hour. Only when she saw Li Jia's white Passat appear in front of her did Chen Yi finally feel relieved, because tonight's situation was really too special.
Chen Yi grabbed Li Jia's arm. "Brother Li, you're finally here! I was so worried! I thought you weren't coming!" Li Jia noticed tears welling up in Chen Yi's eyes and patted her head. "I, Li Jia, always keep my word. Happy birthday." With that, Li Jia took a large Garfield toy he had bought on the way from his car and handed it to Chen Yi, who was still clinging to his arm.
"Thank you... thank you, Brother Li!" Chen Yi accepted the large Garfield toy that Li Jia gave her, tears welling up in her eyes, but they eventually fell.
"It's just a doll, don't make such a fuss," Li Jia said to Chen Yi with a smile.
"You don't know! Come on in, the dance is about to start!" Chen Yi said, then smiled through her tears and pulled Li Jia into the wealthy neighborhood.
After walking a short distance, they arrived at a brightly lit villa. Once inside, after a quick glance around the room, they finally understood why Chen Yi was so anxious about whether they would come or not.
