Chapter 155 Disappointment

The three of them went to stake out the coffee shop across from Vincent's company again.

"Is it even useful for us to just wait around like this? There are just normal people coming and going." Hu Yanjing said, glancing up at the opposite side while doing his homework.

“Of course it’s useful. Their employees always leak information when they’re slacking off.” Xia Xiang was also frantically doing her homework. “Killing one person is easy, but taking down a gang requires irrefutable evidence and the strength to fight back.”

"Even if we kill Number Two, there's still Number Three. We must nip it in the bud."

"What the hell!" Hu Yanjing glanced at Xia Xiang. "What have you been doing? We're only in middle school."

Ren Chenfeng was drawn by Hu Yanjing's voice and looked up at Xia Xiang's homework.

“We’ll take the joint entrance exam early,” Xia Xiang said calmly. “That way we’ll have more time to register for the Imperial Guard selection.”

“That makes sense,” Ren Chenfeng frowned and then relaxed. “I’ll go and find out if I can take the joint entrance exam ahead of schedule.”

"What the hell are you talking about!" Hu Yanjing ruffled his hair; he didn't want to be alone! He had no choice but to stick with these two annoying guys!

Xia Xiang got home in the evening.

"Dad, what are you doing sneaking around like that?" Xia Xiang leaned against the door, holding a bag in one hand and stretching out her arm to block the doorway with the other.

You scared me to death!

Ye Siren had just glanced back at the house when he heard a familiar voice before he could turn around. He was startled and clutched his wildly beating heart as a large notebook fell out of his arms.

When Ye Siren saw the property certificate fall out, he immediately bent down to pick it up, but froze on the spot, stopped by Xia Xiangfu.

"Property deed?!" Xia Xiang picked it up, then cast a dispelling spell, "Rui Li ㄈ—Wu La Ba Ha—Dispelling Spell"

"Xiaoying, I..."

Ye Siren never expected that he would be caught stealing, especially by his own youngest daughter. He was filled with remorse, shame, and embarrassment, wishing he could disappear into the ground.

"Dad, what are you doing with the property certificate?" Xia Xiang asked, putting the property certificate away immediately.

"Xiaoying, it's like this. I have a friend named Li Daxiong, and he's really had a tough time." Ye Siren quickly explained when Xia Xiang asked.

“He owes money to underground banks and is sick and dying, so I lent him the money temporarily as collateral, otherwise the people from the underground banks would kill him.”

"That's terrible," Xia Xiang's expression softened slightly.

"Yes," Ye Siren nodded repeatedly when he saw Xia Xiang's expression soften.

"What does that have to do with our family?" Xia Xiang asked, puzzled. "Doesn't he have his own house? He can sell it to pay off his debts."

“His house has already been sold,” Ye Siren said.

"Then why doesn't he pay off his debts? Why does he want to use our house to settle them?" Xia Xiang asked, feigning ignorance.

"He sold his previous house to pay off his gambling debts," Ye Siren said, bowing his head.

"So what is his relationship with the Xia family, and why is the Xia family's house being used to pay off his debts?"

Xia Xiang looked coldly at her unworldly father, feeling an overwhelming sense of disappointment, but not sadness.

She couldn't say she was close to this father. All her good impressions of Ye Siren disappeared when she learned that he was the eldest son of the Yehenara family.

“But he will die. I vouched for him, and the underground banks won’t let us off the hook,” Ye Siren said worriedly. “I’m just lending him the money temporarily so the underground banks won’t harm him. He’ll be fine once he pays back the money.”

Seeing that Xia Xiang remained unmoved, Ye Siren then asked, "Xiao Ying, you can understand your father, right?"

Xia Xiang shook her head decisively and said coldly, "Dad is afraid that Li Daxiong will be beaten to death by the underground bank, but he's not afraid that our family of six will end up on the streets, right?"

“Xiaoying, that’s not how it is!” Ye Siren immediately explained when he heard her say that, “It’s just that he used it as collateral. Once he pays back the money, he can get the property certificate back.”

"How much do you owe?" Xia Xiang was furious. How could there be such a stupid person!

"Five million," Ye Siren said dejectedly.

"Alright, I can give you five million to save Li Daxiong," Xia Xiang said calmly.

"Are you kidding me? How could you have five million?" Ye Siren was completely incredulous.

“I’m not going to give you the property certificate. For Mom’s sake, I won’t tell anyone. You’d better behave.” Seeing that he didn’t believe her, Xia Xiang didn’t say anything more. “But if you keep trying to do this, I have plenty of reasons to kill you.”

Looking into Xia Xiang's eyes, Ye Siren felt a chill run down his spine. That look was all too familiar, and it was terrifying.

Seeing that he didn't speak, Xia Xiang walked straight inside.

Ye Siren realized what was happening and, thinking about the underground bank, suddenly felt a surge of courage and called out to Xia Xiang.

"Little Firefly!"

"What else do you want to say?" Xia Xiang asked, trying to suppress her anger as she turned around.

"Please save my dad, Li Daxiong will definitely pay me back." Ye Siren still tried to struggle.

"Dad, I'm so disappointed in you," Xia Xiang said, shaking her head. "You'd rather believe Li Daxiong will pay back the money than believe I have five million!"

"Uh..." Ye Siren choked up upon hearing this. Is this the same thing? No way?

"If you have any, lend it to Dad. Li Daxiong will pay it back soon," Ye Siren said weakly.

"Okay," Xia Xiang readily agreed.

Ye Siren breathed a sigh of relief, but the next second, his relieved smile froze on his face—
