Sun Shangxiang hadn't even had time to put down her luggage when Xia Xiang summoned her to pull radishes for three hours, leaving her deeply resentful.
When she saw the bedroom Xia Xiang led her to, her face immediately darkened—
"You'll be staying here from now on," Xia Xiang said, leading the person to another bedroom on the second floor.
"I don't like such a pink room."
Sun Shangxiang looked at the pink bedding with lace trim, the princess bed, the pink and white curtains, the pink dressing table, and even the walk-in closet full of cute princess dresses with disdain. Her face turned as black as the bottom of a pot.
"You're staying at my house, and you still have so many demands?" Xia Xiang raised an eyebrow, trying hard to control her facial expression.
She finally understood the joy Wang Yase felt when he messed with her; Sun Shangxiang's expression was simply too adorable.
"But your home style doesn't match yours at all," Sun Shangxiang said, looking at her floral, pastoral-style clothes.
“I’d like to,” Xia Xiang said.
"Someone will be cooking dinner tonight, you should rest first." Xia Xiang said and turned to leave.
"Wait a minute," Sun Shangxiang threw her luggage onto the bed and grabbed her.
"What's wrong?" Xia Xiang turned around and looked at her with a puzzled expression.
"Who exactly are you?" Sun Shangxiang asked.
Xia Xiang asked with a serious expression, "Do you really want to know?"
"Hmm," Sun Shangxiang nodded heavily, a bad premonition rising in her heart.
"Guess!" Xia Xiang laughed mischievously.
Sun Shangxiang: ......
“Actually, it’s not that I can’t tell you,” Xia Xiang said, “but you have to pass my test first.”
"What kind of test?" Sun Shangxiang asked, though she no longer trusted her.
"Here," Xia Xiang pulled a thick book out from behind her back and gave it to her. "When you finish reading it and pass my test, you can ask me a question."
"Seriously?" Sun Shangxiang asked with some doubt.
"Believe it or not," Xia Xiang shrugged, saying indifferently.
"I think so!" Sun Shangxiang said through gritted teeth.
——
Sun Shangxiang was engrossed in reading this obscure and difficult book in her bedroom, so much so that she didn't even hear Xiao Qiao and Zhang Fei coming over to do chores.
"Miss," Zhang Fei's influence on Xia Xiang has improved considerably since Xia Xiang had Gan Zhaolie bring food back last time. "Xiao Qiao is injured today, so I can help with the cooking."
"Fei, it's okay." Xiao Qiao said, her face pale. "It's just cooking, I can manage."
"But you were injured today, and you even gave Zhou Yu a blood transfusion..." Zhang Fei said worriedly.
"It's okay," Xiao Qiao insisted.
"Alright!" Xia Xiang stopped the two of them. "Big guy, go fetch water and fill up the forty-nine water vats by the orchard."
"But this is all automated irrigation, what's the point of carrying water?" Zhang Fei asked, scratching the back of his head.
"It serves a decorative purpose," Xia Xiang said coldly, rolling her eyes.
"Hurry up, fly!" Xiao Qiao pushed the person out with great effort.
The two went to the water vat and saw two small buckets for carrying water, which looked like children's sand toys. The water vat next to it was taller than Zhang Fei and so wide that it would take four Zhang Feis to hug it.
"Fei, are you alright?" Xiao Qiao looked at Zhang Fei with some sympathy.
"I can!" Zhang Fei said, clenching his fist. "But I take back what I said about her being a good person!"
Xiao Qiao: Hehe—
When she returned, Xia Xiang was already chopping vegetables.
"Let me chop the vegetables, I'm pretty good with a knife," Xiao Qiao said, trying to start a conversation.
"No need," Xia Xiang said without turning her head. "You sit there, pick out the red beans, mung beans, and black beans, and put them into the three jars respectively."
"Okay," Xiao Qiao said, sitting on a stool outside the island platform and quickly picking out beans.
"You have to pick them one by one," Xia Xiang said, turning to her with the cleaver in hand. "You're so fast, you scared these beans. Who am I supposed to ask for compensation?"
"Yes!" Xiao Qiao exclaimed in surprise.
"Don't make any noise, you'll disturb me." Xia Xiang turned back to chopping vegetables.
