Chapter 01 A Happy Day for a Grandmother of Three

Chapter 01 A Happy Day for a Grandmother of Three

5:30 in the morning.

Pu Xiang woke up a few minutes before the alarm rang. The first thing she saw when she opened her eyes was the pure white ceiling.

She had been looking at the unchanging white for more than ten years, and suddenly she remembered that they had moved into this house a long time ago.

Time flies. She has been busy all her life and is now 65 years old.

The son got married and established himself in a big city with a high-paying job. He married a city girl who was well-educated and well-off, and he has three grandchildren.

Whether in the community where she lives or back in her hometown in the countryside, everyone who sees her is envious of her and says that she is blessed.

Pu Xiang is a rural person, an old rural lady, who can enjoy life in a big city with her son.

In the words of young people, that is a winner in life.

Pu Xiang woke up for a few seconds, then turned sideways and sat up on the bed with her hands.

Her waist is not in good condition. She did too much heavy work when she was young and twisted her waist several times, which caused her to suffer from lumbar disc herniation and she has never been in good health since then.

In addition, as I grow older, my legs and feet, which were once in good condition, are no longer as flexible as before, not to mention my waist.

In this state, I guess I'll have to follow her into the coffin.

There was a small bed next to the big bed, in which a baby less than 2 years old was sleeping with a rosy face.

This is her son Shi Jiajie's third son and her third grandson.

This kid likes to cry and make trouble in the middle of the night, but he can sleep until about nine o'clock in the morning. Although it is a bit noisy, it is getting better and better with him every day.

Pu Xiang tiptoed out of the room and closed the door quietly.

There are many people in my family, including three adults and three children, and their tastes are different. Preparing three meals a day is a headache.

Although Pu Xiang used to run snack shops and small restaurants in the past, he sometimes felt that he did not do a good job. When the dishes were served, adults and children would shake their heads and say they did not want to eat, were tired of eating, and had no appetite.

When asked what they want to eat, their answer is always "Anything is fine, just anything."

If I were to order some food, I would just want to eat Buddha Jumps Over the Wall, which would not be a difficult task for Pu Xiang.

Today's breakfast was a light one.

The night before, my son said he wanted to drink century egg porridge, my daughter-in-law said she wanted to eat shrimp wontons, my eldest grandson asked for egg pancakes, and my second grandson wanted to eat beef noodles.

Four people, four styles.

Pu Xiang worked quickly. She washed the rice and put it in a pot to boil it first. Then she took some flour and started making the skin. While the dough was resting, she took out a small box of prawns from the fresh-keeping layer of the refrigerator. She had bought them at the supermarket the night before and had soaked them in water in a box and refrigerated them overnight. The shrimps were still alive and not completely dead, so they tasted fresher.

Crush the shrimp, remove the shrimp thread, and marinate with cooking wine and seasoning for a few minutes.

There is also meat filling chopped the night before in the refrigerator. When making wontons, wrap them with the meat filling and add a whole shrimp. One bite will definitely satisfy you.

After wrapping the wontons, cover them with wet gauze, prepare the flour batter for the egg pancakes, cut and fry the shredded sausage and tenderloin, cook the noodles and put them in cold water. The beef brisket for the beef noodles had been stewed the night before, so just heat it up in the pot later.

Pu Xiang did all this in an orderly manner, glanced at the time, and went to wake up her eldest grandson.

It's not that the child doesn't want to go to school, but he always likes to procrastinate in getting up in the morning. He is so slow that his father can't catch up with him when he goes to school. Not only the father and son, but also the couple have to quarrel, which is a headache.

My second grandson goes to kindergarten so he can go a little later. My daughter-in-law goes to work so she can just drop him off.

Compared to the eldest grandson who is slow and lazy, the second grandson is more outgoing. He is full of energy and runs around the house.

"Kangkang, don't run away. Come and wash your face and brush your teeth."

"Kang Kang, don't touch your brother's schoolbag, or he'll spank you."

"Hey, kid, I told you to stop moving, but you fell to the ground!"

When brothers fight, the younger one gets beaten up by the older one.

The second grandson came running over to complain, "Grandma, my brother hit me!"

The eldest grandson rushed over and chased the man and continued to beat him. The two of them circled around Pu Xiang, making him dizzy.

Boys are very strong. Even though Pu Xiang is only in elementary school, he already has a hard time holding on to the man. He was accidentally hit by two punches and it hurt.

The father couldn't bear it and shouted a few times, but the child didn't listen, so the mother also joined in.

In the morning, there is not only the smell of fireworks, but also the hustle and bustle of the world.

The family of four had breakfast, and the two adults took the two children to school one after the other.

The house finally became quiet.

Pu Xiang went into the room and took a look at her grandson. The child was sleeping soundly and was not woken up.

She returned to the dining table and started to eat breakfast. Her daughter-in-law had a poor appetite today and only ate six of the eight wontons. There were still two in the pot that were not yet mushy, so she took them out and ate them.

There was a little porridge left, so she divided it into two bowls and saved one for lunch. As she was by herself, she just wanted to have something to satisfy her hunger. She thought it was troublesome to make it specially.

She cleaned up the leftover biscuits and noodles from her grandson, which were clean and untouched by the children, and threw the remaining ones into the kitchen. She didn't feel sorry for these little things.

After eating, start to clean up the dishes, chopsticks and pots on the table. The gas stove and range hood also need to be wiped, otherwise the oil will accumulate and it will be more difficult to clean.

She thought about buying a dishwasher, but her son and daughter-in-law refused, saying that a machine would not be as clean as washing by hand.

Neither of them agreed, and as a mother, she didn't want to make the atmosphere at home unhappy, so she gave up the idea.

After cleaning the kitchen, I also cleaned the living room, study, and balcony. I sorted out the children's toys, unfinished snacks and their packaging bags, and the clothes, socks, and blankets that I had taken off the night before and left aside, and then threw those that needed to be thrown into the washing machine.

In the past, when her son was alone, she would say a few words while cleaning up. Now that there is a daughter-in-law, she is not able to say many things. As a mother, she says that both her son and daughter are fine, but as a mother-in-law, she cannot say a word.

After putting away the things, I mopped the whole house. When I bought the house, my son insisted on buying a duplex, which had a staircase, which also had to be mopped.

If you clean every day, it’s not very noticeable, but if you don’t clean for a day or two, the floor and table tops will be covered with dust, and you don’t know where it comes from.

She really wanted to buy two sweeping robots, but her son and daughter-in-law complained that the machines could not sweep the stairs, and in the end it would still have to be done manually, so it would be better for them to save the money.

Pu Xiang had no choice but to close her mouth out of habit.

After finishing all this, the third grandson woke up and started crying. She went to change his diaper, dressed him, carried him out, wiped his face and fed him milk powder.

After the child had eaten his fill, he took the time to take the clothes out of the washing machine and hang them up to dry. When everything was done, it was already late, so Pu Xiang pushed the cart and took the child and his pile of things to buy groceries.

The market is full of raw fish and meat, and there are a lot of people. The child's parents think there are too many bacteria, so she has to walk 200 meters to the supermarket to buy vegetables.

Big bags, small bags, plus a baby, the whole journey was full, and the journey back was even fuller.

It was a relaxing time at noon. She would feed the baby with a bottle and let him take a sip. She would watch him play on the crawling mat in the living room for a while. When the child got sleepy at one or two o'clock, she would coax him to sleep.

Only at this moment could Pu Xiang take a breath and rest for a while.

The weather has started to get cooler recently, and it's time to take out seasonal items, dry the thick quilts, take out the clothes, and wash and put away some summer items.

The name of housework is right; it is alive and grows on its own every day. You can never finish it no matter how hard you try.

The growth of leeks is not as good as it.

The child can sleep until about 3:30 in the afternoon. When he wakes up, he will be taken downstairs for a walk. There are several children of similar age in the community, and their grandparents will take them for a walk together.

Pu Xiang added several familiar people as WeChat friends, and would receive WeChat messages at about the same time. Sometimes she sent messages to others, and sometimes others sent messages to her.

[Grandma Lele, are you guys going downstairs today? ]

【We are going down now.】

Pu Xiang replied, "We're coming down too," and put the child in the stroller and went out with a backpack on her back.

The housing prices in the community they bought were not cheap, and the property fees were also much more expensive than those in ordinary communities, but the living environment was indeed good.

The greening downstairs of the community is very well done. The greenway is fully accessible, and there are lawns, slides, see-saws, etc. for children to play. Basically, as long as the children are not in kindergarten yet, they can kill time and release their energy here.

"Grandma Lele is here. It seems she is a little later today than yesterday."

"Yeah, the kid went to bed a little late today, so he got up late too."

"Lele is such a well-behaved kid, not noisy at all, and pretty. Look at his big eyes. He looks just like his mother. He will definitely be a handsome boy when he grows up."

"Your Tongtong is the most beautiful. The little girl is so white, just like a doll."

"Grandma Lele, you have three grandsons, but you still want a granddaughter. You are so blessed that you don't know how to appreciate it. Aunt Wang from the next door building knows that her daughter-in-law gave birth to two little girls. I don't know how jealous she is of you!"

According to Pu Xiang, one grandson or granddaughter is enough, but she cannot stop her son and daughter-in-law from having more children throughout their lives.

After the baby is born, she can only help take care of it.

Pu Xiang, who is blessed with three grandchildren, took the children for a walk. She then received WeChat messages from her son and daughter-in-law, saying that only one of them would go home for dinner tonight as her son was working overtime and would not be home for dinner.

Pu Xiang doesn't have to worry about picking up her eldest and second grandsons from school. Her in-laws will help and will stay for dinner most of the time.

He has only one daughter, who is not married far away. They live in the same city and have a good relationship, so they must visit each other frequently.

After the two in-laws arrived, Pu Xiang no longer had to worry about the three children and went into the kitchen to cook dinner.

After the family finished eating and drinking, the in-laws took the children for a walk, while Pu Xiang cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and went downstairs to take out the garbage.

If they had decided what to eat the next morning while they were eating and needed to buy ingredients, she would take this time to go to the supermarket and buy them.

The people in my family are picky eaters and only want fresh food. No one will eat food that has been taken out of the freezer.

After finishing all these, the ones who went for a walk also came back. The older ones did their homework while their parents accompanied them, and the younger ones were taken to take a bath by their parents. After one bath, there was another one. The eldest grandson was easier, as he was already in elementary school. He could do things like taking a bath by himself. All they had to do was help him get his clothes and blow-dry his hair after washing it.

After putting the children to sleep, Pu Xiang still has to clean the bathroom.

Children’s clothes cannot be washed together with adults’ clothes, and there are not so many washing machines at home, so she washes clothes in several batches. The children’s clothes are washed by hand at night.

Her own clothes and those of her son and daughter-in-law had to be washed separately the next morning.

After her son and daughter-in-law went upstairs to sleep, she finished all her things and was finally able to wash up and lie down on the bed. She took one more look at the snow-white ceiling in the bedroom and ended this day of enjoying life with her son in the big city.

I am the first one in the family to get up and the last one to lie down. It is a solid and fulfilling day.
