Chapter 23

Chapter 23

twenty three

Entering the suite, Lin Ju took the initiative to hook her arms around Zhao Xingcan's neck.

Zhao Xingcan, who always controlled things from a superior position, was pushed against the door panel by her. With a dull "clang" sound, the door closed.

Lin Ju stood on tiptoe and kissed her almost rudely.

Zhao Xingcan's lips were scratched by her teeth, and he tasted a faint smell of blood on his tongue.

He lowered his eyes, pinched Lin Ju's chin, and the awkward kiss was forced to stop.

Lin Ju raised his head, his dark pupils seemed to be covered with a layer of mist.

The ceiling light from the entrance softly fell on Zhao Xingcan's eyebrows, diluting the coldness on his face. He raised his hand, hooked his slender fingers around Lin Ju's wrist, and shook it slowly.

Lin Ju felt like a puppet in Zhao Xingcan's hands. He easily grabbed her hand and shook it, but she was at a loss as to what to do and let him play with her.

Zhao Xingcan lowered his head and leaned close to Lin Ju's ear, "How can you kiss like this?"

There was a hint of teasing in his tone, and then he brushed away the sweaty hair stuck to her forehead, ran his fingers through her long hair, and held the back of her head.

Lin Ju let out a low cry, and the next second, Zhao Xingcan's delicate kisses fell upon her.

He kissed her forehead, cheeks, earlobes, lips and collarbone. The delicate kisses made her head dizzy and her legs weak. She was like a shaky kite, helplessly looking for someone to hold the string.

Suddenly, he hugged her waist.

However, her waist was too thin, and Zhao Xingcan seemed able to circle her waist with one hand. He couldn't help but open his hands and gesture. After a brief moment of distraction, Lin Ju raised her head and stared at Zhao Xingcan with wet eyes as if accusingly.

"Zhao Xingcan!" She usually pronounced the name "Zhao Xingcan" incorrectly, but now she pronounced the three words "Zhao Xingcan" clearly and loudly.

Zhao Xingcan was stunned for a moment, then laughed.

Lin Ju looked at his smile in a daze, feeling embarrassed and annoyed, but before she could get angry, he picked her up.

The white skirt drew a beautiful arc in the air, and the sunset light fell on the window frame. Lin Ju was placed in the middle of the snow-white bed by him, her long curly hair spread out.

She stared blankly at Zhao Xingcan in front of her, her eyes tracing his features, but just looking was not enough.

She reached out her hand again and used her trembling fingers to touch the eyebrows and eyes that she had once caught a glimpse of on the subway.

Her fingertips brushed across Zhao Xingcan's lips, and Lin Ju could no longer restrain herself. She opened her arms and took the initiative to hug his neck.

As she sank into the soft bed, her delicate suspender skirt was peeled off. She finally stopped being as reckless as before and became timid.

She grabbed Zhao Xingcan's hand and tried to block it very gently, but Zhao Xingcan stopped immediately.

He looked at her inquiringly. Lin Ju moved her lips and said, "This is my first time..."

Her voice was very soft. Zhao Xingcan heard it, but did not answer. He just leaned over and kissed her gently.

Her tense body gradually relaxed, and then she tried to accept it.

The joy came faster than she had imagined, and the resonance of their bodies gave her the illusion that her soul and Zhao Xingcan's were also in harmony. They became closer, and did that mean that she would have a greater weight in Zhao Xingcan's heart than before?

Lin Ju was thinking wildly. Only at this moment did she dare to have such wild ideas.

The afterglow by the window completely faded away, and the waves were hitting the outer wall.

The room was dim, the balcony was half open, and the soft white curtains fluttered on the wooden floor.

Zhao Xingcan was the first to wake up. Lin Ju curled up in his arms, her black hair scattered on her round, white shoulders. He reached out and gently lifted her hair. Lin Ju frowned and moved slightly, her hand resting on Zhao Xingcan's thigh.

Zhao Xingcan stopped moving. After a while, he leaned his hand over. The slender and delicate hand was like the translucent rice paper produced in Jiangnan, which would melt when held in the palm of his hand.

When Lin Ju woke up, Zhao Xingcan was wearing a black shirt and loose trousers, leaning on the balcony smoking.

He had just finished a video conference with the French side. The group had some matters that needed to be adjusted. His grandfather did not fully delegate power to him and even had some complaints about his private life, which made him feel a little irritated.

It was at this moment that he felt a soft and warm body gently pressing against his back.

He tilted his head, and Lin Ju leaned beside him, slightly tilting her head back, her long black hair cascading down, revealing the red marks dotted on her neck.

Zhao Xingcan heard her voice, soft and delicate, like a delicious and fluffy strawberry cheesecake, exactly the same as her cries in bed.

"Zhao Xingcan, I want to smoke too."

Zhao Xingcan was a little distracted and absent-minded: "It's in the room, I'll get it."

"This half in your hand will do." As soon as she finished speaking, she took it from his hand and took a slow puff. The smell of wormwood mixed with mint made her tired body seem to be more energetic.

She turned her head to look at him, her relaxed nerves making her eyes a little blurry, "What are you thinking about?"

What is Zhao Xingcan thinking?

He thought a lot during the time it took to smoke a cigarette.

The criticism from his grandfather, the undercurrents within the group, the fear of others, all kinds of right and wrong rumors, and Lin Ju.

Just when I was thinking about a lot of things, Lin Ju came closer, and the gray sky seemed to be split by a ray of light.

He turned around and lowered his eyes, and his deep eyes became gentle, a change he himself did not even notice.

He lifted Lin Ju's chin and asked himself if he could give up on her at this moment.

The answer is no, he wants to keep her.

"I was thinking about you," he answered truthfully.

Lin Ju started laughing when she heard this, and the cigarette ash shook onto her fingers, forming a small, gray handful.

She held the cigarette, stretched out her arms, hooked her hands around Zhao Xingcan's neck, and pressed herself against him. She bit his ear and whispered, "Zhao Xingcan, I'm hungry."

Zhao Xing tilted his head, smiling a little frivolously, "Not full?"

Lin Ju reacted belatedly, and a blush spread from her face to her snow-white, slender neck.

She raised her hand. Zhao Xing saw that she was about to elbow him again, so he immediately raised his hand to wrap around her elbow and hugged her tightly. "The place where I hit you last time is still bruised."

"You are lying, I clearly saw it..." She was halfway through her words when she caught a glimpse of Zhao Xingcan's playful eyes and immediately realized that she had fallen into his trap.

She had always been clumsy in speaking, and was somewhat embarrassed and annoyed, so she put on a fierce face and didn't want to pay attention to him.

Zhao Xingcan knew he had angered her, but seeing her angry face was sullen, he found it adorable. He smiled and coaxed her for a long time before she finally laughed.

The two washed up and went out to find food.

They sat in a restaurant by the sea, and the sea breeze blew, ruffling Lin Ju's long hair.

She didn't wear a hairband. Zhao Xingcan stretched out his hand. She looked at him and saw a thin black hairband on his wrist.

Lin Ju said "Huh", a little surprised, reached out to take it, and rolled up her hair and tied it up.

"How did you get this?"

"I remember I gave you a hair tie before, but you didn't like it. This is more convenient." Zhao Xingcan said as he pushed the cut steak on the plate to her hand.

The meal lasted until the restaurant closed, and the two of them, enjoying the sea breeze, had endless things to talk about. Zhao Xingcan talked about their family and some novel and unknown gossip, and Lin Ju listened attentively, as if she were listening to a TV drama.

She also talked about the interesting things she encountered in the project, but of course they could not be compared with the earth-shattering news of Zhao Xingcan. They were all ordinary little things.

However, Zhao Xingcan showed great interest, which made Lin Ju feel that he wanted to understand her urgently.

After returning from the island, Zhao Xingcan was about to go to Beijing for work. Lin Ju was about to part with him again, but she was reluctant to let him go. She hugged him at the door, greedily wanting to occupy more of his time.

Zhao Xingcan let her hang on him like a koala, leaving the assistant watching dumbfounded.

"Be good and wait for me at home."

Zhao Xingcan touched her ears and soothed her softly.

After being separated, Lin Ju moved back to the studio again.

When Zhao Xingcan was not around, she was able to live frugally and calmly, spending every day in the studio creating. She had long forgotten the three meals a day that Zhao Xingcan had set for her.

At one o'clock in the morning Beijing time, Zhao Xingcan took off his glasses, pinched his nose bridge lightly, and glanced down at the mobile phone on the table.

It had been two whole days. He was busy with work and had no time to take care of Lin Ju. The girl had not even sent him a message or called him.

This made him a little depressed. After returning to his residence from the company, Zhao Xingcan opened his photo album and flipped through hundreds of photos of Lin Ju, looking at them all night long.

Early the next morning, Zhao Xingcan sent a video message to Lin Ju.

After waiting for a while, the video was connected. The screen was blocked and he waited patiently.

The phone was probably held in Lin Ju's palm, against his chest. He could hear the girl's rapid breathing and the sound of fabric rubbing against each other.

He waited a while longer before the phone screen finally lit up. Lin Ju had her long hair loose, a plain headband on, and pink pajamas with patterns of kittens and puppies on them. This made her look like she was only eighteen, not yet an adult.

She put on her hearing aid and put her face close to the screen. "Zhao Xingcan, what's wrong? Is there something wrong?"

It’s only six o’clock now. After she said that, she rubbed her eyes twice, and her eyelids were red.

Zhao Xingcan leaned against the headboard, knees bent, a cigarette between his right hand and his phone in the other. He flicked the ash with his fingers and tilted his head to ask, "Did you stay up late last night?"

Lin Ju shook her head, but couldn't help yawning. She smiled innocently, "I've been busy in the studio these past two days and forgot about time."

Zhao Xingcan raised his eyebrows and snorted, "You forgot about me too."

Lin Ju half-opened her mouth and blinked. After several seconds, she reacted, raised her phone, and looked up at the man on the screen, "Zhao Xingcan, you missed me, didn't you?"

Zhao Xingcan remained silent. He stared at the girl on the screen, took a puff of his cigarette, and as the fatigue from waiting all night slowly dissipated, he said slowly, "I really want to hug you."

Lin Ju sits on the floor of her studio, with her recently completed work to her left.

She stared at it for a long time, took a long breath, leaned back and lay on the ground.

Zhao Xingcan said he missed him.

Lin Ju stretched out her hand and looked at the tiny scars on her fingers. If Zhao Xingcan saw these scars, he would probably scold her again.

Whenever Lin Ju saw Zhao Xingcan caring about her like this, she would always have the illusion that Zhao Xingcan might have fallen in love with her.

She missed him too.

Then...then go see him.

She said to herself, go now, don’t wait a moment, don’t hesitate, take out your phone to buy a plane ticket, and go directly to Beijing, which will only take more than two hours.

People do make decisions when they are impulsive. When she came to her senses, she was already standing at Beijing Airport.

Beijing is colder than Shanghai, and many people on the street have already put on thick coats. Lin Ju took out a gray sweatshirt from his backpack and put it on.

The hotel she booked was not far away, and it took more than ten minutes by taxi to get there. After checking in, she entered the room. Lin Ju lay on the bed and felt tired.

It was almost dawn, and she turned sideways, looking at her phone, wondering if Zhao Xingcan had fallen asleep. Lin Ju was lost in thought, and before she knew it, she had fallen asleep.

When she woke up, there was rain outside the window. The raindrops formed gray lines. Lin Ju stood at the window looking out and took a picture with her mobile phone.

Zhao Xingcan was in a meeting when he received the message from Lin Ju.

The little girl sent a photo, showing raindrops falling in lines and people walking on the road with umbrellas.

Her caption was, it’s raining so heavily in Beijing.

Zhao Xingcan subconsciously looked up and looked outside, but the gray blinds blocked his view.

The manager who was reporting on his work was stunned when he saw Zhao Xingcan suddenly stand up. He thought he had said something wrong and looked at him nervously.

Zhao Xingcan walked straight to the window, opened the blinds with his slender fingers, and glanced outside.

Turning around, I saw the manager standing there stiffly, and raised his hand to let him continue.

The boring work report meeting was turned into a mess because of this piece of information, like a small stone hitting the calm water surface, causing some splashes.

Zhao Xingcan returned to his seat, supporting his chin as he replied to Lin Ju.

Are you in Beijing?

The phone vibrated, and Lin Ju directly sent the hotel address.

【I'm here】

Zhao Xingcan was stunned and sat up straight.

The manager, still reporting, was startled again. He took a breath and carefully spoke of the project's losses this year. Zhao Xingcan raised his eyes slightly, motioning him to continue, and then typed on his phone with one hand.

Give me half an hour and I'll be there.

The second half of the meeting was cut down to ten minutes.

It took fifteen minutes to drive to Lin Ju's hotel.

With five minutes left, he trotted to the flower shop next to the hotel and bought a bunch of white roses.
