Chapter 633 Going Up the Mountain

Li Daxing returned to the yard with his two daughters and kicked over a basin of water.

The frozen block of ice slammed into the ground, creating a crater.

Everyone was on edge, and everyone wanted to walk as close to the corner as possible, afraid that Li Daxing would notice them.

Just then, the idiot rushed over.

"Daddy, did you bring me something delicious?"

"I want meat. You'll definitely find meat if you go into the mountains. Dad, I'm hungry."

Despite his earlier fury and murderous rage, Li Daxing immediately changed his expression and gently advised his son.

"We won't eat meat today. We'll wait until tomorrow. Dad will catch a pheasant for you, and we'll stew it with chicken."

Didn't you guys hear me?

Your brother says he's hungry, so why don't you hurry up and prepare some food? Let me tell you, I don't support idlers. You're all just trying to freeload at home; you're just waiting to starve to death!

Come up the mountain with me tomorrow. I refuse to believe that I haven't caught a single pheasant after setting so many traps.

I didn't see a single hair.

In this cold weather, how could pheasants and rabbits possibly avoid falling into traps?

I'm telling you all, you'll all come up the mountain with me tomorrow.

Xiao Guai shivered upon hearing this; her thin cotton-padded coat was nowhere near as cold in this place.

If we went up the mountain, we'd really freeze to death.

She already got badly beaten by the little idiot during the day; if this leads to another beating from the abusive man, things will get really out of control.

Xiao Guai didn't say anything. When it got dark, Xiao Guai was ordered to carry a foot bath and wash the little fool's feet.

Obviously, this job is usually done by the three sisters, and since there's an extra minor official today, they'll naturally try to shirk responsibility and claim that nothing has anything to do with them.

More importantly, they could tell during dinner today that Xiaoguai was very good at stir-frying shredded potatoes.

Before the three daughters could even eat it, the whole plate of shredded potatoes ended up in the stomachs of Li Daxing and the idiot.

Perhaps because the fool had eaten and drunk his fill, he was much more amiable towards Xiao Guai today.

At least they didn't lay a hand on him.

That basin of water was heavier than Xiao Guai.

She carried a large basin shakily into the house, and as soon as she entered, she felt the warmth of the room.

Xiao Guai immediately thought about where she would stay tonight, since she had been left in the pigsty yesterday.

He threw her into the haystack again. He was smelling terrible, and more importantly, he couldn't easily escape the consequences of what happened yesterday. He couldn't stay outside every day.

She caught a cold yesterday, but she was lucky she didn't get a fever and die.

It really has nothing to do with whether the Li family members are kind-hearted or not.

If I let myself sleep in the pigsty outside tonight, I'll definitely freeze to death.

However, this little fool's room isn't exactly clean either.

I took my things back; they were given to me by my mother, and they hold sentimental value in every way.

He never expected to run into this group of people here.

Clearly, the little fool had adapted very quickly to his childhood sweetheart bringing him water to wash his feet. He didn't even refuse, and sat comfortably on the edge of the kang (a heated brick bed) with his legs outstretched, waiting for Xiao Guai to bring the basin over.

She had figured out the little fool's temperament early this morning; the little fool was eccentric.

Moreover, he is the kind of person who is willful and reckless, probably because he was spoiled by his father.

He's used to having the final say at home, and like Li Daxing, he'll resort to physical violence at the drop of a hat, and he's especially ruthless.

But the reason why the little fool is called a little fool is because he is not very bright and cannot understand many things. He is basically like a three or four-year-old child.

Whatever you say goes.

Sure enough, Xiao Guai coaxed the little fool, and when night fell, the little fool let Xiao Guai sleep directly on his kang (heated brick bed).

Although I was sleeping in a corner at the foot of the kang (a heated brick bed), it was still much better than sleeping in a pigsty.

When people are well-fed, warm, and comfortable, they are more likely to develop feelings for others and also more likely to want to run away.

But she couldn't resist her son's demands.

The little fool was still quite satisfied with Xiao Guai, because Xiao Guai could entertain him, especially after Xiao Guai told him a fairy tale just now.

For a silly little boy who had never seen the outside world and whose mind was stuck at the age of three or four, Xiao Guai's fairy tales basically opened the door to another world for him.

The silly boy obediently listened, and the little darling huddled at the foot of the kang (heated brick bed).

She figured that if she went up the mountain with Li Dajun tomorrow, she should be able to see the road outside.

Whether or not we can escape depends on a single look; if we can't escape, we'll have to change our strategy.

In short, we can't be intimidated, and we also need to know how July is doing.

The next morning, before dawn, Xiao Guai was suddenly pulled up by someone.

Seeing Li Daxing put his finger to his lips in a shushing gesture, Xiao Guai immediately knew that Li Daxing was afraid of waking up his silly son.

Regardless of the circumstances, Li Daxing was a bad person, a vicious and ruthless one, but his love for his son was genuine.

Absolutely no discounts.

He can still be so devoted to his child who has obvious intellectual disabilities, and Li Daxing is such a wicked person.

She probably reserved the only bit of kindness in her heart for her son.

Xiao Guai, wearing a thin cotton-padded jacket, followed behind Li Daxing with a bitter face.

Li Daxing didn't even give her an extra piece of clothing, and she just followed the three people in front of her up the mountain.

Eight-year-old Yingyindi stayed at home to take care of her older brother.

Xiao Guai followed them out of the house, trembling almost constantly. When she saw the road outside, she understood for the first time that at least half of what Yin Di had said was true.

After the heavy snowfall here, the snow was almost half a person high.
