Chapter 154 Selling Boxed Lunch at the Dock

Upon hearing this, Yun Zhizhi's smile deepened, and she couldn't help but praise, "Rangrang is such a well-behaved and sensible child!"

After saying that, she turned around and took out a salt-baked chicken leg that she had specially reserved for He Yang from the plate, handed it to Fang Rangrang, and said with a smile, "Come on, Rangrang, let me treat you to a delicious chicken leg."

When Fang Rangrang saw the tempting-looking and fragrant chicken leg, her eyes lit up instantly. She was so excited that she almost jumped up. She quickly reached out and took the chicken leg, happily shouting, "Thank you, sister!"

After Yun Zhizhi turned and left, Fang Rangrang hurriedly held the big chicken leg to Fang Zheng's mouth, saying expectantly, "Grandfather, please try it!"

Fang Zheng looked down at the tempting yellow chicken leg in front of him, his mouth practically watering.

Without saying a word, he opened his mouth and took a big bite of the chicken leg.

"Mmm..." Fang Zheng mumbled between chewing the chicken in his mouth, "It's so delicious!"

This was the first time in his life he had tasted such uniquely delicious chicken.

The chicken skin has an attractive golden color and an incredibly crisp texture.

The chicken inside is tender and juicy; with a gentle bite, the juices flow down your chin.

It tastes rich and fragrant, and is not dry or greasy at all.

Just as Fang Zheng was happily preparing to take a second bite, Fang Rangrang became unhappy, pouting and muttering:

"Grandfather, don't just eat, hurry up and help with the work! We can't just eat and do nothing."

Upon hearing this, Fang Zheng suddenly realized what was going on.

No wonder this clever little devil was suddenly being so nice to me today; it turns out he dug a pit for me to fall into.

After coming out of the outhouse, He Yang jogged back to the kitchen.

He first carefully washed his hands clean, and then happily imagined that he would grab the plump chicken leg with his hands and enjoy it to his heart's content.

But when he excitedly walked to where the food was placed, he was surprised to find that the large chicken leg that had been on the plate had vanished.

"Who dares to steal my big chicken leg!"

He Yang's eyes widened as he anxiously looked around, searching.

Finally, he fixed his gaze on Fang Rangrang, who was gnawing on a chicken bone in the corner.

"Make way, why did you eat the big chicken leg that the boss specially saved for me?"

After wolfing down a whole chicken leg, Fang Rangrang licked his greasy lips, looking just like a little glutton who had just stolen a delicious treat.

With a look of lingering satisfaction on her face, she stared intently at the person in front of her and said, "This chicken leg was specially treated to me by Sister Zhizhi."

He Yang felt that he had fallen out of favor.

The eldest brother was clearly using the chicken leg meant for him to appease the little one.

Yun Zhizhi quickly changed into a clean and tidy set of clothes and walked lightly to the front yard.

However, as soon as she stepped into the courtyard, she noticed a mournful gaze fixed on her.

Following the line of sight, one could see He Yang standing not far away, arms crossed, brows slightly furrowed, his eyes revealing a hint of grievance and dissatisfaction.

A wave of guilt washed over Yun Zhizhi. She quickly walked to He Yang's side and said, "It was my fault. Don't be angry. I'll make it up to you with two big chicken legs tomorrow."

Upon hearing this, He Yang, who had been looking mournful, instantly lost his composure, and the corners of his mouth involuntarily turned up.

He nodded with feigned modesty and replied, "Alright, seeing how sincere you are, I'll let it go this time."

The items needed for setting up a stall include tables, benches, and custom-made plates specifically for serving food.

The wooden buckets containing hot rice and various dishes were already securely placed on the horse-drawn carriage or the rented oxcart.

After everything was ready, Yun Zhizhi led everyone onto the carriage and headed to the Haibei District dock to set up a stall and sell boxed lunches.

Just as the sun was high in the sky, noon had arrived.

At the dock, a group of construction workers were still working diligently at their respective posts.

Some were wielding hammers, some were carrying heavy objects, and others were squatting on the ground intently fiddling with tools. Everyone was drenched in sweat but completely unaware of it.

At this moment, Luo Han, who was building the wall, stopped what he was doing, straightened up, and wiped the sweat from his forehead.

He glanced casually at the open space in the distance, his gaze suddenly fixed, then he pointed in that direction and turned to his equally busy companion beside him, shouting, "Qin Hua, look over there!"

Hearing the shouts, Qin Hua looked up in confusion and followed the direction Luo Han was pointing.

In the distance, a large group of people had gathered in an open space. They stood in small groups, whispering to each other, seemingly discussing something important.

Seeing this, Qin Hua was so surprised that his mouth dropped open: "My God! Why are there so many people at the dock all of a sudden? What are they doing here?"

After frowning and thinking for a moment, Luo Han answered decisively, "I'm sure they're not here to admire the scenery, much less to see us greasy, disheveled men."

"Maybe there'll be some interesting things to see."

Just as the two were whispering to each other, the dock manager came over.

He glared at Luo Han and Qin Hua, and snapped, "What are you two whispering about here? Get to work! If you delay the project, I'll dock your pay!"

After saying that, he turned and left.
