Chapter 168 Country Bumpkin

The Xu residence.

Xu Junshen, the owner of Fuju Restaurant, was dressed in a moon-white long gown, his posture upright like a pine tree, and he was arranging the travel matters in an orderly manner.

At this moment, his maternal grandparents and his twelve-year-old cousin were already packed and standing at the door waiting to leave.

The three of them had just arrived in the capital from the distant Chu Prefecture last night.

Unfortunately, Xu Junshen's parents had to visit friends in Hezhou Prefecture and wouldn't be back until this evening.

Therefore, the important task of taking care of the family to dine out and tour the capital naturally fell on Xu Junshen's shoulders.

As two beautifully decorated carriages slowly drove past the Fuju Restaurant.

Jiang Lanzhi, the younger cousin who had been sitting in one of the carriages, constantly sticking his head out of the window to look around, suddenly let out a surprised shout:

"Cousin, weren't we supposed to be having lunch at Fujiu Restaurant? Why aren't we stopping now?"

Every year, when his family comes to Beijing to visit relatives, his uncle's family always warmly welcomes them and takes them to their own restaurant, Fujiu Restaurant, to enjoy delicious food.

It should be noted that Fuju Restaurant is one of the top restaurants in the entire capital, and its chefs possess superb culinary skills.

Therefore, this place has always been the first choice for entertaining distinguished guests and relatives and friends.

However, Xu Junshen's lips curled up slightly, revealing a mysterious smile: "This time, I plan to take you to taste that one-of-a-kind boxed lunch."

He then added, "You're in luck! This lunchbox only started selling a few days ago, and I heard the taste is absolutely amazing. It's quite popular in Beijing right now."

"If we had arrived even a little bit later, we might not have been able to buy them."

Hearing this, Jiang Lanzhi scratched his head in confusion and asked, "Cousin, have you already tasted this meal yourself?"

Xu Junshen shook his head: "Not yet."

After hearing this, Jiang Lanzhi couldn't help but feel uneasy.

He didn't take his cousin's words to heart.

My cousin probably just believed those exaggerated rumors circulating outside.

He simply didn't believe that this so-called boxed lunch could compare to the various delicacies carefully prepared by the chefs at Fuju Restaurant.

As the carriage gradually moved away from the bustling streets and slowly headed towards a quiet and secluded road, Jiang Lanzhi couldn't help but frown slightly and asked in confusion, "Cousin, where exactly are we going to get our boxed lunches?"

Xu Junshen replied calmly, "Haibei District Wharf."

"What!" Jiang Lanzhi exclaimed in astonishment.

Incredulously, he asked, "Cousin, are you saying that the place we're going to eat boxed lunches at is that dock where there aren't even any proper stalls, only street vendors?"

Xu Junshen nodded slightly: "Mm."

There are two docks in the capital.

However, he did not mention that the pier he was going to visit later was still under construction.

I really hope to see my little cousin's surprised look when he arrives at his destination!

Just thinking about it is incredibly interesting.

The thought of having a meal at a simple stall by the dock instantly dashed Jiang Lanzhi's initial excitement.

Also, for some reason, he felt that his cousin's expression just now was a little strange, as if he was hiding some unknown secret.

Early noon.

On the way to set up a stall at the Haibei District Wharf, Yun Zhizhi sat quietly in the carriage with her eyes closed, as if she was recuperating and resting.

Suddenly, Zhao Wu, who had been waiting outside the carriage, spoke softly: "Master, Zhao San just came to deliver a message saying that the docks are currently bustling with people."

"But don't worry, he has already arranged for a group of highly skilled guards to be stationed there on standby."

After a brief pause, he continued, "In the future, I will stay by your side at all times and do my best to protect your safety. Please rest assured, Master."

Upon hearing this, Yun Zhizhi slowly opened her bright eyes and softly replied, "Yes, thank you for your hard work."

Zhao San's actions must have been at Zhao Yunjin's behest.

It must be said that this man is truly thorough and meticulous in his considerations, taking all aspects into account.

Thinking of this, Yun Zhizhi couldn't help but smile at his thoughtfulness.

A warm current welled up deep inside me, a feeling of immense comfort.

At this moment, Jiang Lanzhi, standing in the middle of the group, was still in a daze.

Two quarters of an hour earlier, he had hurriedly jumped off the carriage, and the scene before him shocked him.

On the uneven, muddy ground, a large group of construction workers were working diligently with their heads down and backs bent.

Not far away, on the open grassland, a large group of people had gathered, bustling about and creating quite a lively scene.

However, looking around, there wasn't a single stall in sight.

When all of this came into view, Jiang Lanzhi was so surprised that his eyes almost popped out of their sockets, and his mouth involuntarily opened wide, as if he could fit an egg inside.

His expression was exactly like that of a country bumpkin who had just come from a poor, remote area, as if he had never seen the world before.

Later, Jiang Lanzhi realized what had happened.

It turned out that my cousin had brought them to this dock, which was still under construction.

And so, in a daze, he was dragged here by his cousin and then obediently stood in line.
