Chapter 4 Side Story (Part 4): The Demon Hunter's IF Path (Part 1)...
The night was deep, the moon was dark, and the wind was strong.
The night watchman carried his gong, walking cautiously. Midnight had passed, and every household in Liulijing kept their doors and windows tightly shut, not letting in an inch of light. This place was notoriously remote and eerie; it was even less likely that anyone would light a lamp here.
Unfortunately, the moonlight is dim tonight, with hardly any stars to be seen, so how can it provide any illumination? The wind whistles softly, and the lone night watchman can only walk close to the wall, trying to find a sliver of security.
Suddenly, a strange noise came from the top of the wall, as if an invisible ghost had drifted by. Immediately afterward, a faint chill spread across his back, and the night watchman was so frightened that he collapsed to the ground. No matter how he tried to move, his legs wouldn't budge. The chill climbed up his neck, and just when he thought his life was in danger, the sound appeared again.
The crisp chirping of birds broke the deathly silence, and also shattered the previously frozen air.
It was just an owl... The heart that had jumped into his throat settled back down. He let out a sigh of relief, wiped the cold sweat from his forehead, and quickly left that awful place.
As he ran, he thought, "He's definitely not coming next time! Maybe those ghost stories are true..."
After the night watchman left, strange noises rang out several more times. Only when the footsteps completely disappeared and deathly silence once again enveloped the world did the "owl" on the wall reveal its true form.
Du Zhijin crouched on a locust tree growing along the wall, dressed in night clothes, with most of her face covered by a black cloth, only her bright eyes distinguishing her from the darkness. She jumped down from the tree, holding a sword in one hand and a demon in the other; upon closer inspection, one could see that the wounds on the demon's body were shaped exactly like the tip of the sword.
They are cunning, afraid of light, cannibalistic, and often appear in pairs.
She looked in the direction the night watchman had gone and clicked her tongue in annoyance.
I was careless; one got away.
After storing the wounded monster in his storage bag, Du Zhijin casually wiped the blood from his sword and leaped back onto the treetop. His view suddenly opened up; half of Liuli City was brightly lit, brighter than daytime, while the other half was utterly silent in the dead of night. Where the other monster would have escaped to was self-evident.
She closed her eyes, held her breath, and focused her mind, blocking out her five senses as if blocking out all external disturbances. In her "eyes," the vast city and its million inhabitants transformed into countless tiny dots, some bright and some dark, scattered freely like stars across the ground.
Suddenly, she opened her eyes wide, and the Awakening Moon Sword in her hand flew swiftly from its sheath in a certain direction, unstoppable. Yi Jiao sensed the danger coming from behind and let out a mournful cry, but just as she was about to succeed, a firework exploded in the sky, illuminating the night as if it were day.
Du Zhijin paused.
It's the fireworks of the Evil Suppression Division...
She glanced one last time at the direction Yi Jiao had fled, gritted her teeth, sheathed her sword, and retreated.
Liulijing, the Exorcism Bureau.
Evil spirits and monsters are rampant. In order to protect the peace of the world, the imperial court has joined forces with Dengxian Mountain to establish the Evil Suppression Office, where "law enforcers" are ordered to exorcise evil spirits.
Like civil and military officials, law enforcers also have ranks, divided into four levels according to their strength: "Blue, White, Vermilion, and Black," with Blue being the lowest and Black the highest. Among the tens of thousands of law enforcers in the entire Evil Suppression Division, there are only two Black-level enforcers.
Du Zhijin, therefore Zhang.
Du Zhijin's expression was not good the whole way. Yijiao was not a difficult monster to deal with, but it was good at running away. It would run away at the slightest sign of trouble. She patiently waited for three nights before she finally managed to catch two of them together. But just when she was about to succeed, she had to give up because of the fireworks that made them gather. No one would be happy in that situation.
Danpa was the first to notice that she was in a bad mood. She hadn't been in the capital for the past few months and was unaware of many things, so she quietly tugged at Mu Xiao's sleeve and asked in a low voice, "What's wrong with Senior Sister?"
Mu Xiao looked around and spoke to her in a low voice: "Senior Sister took on a mission three days ago. Looking like this... could it be that you didn't complete the mission?"
Danpa exclaimed in shock, "What? Could it be that there's a senior sister too...?" Before she could finish speaking, Mu Xiao quickly covered her mouth, "Oh no, stop talking! Senior sister is here!"
Inside the main hall of the Demon Suppression Bureau, everyone bowed to Du Zhijin as she entered. She nodded, walked to the only person who hadn't moved, and asked, "What happened?"
Therefore, Zhang's statement was concise and to the point: "Two demons were caught."
"Two demons?" Is this really worth notifying all law enforcers? Du Zhijin frowned and turned to Mu Xiao, who was the most well-informed, "Junior Sister Xiao, what do you say?"
Instantly, all eyes were on Mu Xiao, and Danpa became obedient, lowering her head and pretending to be mute.
Mu Xiao released her hand from Danpa, swallowed hard, and carefully said, "Uh... the thing is, didn't Elder Jun stop the Illusion Demon from annexing Wanze City? Several officials, including the Commander, believe that the Illusion Demon has accomplices, and the mastermind has not yet been found. The two captured today..." "Are the two captured today the mastermind?" she asked.
Mu Xiao choked, then shook her head honestly: "To be precise, it was one of them. When our people arrived, there were two demons at the scene, but as everyone knows, illusion demons can change their form... The only one who could be identified was Elder Jun, who was in seclusion, so the commander asked everyone to come over and see who could tell the difference."
After hearing her words, all the demon hunters present looked enlightened. But then someone suggested, "Why bother distinguishing them? Just kill them all together."
As soon as he finished speaking, a law enforcement officer who had seemed perfectly normal suddenly sprang up, tearing through the fabric with a pair of wings on his back, and a cold wind immediately swept up.
"What did you say! That demon didn't do anything wrong, why should we kill it too? Or do you think that every demon has to die?"
Seeing this, Danpa sighed helplessly. When the Evil Suppression Division was first established, the Immortal Elder had specifically instructed that anyone, human or demon, who was wholeheartedly devoted to good and made contributions could become a law enforcer. At that time, humans made up a small percentage of the division, and this rule was implemented relatively smoothly. The law enforcers worked well with the demons and didn't harbor hatred towards each other. However, as the number of humans increased and the number of demons decreased, their views began to waver. Some insisted that demons were all evil and unworthy to work with them. This situation worsened after the two Xuan-level cultivators became humans, spiraling out of control.
Du Zhijin had clearly considered this as well. This matter could not be handled hastily, otherwise the Zhenxie Division would be thrown into chaos.
Trouble arose from within. She and Gu Zhang exchanged a glance, both seeing worry in each other's eyes. Gu Zhang nodded to her, indicating that she would handle the matter outside. Du Zhijin then called Danpa and Mu Xiao to enter the dungeon without further hesitation.
The dungeon was heavily guarded, with not only law enforcers but also a small contingent of Imperial Guards, to prevent the Zhenxie Division from embezzling. On the way, Danpa and Muxiao explained the situation of the two demons to each other.
"It was found in Jinxi City, which is a very remote place, a hundred and eight thousand miles away from the capital. It would take a month to fly there on a sword. If Danpa hadn't discovered something was wrong when she went home to visit her family, that demon might have escaped."
Du Zhijin: "What kind of demon is it?"
Mu Xiao looked at Danpa, the one who brought the demon back. Danpa scratched her head and replied, "It's not clear yet, we only know that he made a living as a doctor after transforming into human form."
"Practicing medicine... he sounds like a good-natured person. If he's willing, we can try to bring him in later."
The Suppression Division is short-staffed, especially in the field of treatment. If this matter is resolved smoothly, it will prove that it has nothing to do with him, and Du Zhijin would be happy to have another colleague.
The premise is that the matter of the Illusion Demon has nothing to do with him.
They soon arrived at the cell where the two demons were imprisoned. She quickly glanced inside as the door opened and nodded in satisfaction.
No one used torture. The two demons were locked up separately, wearing the uniforms of the Evil Suppression Division. Although they looked slightly haggard, they were not in a sorry state.
There are two demons here, and she and Gu Zhang happen to be two people. Mu Xiao said that according to the commander and other adults, they are to each take care of one, and a decision will be made in seven days.
Since Zhang was not present, she chose first.
The two demons before him sat in chairs with their heads bowed. Standing, Du Zhijin could only see their identical long, jet-black hair. Danpa was right; the illusionary demons' transformations were indeed lifelike. Even with her cultivation level, she couldn't discern any difference.
It's a bit troublesome.
She held Xingyue down, her fingers tapping lightly on the cold blade of the sword, as if deep in thought. Mu Xiao and the others dared not disturb her, and the two demons had remained silent ever since they were taken out of the cell. For a moment, only a few soft breaths could be heard in the room.
After a long pause, Du Zhijin asked, "What...what are your names?"
"The painting should be seen."
Two identical voices rang out. Even though she had heard them many times, Danpa still couldn't help but sigh, they were so similar... Even the pauses and breaths were exactly the same. Could anyone really tell which one was real and which one was fake?
Du Zhijin couldn't hear her inner thoughts, so he couldn't answer her questions, but she still made her choice.
She suddenly reached out and pointed to the right, saying, "You, come with me."
Ying Jianhua thought he would be locked up in the dungeon for a year or two until the old man Jun, whom he could recognize, came out. He was already prepared when he learned that two law enforcers would be coming.
It's nothing more than the same old torture and forced confession methods. These people who call themselves "in charge of the law" are all equally despicable in private.
However, he did not expect that Du Zhijin would take him out of the dungeon so casually, without shackles on his wrists or chains around his ankles, as if he were being shown around the Zhenxie Division.
We deliberately let him lower his guard, then caught him after he escaped so we could convict him outright.
He thought he had seen through the Demon Suppression Division's conspiracy and was determined not to let her succeed. He said in a deep voice, "A dignified Xuan-level law enforcer doesn't even know the slightest bit of discipline?"
Du Zhijin turned around in surprise: "You know me?" After a pause, she smiled, "So I'm quite famous, even the monsters in Jinxi City know me."
Ying Jianhua: ...The question is whether or not one will become famous?
He took a deep breath, suppressing his anger, and proactively clenched his fists, offering them to her directly: "Handcuffs."
Hearing this, she was taken aback, then looked at him with a gaze that was half surprised and half curious. He felt uncomfortable under her gaze, and glared back coldly. Only then did she stop looking him over and explain, "We don't need that thing."
"Why?" Is it because they look down on him, thinking he can't run or is unable to run?
Du Zhijin blinked: "Didn't you just say that I'm a Xuan-level expert? No matter where you go, I can find you."
His heart tightened.
She spoke calmly, her tone as indifferent as if she were discussing the weather, which precisely reflected her true attitude.
The person in front of her was truly confident; if he dared to run, she could catch him and bring him back.
Seeing that he suddenly stopped reacting and lowered his eyes to stop looking at her, Du Zhijin wanted to liven up the atmosphere. After all, they would be spending the next seven days together, and it wouldn't be good if things were always so dull.
"Ahem, let me tell you the truth." She cleared her throat, her expression turning serious, and Ying Jianhua also straightened her posture.
He thought to himself, "As expected, the Suppression Division wouldn't let suspicious people go so easily. They must have some more hidden restraining magic weapons besides handcuffs."
Then he heard: "To be honest, I'm going to the market to buy vegetables later. Handcuffing you would be like taking you to an execution, which would make it harder for me to grab the vegetables."
The image should be: "..."
He couldn't help but wonder, what were the grading standards of the Evil Suppression Division? Was the person beside him truly a Xuan-level enforcer who struck fear into the hearts of demons?
A law enforcement officer who personally buys groceries?
No matter how turbulent his thoughts were, Du Zhijin still took him to the market. Liulijing had over a dozen markets of varying sizes; she went to a large one in the east of the city.
Buying groceries is obviously for cooking at home, so it's reasonable to assume that Du Zhijin lives near the east side of the city. But the Zhenxie Division is in the west side of the city; wouldn't the distance between them be too far?
He had neither the right nor the courage to ask the question, but Du Zhijin seemed to know what he was thinking and casually said, "It's better to keep your home away from the government office."
"Otherwise, I could smell Shangguan Wenshu's ink even while lying in bed,"
He couldn't help but sarcastically ask, "Du Zhilu has this kind of trouble too?" Isn't she one of only two Xuan-level experts? Is there anyone who dares to be superior to her?
Du Zhijin glanced at him, curious: "Do you have some misunderstanding about me? First you thought I had to handcuff you, then you asserted that I have absolute power in the company... Is someone slandering me to you?"
As soon as he finished speaking, Ying Jianhua regretted his carelessness and realized he had been tricked into revealing information. He was right to say that all crows are black! He made up his mind that no matter what she said next, he would pretend not to hear it and would never answer.
Seeing that he was pursing his lips tightly, looking like he didn't want to say anything more, Du Zhijin didn't press him for details. He continued picking and choosing among the vendors, as if what he had just said was just an unintentional remark.
He scoffed inwardly, "So cunning."
"Grandma, how much are the loofahs?"
The elderly woman with white hair slowly raised her head, her voice hoarse: "I'm about to close up shop, so I'll sell it to you cheap, two coins a stick."
"Alright." She lifted the hem of her robe, squatted down, carefully selected three loofahs, and gave them a string of copper coins. The two left the old woman's loofah stall. Du Zhijin continued walking at a leisurely pace, and as they passed the pork shop, she asked him, "Dr. Ying, what would you like to eat for lunch? Meat?"
His surname was Ying, and according to Danpa, he was a doctor. Du Zhijin simply called him "Doctor Ying" when they were out. She said it casually, but she didn't expect that this address would evoke some memories for Ying Jianhua, making him feel dazed.
A moment later, he brought up something completely unrelated: "...You overpaid for the loofah. When we first came in, there was a stall where loofahs only cost one coin each."
The old woman clearly saw that Du Zhijin was dressed well and wanted to swindle him. Unfortunately, she was also a fool with plenty of money and believed whatever others said.
Du Zhijin shook his head after hearing this, his tone indifferent: "It is indeed expensive. But that old woman only has herself and her seriously ill granddaughter at home, and she can only make a living by selling vegetables every day."
After saying that, she looked at him, who had suddenly fallen silent, and asked, "Doctors are benevolent, Dr. Ying, you used to often pay for patients' expenses out of your own pocket, didn't you?"
Seeing the portrait, Yingjian realized he had been stabbed. He took two steps back to create distance between himself and the woman, his eyes instantly turning cold: "You brought me here just so I could see that old woman?"
If he truly "should see the painting," he should have followed her lead and inquired about his "granddaughter's" illness, and might even have been taken there for treatment...
Why should I treat someone who is completely unrelated to me?
Hearing his words, she couldn't help but sigh, which Ying Jianhua interpreted as a sign that her scheme had failed.
Du Zhijin opened his mouth, perhaps realizing that no matter what he said, Du Zhijin wouldn't believe him, so he simply gave up explaining: "Think what you want, but I really came here to buy groceries... Never mind, let's go back after we finish cutting the ribs."
"Heh." Ying Jianhua stared at her warily and said, "I knew it. None of you are any good."
Du Zhijin was right; she went home after buying groceries. Contrary to Ying Jianhua's imagination, her residence was not a magnificent and extravagant mansion, but a rather simple courtyard.
The red paint on the pillars was peeling, and the two lanterns under the eaves looked like they hadn't been replaced for many years, covered in dust.
No matter how you look at it, they are just an ordinary family in Liulijing.
Noticing the fleeting surprise on his face, Du Zhijin shrugged without explaining, and pushed open the door, saying, "Come in."
He hesitated, stepping forward with one leg, his eyes fixed on her expression, ready to pull back at the slightest sign of trouble. Suddenly, the wind howled past his ears, and something brushed against his calf. He instinctively thought it was a sword and hurriedly dodged, only to hear a soft laugh.
Looking down, a fallen leaf swirled at my feet. Looking up, I saw Du Zhijin smiling.
Ying Jianhua immediately realized she was being laughed at, her face flushed red, and she gritted her teeth in resentment. Leaning against the door frame, she held the culprit, a fallen leaf, in her hand: "I won't take any action until I've confirmed your identities, so don't be so reserved."
"snort."
She was met with a cold snort.
She didn't care and turned to go into the kitchen. Ying Jianhua stood in the yard for a while and noticed that Du Zhijin's house was even smaller than it looked from the outside, with only two rooms in total: a kitchen and woodshed, and even the dining table was set up in the yard. The remaining room must be her bedroom. So the question was, where would he sleep at night? On the floor?
He showed no awareness of being a "prisoner" and was about to question them when a spatula was shoved into his hand as soon as he entered the kitchen: "Do you even know how to watch the heat?"
He paused for a moment, then nodded instinctively. Du Zhijin then entrusted the kitchen to him with peace of mind, explaining before leaving, "The neighbor's cat is missing; I'm going to look for it."
The cat is lost?
Ying Jianhua frowned slightly.
What business is it of hers if the cat is lost? And what makes her think he will obediently watch the fire just because she tells him to?
He refused.
Aunt Yuan's cat is a one-year-old calico. It loves to climb walls and roofs and gets lost every few days, much to the dismay of Aunt Yuan's son, Xiao Bao. Usually, when Du Zhijin is home, she helps look for the cat, repeatedly pulling it out of corners by the scruff of its neck and returning it to its owner. But perhaps because of her deep-seated resentment towards the cat, the moment Du Zhijin approaches, the cat bristles, its claws digging into the moss beneath it, hissing angrily.
"Ah Hu!" Yuan Xiaobao cried out desperately from the side, fearing that if he didn't look closely, Ah Hu would fall into the ditch. Du Zhijin was also thinking about how to catch the cat safely.
Since he was afraid of her, she pretended to leave, waiting for Ah Hu to lower his guard before launching a surprise attack.
An idea popped into her head. Without even saying goodbye to Yuan Xiaobao, she vanished from the ditch in an instant. Yuan Xiaobao was taken aback. He squatted down and opened his arms to Sanhua, who was standing on the crossbeam, sniffling as he coaxed, "Ahu, come back with me. From now on, if Mom fries fish again, I won't eat a single bite. You can have it all!"
Yuan Xiaobao's face immediately fell, filled with anxiety. Suddenly, a dark shadow flashed across the water. Before he could see who it was, Ah Hu reacted first. Before Du Zhijin could touch it, it angrily swung its front paws to attack, losing its balance and plunging headfirst into the water.
"Ah Hu!!!"
As Yuan Xiaobao screamed in terror, Du Zhijin swiftly scooped up Sanhua and placed her on the ground.
She breathed a sigh of relief, thinking that at least it only wet the fur on her hind legs.
Seeing this, Yuan Xiaobao quickly stepped forward and hugged it. After a moment, the trembling tiger sensed that there was no danger around, lifted its head from its owner's arms, and once again had the idea of "escaping." Taking advantage of Du Zhijin's inattention, it jumped up, howled, and rushed over, scratching her hard with its claws as she turned around.
She groaned, having lost the initiative due to the brief pause, and could only watch helplessly as Ah Hu and Tao Zhiyao fled. Ignoring her wounds, she and Yuan Xiaobao blocked the cat from the front and back, forcing it to stop its escape.
While wiping away her tears, Yuan Xiaobao angrily accused her cat: "You, you actually dared to hurt someone! Wait till we get home and see how my mother deals with you!"
However, Sanhua ignored its owner's cries and stared intently at Du Zhijin, who returned the stare. The two, human and cat, locked eyes, neither giving way, and remained locked in this stalemate, interspersed with Yuan Xiaobao's intermittent sobs.
If Ah Hu were a demon, Du Zhijin would have a thousand and one ways to capture him. But he was just an ordinary little cat, and no matter how ruthless her methods, she couldn't use them.
Just as she was at her wit's end, a male voice sounded from behind her: "Ah Hu."
The two people and the cat turned around at the same time. She was surprised to see Ying Jianhua appear.
He had been watching for an unknown amount of time, then half-squatted down, spread out one hand, and continued to call out, "Ah Hu, come here."
So, to the astonishment of the two men, Ah Hu walked briskly toward him, even affectionately rubbing his palm and purring sweetly.
Du Zhijin:? !
Ying Jianhua reached out and skillfully stroked the calico cat's fur gently, his fingertips moving softly and rhythmically. Once Ah Hu in his arms gradually relaxed his tense body, his slightly hunched back slowly straightening, and he no longer showed any aggression, he carefully picked up the cat and turned to hand it back to the little boy who was watching expectantly.
Finally, he reminded her, "Keep a close eye on it, don't lose it again."
"Mmm!" Yuan Xiaobao nodded repeatedly, looking at him with the admiration of a god descending to earth. He felt slightly uncomfortable, just then Du Zhijin walked over, and his attention was instantly drawn to the wound on her face.
It wasn't deep, but it was still bleeding; it was clearly scratched by the cat earlier.
She seemed completely oblivious to the pain. After saying goodbye to Yuan Xiaobao, she turned around and saw him frowning at her. He asked suspiciously, "Is something wrong?"
The painting shows the artist's lowered eyes.
What does her injury have to do with him? This little bit of blood won't kill her.
"It's nothing," he said curtly, leaving her with a cold back view. Although Du Zhijin was a little confused, she still followed him back into the house.
Pushing open the door, the courtyard was filled with a delicious aroma. Two dishes and a soup were served, looking and smelling wonderful, much better than what she could cook herself. She couldn't help but exclaim, "Dr. Ying, if you weren't a doctor, you could make a fortune as a cook."
She spoke the truth, but when it reached the ears of Ying Jianhua, a demon who harbored prejudice against her, it took on a different meaning.
He didn't eat much and never touched the dish in front of her. After hearing her words, he curled his lips into a mocking smile and said, "Du Zhilu could also consider changing careers, such as selling pickled vegetables."
"Selling pickled vegetables?"
She read it aloud, not understanding why, but received no answer. She only saw that Ying Jianhua, in a good mood, picked up two more pieces of food after saying that, but even so, he still ate very little, and almost half of the food on the table ended up in her mouth.
After finishing his meal, he subconsciously got up to clear the dishes, only to see Du Zhijin quickly stack the empty plates together and take them to the well to start washing them.
Watching her practiced movements, he belatedly realized that she wasn't putting on an act for him; she really did live here, leading a simple and frugal life.
But this was different from what he remembered. People in her high position were usually waited on hand and foot, never lifting a finger. But Du Zhijin... considering that she had helped the neighbor catch a cat earlier and had given the old woman extra money that morning, he had to overturn his previous prejudices.
Maybe she's a good person?
Thinking of this, Du Zhijin's facial wound suddenly became unbearable. He pursed his lips, seemingly struggling with the thought, but finally stood up and walked towards her, saying, "The wound must not get wet."
Upon hearing this, she paused, looked up at him in confusion, and said, "I'm not injured."
Did you accidentally hurt yourself while chasing Yi Jiao last night?
Before she could come to a conclusion, he pointed to her cheek and said, "It was scratched by a cat."
Oh, it's a cat.
She waved her hand to indicate that she was fine: "It's just a small wound, it should have healed by the end of the party."
It wasn't that she was exaggerating; after all, she was a cultivator, and her physical condition was far superior to that of ordinary people. She wouldn't be bothered by a cat's scratch, or even by a real tiger's claw. Of course, she wouldn't allow herself to fall into that situation.
However, her words seemed to have touched on some taboo of the doctor, and Ying Jianhua's gaze towards her changed instantly, becoming... fierce with a hint of resentment?
"Don't you know that you can get rabies from being bitten by a cat or dog?" When it came to his professional field, his tone became somewhat urgent, with an unyielding firmness. Du Zhijin had no choice but to listen to him, abandoning the dishes she was washing halfway through, sitting on the stone chair, and holding her face in her hands as he examined her.
As she said, the wound was indeed healing quickly and had stopped bleeding, although the flesh inside was still faintly visible. However, he was not completely at ease.
Rabies is extremely rare; once it develops, it's almost impossible to cure, and prevention is the only option... He wasn't sure if Du Zhijin's constitution could withstand it, so after a moment's thought, he said, "No, we still need to apply the medicine. Where's the nearest pharmacy?"
She gave him an address, and Ying Jianhua nodded, instructing him, "Stay here and don't move. I'll go get the medicine."
Du Zhijin didn't speak, watching his figure disappear behind the door. She could have chased after him, but she didn't.
She wondered if he would take this opportunity to escape.
Ying Jianhua did have this thought in his mind, but not before he left, but after he got the medicine.
He carried the medicine, the warm sunlight shining on his face, a sign that summer was just around the corner.
Spring is bright and summer is in full bloom, but if he is still a convict, he is destined not to see the extraordinary scenery to come.
At this moment, he was completely unrestrained, surrounded by a bustling crowd, and could easily blend in and escape without anyone noticing.
Should we run away?
He gripped the thin rope binding the medicine bag tightly.
In the courtyard, Du Zhijin glanced at the sky. Half an hour had passed, enough time to run to the pharmacy in the east of the city.
So, she was wrong after all?
She sighed dejectedly, placed her hand on the scabbard of Xingyue's sword, and prepared to go out.
However, as soon as she opened the door, she bumped right into the person outside.
Their eyes met, and she was stunned:
"You didn't run away?"
