Chapter 108 Heartbroken

Chapter 108 Heartbroken

In the bedroom of the old house, the curtains were drawn tightly, letting in only a faint ray of light.

Wei Wuxian lay in bed, his brow furrowed, his forehead covered in sweat. He seemed to be having a nightmare, mumbling "Si Zhui" and "Don't hit him" over and over, his hands pawing at the air, as if trying to grab something.

Lan Wangji, who was standing by the bed, held his hand, his fingertips cold: "Wei Ying, wake up, I'm here."

Wei Wuxian's eyes snapped open, his chest heaving violently. His gaze vacillated for a few seconds before focusing. He looked at Lan Wangji, his Adam's apple rolling, his voice hoarse and unremarkable: "Si Zhui... How's Si Zhui?"

"Still searching." Lan Wangji spoke softly, afraid to upset him. "Wen Ning has already led people to search the outskirts of the city. He'll notify us immediately if he has any news."

Wei Wuxian sat up and was about to get out of bed when Lan Wangji held him down: "You're not well yet, lie down a little longer."

“I can’t lie down!” Wei Wuxian shook off his hand, his eyes red. “I just dreamed about Sizhui… I dreamed that he was beaten and cried miserably… He called me daddy, but I couldn’t catch him…”

He clutched his chest and gasped in pain: "Lan Zhan, my heart hurts... It feels like being pricked by needles, again and again..."

The cramps weren't physical, but radiated from deep within his heart, sharp and intense, as if he could sense the pain Sizhui was enduring. He and Sizhui were connected by blood, and the burning pain of separation, the feeling of a child's suffering, nearly tore him apart.

"He'll be fine." Lan Wangji pulled him into his arms and patted his back gently. "Si Zhui is very strong, just like you."

“What’s the point of being like me…” Wei Wuxian’s voice was filled with tears. “Only people like me would be schemed against, only people like me would push themselves into desperate situations… Lan Zhan, I’m so scared, I’m scared that I won’t be able to find him…”

He'd never been so scared before. Back in the mass grave, he'd thought he'd lost everything, but he'd later learned that as long as you're alive, there's hope. But now, with Sizhui in someone else's hands, he didn't even know where the child was or what he was going through. This feeling of powerlessness was even more unbearable than being condemned by so many people.

"Trust me." Lan Wangji's voice was deep, yet filled with unquestionable strength. "I will definitely find him. You stay here and wait for news from me."

He stood up and picked up his coat. "I'm going to check on the outskirts of the city. Wen Ning might need some support."

Wei WuXian grabbed his wrist: "I'll go with you."

"you……"

“I’m fine.” Wei Wuxian interrupted him, his eyes filled with a determination bordering on paranoia. “I can’t just sit here and wait. I have to go find him. Even if there’s only a one in ten thousand chance, I’ll go.”

Lan Wangji looked at the red bloodshot eyes and pale face, and finally nodded: "Okay, let's go together."

He knew that if Wei WuXian didn't go looking for him personally, he wouldn't be able to sit still. Rather than suffering here, it would be better to act together. At least it would give him some peace of mind.

As soon as they reached the door, they saw Jin Ling and Lan Jingyi standing in the living room, their eyes red, obviously having heard their conversation.

"Uncle, Han Guang-jun, I want to go too!" Jin Ling clenched his fists. "Si Zhui was captured because of me. I can't wait here!"

"Let's go too! One more person means more strength!" Lan Jingyi also said.

Wei Wuxian looked at them and was about to refuse when Lan Wangji stopped him.

"Let them follow," Lan Wangji said, "They won't feel at ease if they stay here."

Wei WuXian was silent for a few seconds, then nodded. “But you must stay close to us. Don’t run around or act on your own. Do you understand?”

"I heard it!" The two children nodded immediately.

It was already dark when the car drove away from the old house. Wei Wuxian looked out the window at the night scene passing by, the pain in his chest still lingering, as if reminding him that Sizhui was suffering.

He pulled out his phone and flipped through Sizhui's photos. The young man in the photo was wearing a white shirt, standing in the sun and smiling, his eyebrows curved, clean and bright.

"Si Zhui, wait for Daddy. Daddy will come and save you." Wei Wuxian's voice was soft, but it was filled with unmistakable determination. "Anyone who dares to hurt a hair on your head will be repaid a thousandfold!"

Lan Wangji tightened his grip on the steering wheel, the coldness in his eyes almost overflowing.

Su She's son...

How could he have forgotten there was such a person? Back then, considering that he was young and Su She's only son, he didn't kill him completely, but only expelled him from Gusu. He never expected that he would end up raising a tiger to cause trouble.

If you dare to touch his children, you must be prepared to bear his wrath.

The car sped through the night, heading towards the outskirts of the city. The headlights cut through the darkness like two sharp knives, splitting the fog ahead.

Wei Wuxian looked ahead, with only one thought in his mind - to find Sizhui and bring him home.

No matter what the cost.
