Chapter 141 Concern for Heaven
After seeing Lan Sizhui off and watching the school bus disappear around the corner, the gentleness on Xie Lian's face instantly faded, leaving only a deep worry. He turned to look at Hua Cheng, his voice trembling with a barely perceptible tremor: "Sanlang, let's go to the Heavenly Palace."
Hua Cheng nodded and held his hand. The next second, the two figures turned into a stream of light and disappeared.
When he opened his eyes again, he was already in the side hall of the Golden Palace in Heaven.
The air was thick with the aroma of medicine. Wei Wuxian lay on the jade bed, his face as pale as a sheet, his lips bloodless, his breathing so weak that it was almost inaudible. Jun Wu sat beside him, continuously channeling spiritual energy into him, his brow furrowed, his expression solemn. Lan Wangji stood guard on the other side, holding Wei Wuxian's hand tightly, his eyes bloodshot, clearly having not slept all night.
"Ah Xian..." Xie Lian felt his heart tighten as he watched this scene, the pain so intense that he could barely breathe. He stumbled forward, his vision blacking out as his body fell backward uncontrollably.
"Brother!" Hua Cheng was quick to act and hugged him tightly, his voice filled with anxiety, "Don't scare me!"
Xie Lian leaned against his chest, his whole body trembling. He clutched at Hua Cheng's collar, his knuckles white from the effort, as if grasping at a lifeline. He raised his head, his eyes red, his voice choked and fragile: "Sanlang...brother...he'll be fine, right?"
He knew Wei Wuxian was seriously injured, but he hadn't imagined it would be this serious. That lifeless face made him more nervous than ever.
Hua Cheng hugged him tightly, using his body temperature to warm his cold body. His voice was low and firm: "It will be okay. Jun Wu is here, and I am here too. He will be fine."
He looked at Wei Wuxian lying on the jade bed, a fierce look flashing in his eyes. The drug backlash and the forced use of spiritual energy, this foolish boy, really didn't care about his life.
Jun Wu heard the noise, turned around and glanced at them, waving his hand to signal them to be quiet. He withdrew his hand, wiped the sweat from his forehead, and said in a deep voice, "His spiritual power has stabilized, but the damage is too severe. Whether he can hold on depends on his own will."
Lan Wangji looked up and said in a hoarse voice, "He will definitely get through this."
He knew Wei Wuxian's resilience better than anyone else. The man who could crawl out of the mass grave would never fall so easily.
Xie Lian, supported by Hua Cheng, slowly walked to the bedside. Looking at Wei Wuxian's pale, sleeping face, he couldn't hold back his tears. He reached out, wanting to touch his brother's cheek, but was afraid to disturb him. His hand paused in mid-air for a long time before gently dropping, his fingertips cold.
“Silly Ah Xian… why don’t you take care of yourself…” Xie Lian’s voice choked with sobs, “You promised Si Zhui that you would grow up with him… You can’t break your promise…”
Wei Wuxian seemed to have heard his words, and his long eyelashes trembled slightly, but he did not open his eyes.
Hua Cheng gently hugged Xie Lian from behind and whispered, "Let him rest well. We'll go out and wait."
Xie Lian nodded, looking back every few steps as he followed him out of the side hall.
In the corridor outside the palace, Xie Lian leaned against the railing, gazing at the distant sea of clouds, tears silently streaming down his face. Hua Cheng stood beside him, silently handing him a handkerchief, then put his arm around his shoulders and gave him a silent hug.
“It’s all my fault.” Xie Lian’s voice was muffled. “If only I hadn’t given him that medicine…”
"I don't blame you." Hua Cheng interrupted him, "He did it for Si Zhui. It was his own choice."
Xie Lian sniffed, his eyes filled with heartache, “But he’s in pain… You saw it just now, he was in so much pain that even his brows were furrowed…”
When he thought of Wei Wuxian forcing himself to smile in the amusement park, and how he almost collapsed in pain at night, his heart ached as if it were being stabbed by needles.
The younger brother who always smiled and said "I'm fine" took all the hardships on himself.
Hua Cheng said nothing, but simply tightened his arms around him, allowing him to lean more firmly against him. He knew how upset Xie Lian was, and knew that any words of comfort would be ineffective at that moment.
All they can do is wait.
Wait for Wei Wuxian to wake up on his own, wait for him to overcome this hurdle.
In the side hall, Jun Wu looked at the still unconscious Wei Wuxian and sighed softly. He reached out and touched Wei Wuxian's head, his gesture filled with unprecedented tenderness and guilt.
“Axian, wake up…” Jun Wu’s voice was low and hoarse, “Daddy knows you’re feeling bad, but you have to hold on… Sizhui is still waiting for you, Lan Wangji is waiting for you too…”
"If your mother saw you like this, she would be heartbroken..."
A tear slowly seeped out of the corner of Wei Wuxian's eye, slid down his cheek, and dripped onto the jade bed, leaving a small wet mark.
The sea of clouds in the heavenly palace was still churning, and the sunlight shone through the clouds, but it could not shine into the haze that shrouded the side hall and everyone's hearts.
Everyone is waiting.
Wait for the person who always smiles and says "I'm fine" to open his eyes again and say to them with a smile:
"I'm back."
