Chapter 45 The Time Has Not Come Yet

Chapter 45 The Time Has Not Come Yet

Amidst the swirling fog, a massive black shadow emerged from the depths of the ruins—a puppet constructed from the shattered remains of broken walls. Its eye sockets burned with faint green flames, and the ground shook with every step it took. Apparently startled by the red glow of the jade pendant, it swung its thick stone arms, sending countless rubble hurtling down upon the three of them.

"Be careful!" Lan Wangji shielded Wei Wuxian and Sizhui behind him. His Bichen sword flashed like a waterfall, instantly blocking the rubble, but the puppet's immense force knocked him back half a step. Wei Wuxian took the opportunity to blast his Chenqing flute, its sharp notes attempting to disrupt the puppet's movements. However, this puppet was no ordinary ferocious being. Its resentment was so solid that the flute's sound could barely penetrate it.

“This thing is alive!” Wei Wuxian said anxiously, “Its core is in the black stone in its chest!”

Before he could finish his words, the puppet's stone arm swept forward again, this time aiming for Si Zhui, who was hiding in the middle. Though terrified, Si Zhui clutched the talisman tightly in his hand, attempting to apply it to the puppet, but Wei Wuxian pulled it away. At this crucial moment, a dazzling golden light suddenly burst forth from the dense fog, like a meteor streaking through the darkness, striking the black stone on the puppet's chest with pinpoint accuracy!

With a crisp "crack" sound, the black stone shattered, and the huge body of the puppet collapsed instantly, turning into a pile of scattered stones.

The three of them were startled and looked up, only to see a slender figure standing in the thick fog. He was dressed in white and surrounded by a faint golden light. His face could not be seen clearly. In his hand was a long sword with an ancient shape. The sword body exuded a warm luster, which was obviously a magical weapon.

“Who are you?” Wei Wuxian asked, bowing. “Thank you for your help!”

The figure didn't turn around, but just turned his face slightly. His voice was as cold as the collision of jade and stone: "It's not suitable to stay here for long, leave now."

Lan Wangji took a step forward, his eyes fixed on the sword in his hand: "Sir, do you know anything about the past of the Jun family, or the origin of this jade pendant?" He held up the two pieces of the jade pendant, which shone slightly in the golden light of the magic weapon.

The man in white was silent for a moment, as if sizing them up, or hesitating about something. After a while, he said, "The time is not right yet."

As soon as he finished speaking, his figure transformed into a streak of golden light and vanished into the thick fog. The surrounding mist also began to dissipate, as if he had never appeared. Only a faint scent of sandalwood remained in the air, and the pile of rubble on the ground had not yet dispersed.

"Leaving now?" Wei WuXian stood there in a daze. "What do you mean the time is not right yet?"

Lan Wangji put away his Bichen and picked up the broken jade pendant. When the two pieces were put together, they formed the character "君" (Jun). The jade was smooth and warm, and the red glow gradually faded, returning to its original clarity. "This person possesses profound spiritual power and harbors no ill intentions." He looked at Wei Wuxian. "Since he said the time is not right, he must feel that he cannot reveal the truth just yet."

Si Zhui hugged Mu Yuan and whispered, "That person just now... looked like a priest."

Wei Wuxian stroked his chin. "Perhaps it's true. Nie Huaisang mentioned 'The Broken Jade Leads the Priests.' It seems this jade pendant is indeed connected to ascending to the Heavenly Palace." He glanced at the gradually clearing sky. "Anyway, let's get out of here first."

The three of them didn't dare delay and headed down the mountain the same way they'd come. Along the way, Wei Wuxian repeatedly looked at the intact jade pendant, feeling that the voice of the man in white was familiar, yet he couldn't place where he'd heard it. Lan Wangji, on the other hand, seemed lost in thought. The aura of the divine weapon seemed somewhat similar to the legendary sword of a certain ancient priest.

Si Zhui walked in the middle, holding Wei Wuxian with one hand and Lan Wangji with the other, feeling both thrilled and excited. Although he hadn't uncovered the Jun family's secret, he had witnessed a true divine weapon and learned that his father's mother might be involved in all this.

As they left Junwu Mountain, Wei Wuxian glanced back, only to see the mountain once again shrouded in a faint mist, regaining the mysterious allure of a forbidden area. He clutched the jade pendant tightly in his arms and suddenly smiled, "What? You said it's not here yet, so it's not here yet. Humph, if the time isn't right, then it isn't. One day, I'll figure it out."

Lan Wangji held his hand and nodded gently. He gave the people around him a great sense of security and comfort. Wei Wuxian looked at his husband and son beside him, "Let's go, let's go home."

Sunlight streamed through the clouds, landing on the three of them with a warmth and comfort. Sizhui looked at his father's clasped hands, then at the wooden kite in his arms. He suddenly felt that the secrets hidden in the years, the unsolved mysteries, might not be important. What mattered was that they were together now, able to face all the hardships together, waiting for that "moment" to arrive.

The sudden appearance of the magic weapon and the words "the time has not yet come" were like a stone thrown into a lake, creating ripples in their hearts, foreshadowing a past that was about to be revealed, quietly approaching them.
