Chapter 93 Melting Heart

Chapter 93 Melting Heart

The next morning, Wei Wuxian was awakened by being tickled. He opened his eyes to see Sizhui gently poking his cheek with his fingertips, a mischievous smile in his eyes, his hand still firmly grasping the corner of his shirt, not letting go at all.

“Awake?” Wei WuXian smiled and pinched his face. “Did you dare to tease your father?”

Si Zhui stuck out his tongue and shrank into his arms: "Who told you to sleep so soundly?"

Lan Wangji had already gotten up and walked in with warm water. Seeing the two of them arguing, a faint smile appeared in his eyes: "Get up and wash up when you wake up. I made pumpkin porridge for breakfast."

Si Zhui's eyes lit up when he heard the words "pumpkin porridge," and he finally let go of Wei Wuxian's shirt. As he got out of bed, he subconsciously took his hand. Wei Wuxian let him hold his hand, and the warmth of the young man's palm reached his fingertips, a warm, slightly damp feeling of sweat—a sign of peace of mind.

At the breakfast table, Si Zhui held a bowl of pumpkin porridge, sipping it sweetly. Wei Wu Xian sat beside him, occasionally helping him with a piece of vegetable. "Drink slowly, no one's going to snatch it from you."

Lan Jingyi came over and said, "Sizhui, shall we go to the yard to fly a kite this afternoon? I just bought a phoenix-shaped one, it's so beautiful."

Si Zhui hesitated for a moment and looked at Wei Wuxian.

“If you want to go, go.” Wei WuXian ruffled his hair. “After flying the kite, come back and do your homework. You can do both.”

Si Zhui then nodded, with a slight smile on his face.

The afternoon sun was bright, and the wind in the yard was neither too strong nor too weak, perfect for kite flying. Lan Jingyi ran around with the kite for several laps, and the phoenix kite finally took off, spreading its wings against the blue sky, attracting Jin Ling to join in.

Si Zhui stood in the corridor and watched. At first, he just smiled quietly. Later, Lan Jingyi pulled him to run two steps. When the kite string was passed to him, he was stunned for a moment, then he held the spool tightly, watching the kite fly higher and higher, and his eyes gradually lit up.

Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji stood at the door and watched. Wei Wuxian suddenly said, "Look how happy he is smiling. He was so listless this morning."

"Children's emotions come and go quickly." Lan Wangji's gaze fell on Si Zhui's running back. "As long as there is someone by his side, the fear will gradually fade away."

Wei Wuxian turned to look at him, meeting his gentle gaze. A sudden warmth welled up in his heart. He remembered how he had been in the same situation when he first traveled to the modern era, filled with fear of the unfamiliar world. It was Lan Wangji who had guided him step by step to adapt and given him a shoulder to lean on.

It turns out that dependence is contagious, and so is a sense of security.

When Sizhui was collecting the kite in the evening, the string left red marks on his fingertips, but he didn't care at all. He even said excitedly to Wei Wuxian, "Daddy, do you think I flew it high enough?"

"High, even higher than Jingyi's." Wei Wuxian praised him with a smile, taking out a Band-Aid and applying it to his fingertip. "Be more careful next time, don't pinch your hand."

Sizhui nodded, then suddenly remembered something and whispered, "We're going to the hospital on Thursday... Can I bring the kite string with me?"

Wei Wuxian was stunned for a moment, then he understood - he wanted to grab something familiar to give himself courage.

“Of course.” Wei Wuxian nodded. “You can bring whatever you want, even Lan Jingyi’s phoenix kite.”

Lan Jingyi immediately responded: "No problem! I'll lend you my Phoenix kite and let it cheer you up!"

Si Zhui was amused, and the fear in his eyes faded a lot, leaving only the anticipation of flying a kite next time.

Before going to bed that night, Sizhui sat at his desk writing in his diary. Wei Wuxian leaned over to take a look. On the notebook was a drawing of a phoenix kite flying in the sky, with the words "I'm very happy today. The kite is flying high. I'm going to the hospital on Thursday. I must be as brave as flying a kite."

Wei Wuxian's eyes suddenly felt warm. He patted Sizhui's head and said, "Our Sizhui has grown up."

Si Zhui raised his head, looked at him and smiled: "Because Daddy and Father are here."

Yes, because we have each other. Wei Wuxian muttered to himself, and suddenly felt that those days when he needed to go to the hospital every week, those bland meals that he had to avoid, and those little fears hidden in his heart, all became less scary with the company of his family.

Just like now, the moonlight outside the window is just right, my lover is by my side, and the children's laughter is still echoing in the yard. The little bumps in life are just seasonings to embellish happiness.

Sizhui finished writing in his diary and put the notebook in the drawer. He subconsciously glanced at the corner of Wei Wuxian's clothes again, but this time he didn't reach out to grab it. He knew that his father wouldn't leave, and his father wouldn't leave either. They would always be here, waiting for him, accompanying him, until the day he no longer needed to rely on the corner of his clothes for courage.

And that day will definitely not be too far away.
