Chapter 150 The Ghost King's Tenderness
As the night deepened, the only sound in the living room was the rustling sound of Lan Sizhui copying the family rules.
He knelt on the futon, his small body swaying several times, his eyelids heavy as if filled with lead. When he came to the line "Those who stay out overnight without reason will be punished," his pen suddenly stopped, his head lurched forward uncontrollably, and his forehead slammed lightly against the desk.
He woke up with a start, rubbed his eyes, looked at the half-copied house rules in front of him, and blinked hard, trying to wake himself up. But he was too sleepy. The rush and shock of the day had drained all his energy, and thinking about his father made him even more exhausted.
After a while, his head drooped again, this time he lay directly on the desk, still holding the brush tightly in his hand, and his breathing gradually became even.
The moonlight shone through the window lattice and fell on his tear-stained little face. His long eyelashes were like two small fans, so quiet that it was heartbreaking.
Hua Cheng walked in with a glass of water and saw this scene.
He paused, the coldness in his eyes instantly melting, leaving only a gentleness. This child, while a bit stubborn, truly knew he was wrong, otherwise he wouldn't have persisted in copying until now.
Hua Cheng walked over quietly, carefully took the brush from his hand, and placed it in the brush washer. Then he bent down and gently picked up Lan Sizhui.
The child was very light, and felt like a kitten in his arms. Perhaps he sensed a familiar scent, so he rubbed against Hua Cheng's arms and mumbled something, as if he was talking in his sleep. If you listened carefully, you could vaguely make out the word "Daddy".
Hua Cheng's movements became lighter. He lowered his head to look at the sleeping little face in his arms, and his heart suddenly softened.
This child is so much like Ah Xian when he was a child, just as stubborn, just as loyal, and just as... makes people want to cherish him.
He carried Lan Sizhui and walked gently into the room, placing him on the bed and covering him with the quilt. As he tucked in the quilt, his fingertips accidentally touched the child's knee, which felt icy cold.
Hua Cheng frowned, turned around and went to the bathroom to wring out a hot towel, then came back and gently placed it on Lan Sizhui's knees.
The child probably felt comfortable, and hummed in his dream, with the corners of his mouth slightly raised, as if he was dreaming of something happy.
Hua Cheng looked at him, smiled silently, withdrew his hand, turned around, gently closed the door, and walked out.
In the living room, Xie Lian was still waiting. Seeing Hua Cheng come out, he whispered, "Falling asleep?"
"Yeah." Hua Cheng nodded and walked over to sit next to him. "I copied less than half of it and fell asleep because I was tired."
“This kid is quite stubborn.” Xie Lian sighed, his eyes filled with heartache. “Her knees must be red from kneeling, right?”
"Well, I applied a hot towel."
The two sat in silence for a while, the only sound in the living room being the sound of the wind outside the window.
“Should I tell Ah Xian tomorrow?” Xie Lian suddenly spoke, hesitant. “I’m afraid he’ll worry again.”
Hua Cheng thought about it and shook his head: "No need. Wait until he wakes up and let him finish copying it himself. It's a rule to keep your word."
After a pause, he added: "However, you can tell him that Sizhui is very well behaved and knows he is wrong."
Xie Lian smiled and nodded, "Okay."
The night grew darker, and Yunshen Pavilion was so quiet that only the sound of each other's breathing could be heard.
In the room, Lan Sizhui was sleeping soundly. Perhaps because he knew that he was safe and that his father was fine, he felt peaceful in his dreams.
Meanwhile, in the side hall of the Upper Heavenly Palace, Wei Wuxian also fell into a deep sleep accompanied by Lan Wangji. Perhaps receiving some kind of telepathic connection, his brows relaxed completely, and a faint smile appeared at the corners of his mouth.
Whether on earth or in heaven, peace finally returned to this night.
The panic, worry and anger during the day gradually settled down in the tenderness of the night and turned into a deeper concern for each other.
I just hope that the day will get brighter soon, that the person who has touched everyone's heart can recover soon, and that this family can be reunited soon.
