Chapter 52: The Scheme of Self-Torture
"Xiao...Bai..." she said in disbelief and walked towards the door.
The dog came over enthusiastically and circled her several times.
Xiaobai had never been so enthusiastic towards her before, which made her flattered and she couldn't help but reach out to touch it.
"Sister thinks so too, it looks a lot like that dog..."
The moment Jiang Li touched the warm fur, Yun Si's voice came.
Her hands froze.
It was not Xiaobai. She looked at it carefully again and saw the dog wagging its tail and sticking out its tongue at her.
Inexplicably, I feel a little lost.
"How's it going?" Yun Si walked closer, completely ignoring the dog. "I'll find anything you like."
Why didn’t Yun Si just grab Xiaobai directly?
Because he hated it, hated Jiang Li's care and concern for it, and was even more afraid that he was not as important as a dog...
Jiang Li didn't look up, looking at the dog in front of him with indescribable feeling in his heart.
Seeing Jiang Li remained silent, he deliberately said, "Sister, don't you want to give it a name?"
In the end, she just asked blankly: "Why?"
Why find a dog that looks exactly like Xiaobai?
"Don't you like that dog?"
"I don't like it." She said and stood up to leave.
"Since my sister doesn't like it." Yun Si glanced at the dog, grabbed the dog's paw with one hand and lifted it up.
"Woo!" the dog let out a wail.
The scream made Jiang Li's heart twitch, and she turned around to look.
Yun Si's face was expressionless, and even the movements of his hands were as if he was holding a dead object. He didn't say anything else, but his movements made Jiang Li unconsciously worried.
She demanded, "What are you going to do?"
"Don't you like it? Why do you care about it?" Yun Si moved his hands again, and the dog howled again.
Jiang Li tried hard to suppress his frown and said coldly, "Whatever you say."
But after she said it, she felt a little regretful for some reason.
Yun Si caught the flash of pity in her eyes, chuckled, and then let go of her hand.
The puppy barked twice more, but the sound was no longer shrill.
Jiang Li breathed a sigh of relief calmly: "What exactly are you going to do?"
"Of course, to please my sister." Yun Si said with a smile, but there was clearly no tenderness in his eyes.
This is not flattery at all, it is clearly coercion and threat!
Yun Si reached out a hand and gently stroked the dog lying on the ground. The dog was completely motionless, ears pressed back, as if afraid of something.
Terror, fear, and caution were all fully reflected in it.
Jiang Li suddenly stood up and walked over, pushing Yun Si's hand away: "Dog, I like it very much."
Yun Si touched the palm of his hand and smiled faintly: "As long as sister likes it."
Jiang Li didn't like the dog because it was cowardly and timid.
The dog should have bitten Yun Si and let him know that he was not easy to bully.
Apparently, Yun Si didn't think too much about it and even asked with a smile, "What do you want to name it?"
"Wind." She moved her lips and teeth, and finally uttered this word.
"Okay, from now on when I'm not around, you can ask it to stay with you." He reached out and touched Jiang Li's cheek, then stood up and left.
Jiang Li stood there in a daze, and was finally brought back to his senses by the barking of a dog.
Wind, like the wind...
She reached out to touch the dog, touching its soft fur and feeling the warmth. No one stopped her, no one interrupted her...
It should feel the same as Xiaobai, right?
They look really alike, but Xiaobai is a little luckier.
The puppy seemed to like her very much and would rub its face gently against the palm of her hand.
"Afeng."
She closed her eyes tightly, feeling the furry touch between her hands, as if there was really wind blowing...
Yun Si seemed really busy. After sending the dog to her, he didn't even have time to eat lunch. Jiang Li also guessed that Yun Si was busy with Miaojiang affairs.
But she didn't want to interfere too much, nor did she want to cause any more trouble.
Now, she was forced to rely on others for her own life, let alone anything else. In the past, she always wanted to escape, but she was always found. After going through so much, she understood one thing: God arranged this for a purpose: to let her solve problems, not escape them.
One day, she and Yun Si fought to the death, and she would be free no matter what.
She is naturally happy when she is alive.
Now that she is dead, she is free from all restraints.
She played with Afeng for the entire afternoon, and at dinner time, Yun Si and Wan Shan came in at the same time. He had a dark face and threw Afeng out coldly.
Afeng seemed unwilling to see Yun Si, and did not call out when he left the house.
Jiang Li looked at him and asked, "It's still raining outside, do you want to let it get wet?"
Yun Si sneered and deliberately shook his clothes: "I've been gone for a whole day, sister, don't you care about me?"
Jiang Li glanced up and down: "He's not dead, he's alive and well."
Yun Si twitched his lips and rubbed Jiang Li's face with his sleeve: "I'm soaked all over."
Jiang Li's face turned cold, and he said in disgust, "Get out of the way!"
"I'm not as important as a dog?"
Jiang Li reached out and wiped his face: "Next time, wear light-colored clothes. Maybe I'll notice you're wet."
"If I find out, will my sister even care about me?"
"No." Jiang Li sat on the stool and picked up a pair of chopsticks.
Yun Si was not surprised at all, he undid his coat and took it off, then sat down and started eating dinner.
He was hungry all day and had no food to eat.
After he had taken several bites of the meal, Jiang Li said, "So you're hungry too?"
He is a human being, of course he gets hungry.
She knew Jiang Li was talking about him because he almost always watched Jiang Li eat.
"Of course, after all, Sister Ali is a beauty to behold."
"When will you let Afeng in?" Jiang Li asked this question to test Yun Si's attitude.
Unexpectedly, Yun Si seemed to have been touched on a sore spot and immediately put down his chopsticks: "Why did you put it in? Can't you bear it after being away for just a short while?"
"What are you crazy about? It's raining so hard outside, it will get soaked and frozen to death!"
Yun Si looked at her as if he were looking at a stranger, puzzled and confused: "What about me?"
Jiang Li was puzzled: "Why are you competing with a dog?"
"Because you care about even a dog! Even a dog you've only known for an afternoon! Ximen Yueyao, that dog named Xiaobai, you care about everyone...but me, you never give me a bit of your sincerity!" Yun Si's eyes gradually darkened. "Jiang Li, why? Why can everyone get it, why can't I?"
Jiang Li stood there in a daze, his throat seemed to be blocked by something and he couldn't make a sound.
She had long been accustomed to facing him with hatred, so accustomed to it that she had almost forgotten other emotions. Over the long years, hatred seemed to have become the only emotion that could be safely expressed, protecting her and also trapping her.
Yun Si said coldly, "I won't let it in. If it dies in the rain, I can only blame myself for being weak."
"Are you sick?" Jiang Li stood up suddenly. "You were the one who gave Ah Feng to me. You asked him to accompany me. Now you want him to die?"
She walked quickly towards the door, but was stopped by the servant.
Yun Si looked at her back, his heart full of emotions. He didn't really care what she said, he cared about her actions.
And now, she was trying to push open that door for a dog.
Her voice rang out again, cold as ice: "You clearly know what kind of person I am, and you know that I hate you. Why do you always ask me to say those false words to coax you?"
Yun Si's heart twitched and he suddenly felt a little breathless.
"Habit has prevented me from expressing any emotion other than hatred," Jiang Li turned around and looked directly at him. "You gave Ah Feng a gift. If he dies, you will have destroyed more than just a dog."
These words made his heart skip a beat, and then began to beat wildly.
It was beating so hard that it was about to burst through the chest.
Yun Si met her gaze, suddenly stood up and rushed out the door.
When he opened the door, a dark curtain of rain suddenly unfolded. That was the first time that Jiang Li could truly see the world outside the door.
Yun Si looked around frantically. The rain was cold and heavy. He had to find the dog...
He stepped into the puddle and quickly stepped out, looking around. In the empty courtyard, there was no sign of any living creature.
Where did that dog go?
The rain was getting heavier, and a damp chill was blowing in my face, bringing with it a chill.
Jiang Li didn't actually have deep feelings for Afeng. But the way he approached, wagging his tail and trying to please her, inexplicably touched her. Growing up, she'd endured cold stares and insults, and had long been accustomed to rejecting others' advances. But Afeng's repeated, enthusiastic approach made her feel an unfamiliar warmth...
So, was Yun Si like this too? Seeing others clinging to her and trying to please her made her feel happy? Just like when he first captured her, she herself had to be humble and subservient...
Without Yun Si's order, the servants stood quietly by and silently guarded Jiang Li.
After an unknown amount of time, the food on the table had already gone cold, and the chill gradually seeped into her clothes.
There was suddenly a noise outside the door.
In the rain, a figure gradually became clear...
Yun Si was soaking wet, his hair still dripping with water, but a bright smile was on his face. The person he was holding tightly in his arms was none other than A Feng.
He stopped in front of Jiang Li, his voice filled with excitement: "I found it."
Jiang Li was stunned for a moment, unable to explain her feelings. The rain was pouring down outside, the crackling sound lingering in her ears, disturbing her heart.
Afeng in his arms let out a soft "wow" and trembled slightly.
She looked at his wet clothes and finally said, "Go take a hot bath..."
"Okay," Yun Si smiled and put the dog down. He turned and glanced at the servant, "But it's also wet. Let someone help wash it too."
Jiang Li nodded, and the servant at the door picked up Afeng and walked out.
The door closed, blocking out the noisy rain.
Yun Si took off his wet clothes and soaked in the hot water, his body gradually warming up. He looked at Jiang Li's worried back and breathed a sigh of relief...
The dog was actually found in the study. It was very clever and had avoided the heavy rain on its own. But he, shivering with cold, had to work so hard to find it!
Since he had suffered so much, he couldn't let it go to waste. So he simply dragged the dog out in the rain for a while longer before deliberately appearing in front of her, dripping wet.
Jiang Li's eyes at that moment were filled with heartache. I don't know if it was for the dog, or for him. Regardless, this self-torture trick had finally paid off.
"Cough cough cough..." He looked at Jiang Li who was in a daze, and suddenly coughed a few times deliberately.
"What's wrong with you?" Her voice came through the obstacles, with a hint of panic and helplessness.
Hearing Jiang Li's voice, Yun Si couldn't help but raise the corner of his mouth...
