Chapter 27 Nightmare
Lu Xiang suddenly raised her head, her face was pale and haggard, without any spirit at all. Her left face was destroyed, and the scar looked very hideous, which was frightening to see.
Even so, her pair of black eyes were still clear, beautiful and moving, but at this moment, a cold and bloodthirsty light flashed in her eyes, and she stared at the door with anger.
At the door of the shabby little house, a beautiful young woman was standing there.
Her black hair was like clouds, tied up in a bun at an angle, and her head was surrounded by pearls and jade. When the wind blew, the hair made a pleasant sound.
The woman had a pretty face, bright eyes, white teeth, and a complexion as white as jade. Her eyes showed countless charms. Behind her followed several maids and servants, all of them with respectful expressions.
However, when the servants saw the disheveled and ugly Lu Xiang in front of them, they all showed mockery in their eyes.
Mrs. Xiao, who was once high and mighty, ended up being a despised prisoner.
"Lu Mingzhu, Lu Mingzhu..." Lu Xiang gritted her teeth. She bit her lips tightly. Suddenly, a trace of red flowed out from her pale lips. The hatred in her eyes burned more and more vigorously.
Lu Mingzhu listened to Lu Xiang roaring her name like a wild beast. She was obviously extremely resentful towards her but she could not do anything about it. Suddenly, she felt a sense of superiority.
She patted her coat, which was not stained with snowflakes, and glanced at the room carelessly with her beautiful eyes. She looked at Lu Xiang with sympathy and said in a soft voice, "Brother Heng is really a fool. He actually let me live in such a shabby house. Look at the door and the window. I must be freezing. Someone, please bring in the charcoal basin to warm my wife up... Oh, I forgot that I have been divorced by Brother Heng and am no longer the mistress of the Xiao family."
Lu Mingzhu pretended to understand something, covered her mouth with her hands, and laughed so hard that she shook with laughter.
Soon, two maids came into the room carrying a charcoal brazier and placed it in front of Lu Xiang.
The choking smell of the burning charcoal went straight into Lu Xiang's nose, making her already frail body even more uncomfortable and causing her to cough continuously.
There is a pot on the charcoal basin. You can't see what's cooking inside, but you can hear the gurgling sound of boiling.
"Bah, no need for you to pretend to be kind." Lu Xiang sobbed and said angrily.
Lu Mingzhu stroked her hair elegantly, her eyes swept across Lu Xiang's angry face with arrogance, and she chuckled and said, "Look at what you said, sister. When have I ever been bad to you? I am not as cruel as you. Now everyone in the capital knows that you are the mistress of the Xiao family, but you are cruel and ruthless. You murdered me and even attacked my unborn child. You are really unworthy of being a human being. People as vicious as you should be tortured to death. It's really too easy for you to divorce me."
As Lu Mingzhu spoke, she slowly walked into the house. She went to the charcoal basin and stretched out her slender, jade-white hands to warm herself.
"You are talking nonsense. I didn't kill your child. You fell down by accident..." Halfway through his words, Lu Xiang seemed to understand something. His pupils suddenly shrank and he stared at Lu Mingzhu in astonishment: "You did it on purpose. You fell down on purpose and even used the child to frame me."
Lu Mingzhu's expression suddenly became stiff. The house was terrifyingly quiet and the howling cold wind outside could be clearly heard.
"You're right, I did it on purpose. You can't catch a wolf without sacrificing a child. Brother Heng said he would give me the position of legal wife, but he has been reluctant to divorce me. He has not made up his mind, so I will do it for him." She suppressed her voice and gritted her teeth, a ferocious look on her pretty face: When mentioning the dead child, Lu Mingzhu was even more grief-stricken for a moment.
Lu Xiang looked at the sorrow in Lu Mingzhu's eyes and felt it was extremely ironic.
"You actually...actually..."
Lu Xiang stared in panic, shocked. Lu Mingzhu was so vicious that she even killed her own child in order to frame her, even though he was just a piece of meat in Lu Mingzhu's belly.
"Where is Mu Heng? I want to see Mu Heng. I have been wronged. Let me see Mu Heng--" Lu Xiang suddenly shouted loudly. She kept struggling, and the iron chains that locked her made a harsh clanging sound.
"Tsk!" Lu Mingzhu suddenly sneered, her eyes like a thousand-year-old cold pond, chilling to the bone: "Sister, you are so naive. Brother Heng saw you push me with his own eyes, how can you say you are wronged?" As she spoke, she suddenly half-bent over and moved closer to Lu Xiang. Because she was so close, the stench emanating from Lu Xiang made Lu Mingzhu wrinkle her nose in disgust. She raised her hand, covered her mouth and nose with a handkerchief, and whispered in Lu Xiang's ear:
"I advise you to give up on this idea. You've been locked up here for so many days, and every day you've been clamoring to see Brother Heng to clarify your grievances. Even I know it, so how could Brother Heng not have heard it? In the final analysis, he doesn't see you, Lu Xiang, don't you understand? Brother Heng doesn't have you in his heart at all. When he was with me, the thing he talked about the most was that you were boring and disgusted him. I heard that you haven't slept together for three years since you got married. Don't you notice such obvious disgust at all? Ha, Lu Xiang, you are really stupid..."
Lu Mingzhu's voice was soft, gentle and very pleasant to the ear, but it was like a pair of invisible claws, tightly pinching Lu Xiang's neck, making it difficult for her to breathe.
"Shut up, it's impossible, he said he loved me, he..." Lu Xiang's already bloodless face became even paler, with shock and astonishment mixed in his eyes.
Although her tone was righteous, there was a sense of sadness in her voice.
As Lu Mingzhu spoke, many scenes that she had ignored gradually became clear, and finally became a sharp blade that cruelly cut open her chest, then dug out her true heart and trampled on the ground with blood.
Within a hundred days after his grandmother's death, Xiao Muheng married her. He said that he missed her so much that he couldn't wait for her to observe the three-year mourning period. He was worried that something unexpected might happen during these three years, so he couldn't wait to get Liu's consent to get married during the mourning period. His father listened to Liu in everything, and there was nothing Liu said that his father would not agree to.
On the day of the wedding, Xiao Muheng said that getting married at this time was a last resort, but now he was also the granddaughter-in-law of his grandmother, and he should observe the three years of mourning for his grandmother with her, so they lived in separate rooms for these three years. After all, they were already married, and they had a long time to live together, so they didn't care about these three years.
Lu Xiang was obsessed with him and would agree to whatever Xiao Muheng said.
But what is the truth?
The love that was once as deep as the sea has become a huge joke in this moment.
She thought that Xiao Muheng doted on her and loved her, and didn't touch her in order to prevent her from being labeled as unfilial. She didn't expect that he hated her from the beginning to the end.
If Xiao Muheng really had feelings for her, why would he lock her up without listening to any of her explanations and without even finding out the reason?
Without Xiao Muheng's approval, how dare the servants torture and humiliate her?
She was immersed in the feelings woven by Xiao Muheng and was unwilling to wake up, so she was deceiving herself.
Now that she had awakened from the dream, countless images suddenly emerged in Lu Xiangning's mind. Over the years, Xiao Muheng's eyes had always shown a hint of disgust when he looked at her, but she was so immersed in the lies he had woven that she had never noticed it. However, at this moment, that look of disgust became clearer and clearer in her mind, and she suddenly realized something.
