Chapter 64 [VIP]

Chapter 64 [VIP]

Chenmian smiled shyly, opened her lips and said "okay", then said she was a little tired and wanted to go back to rest.

Zong Bingwen stared at him for a long time, still uneasy: "What if he..."

Chenmian interrupted the unfinished sentence, "No, we had a fight."

"Oh, okay," Zong Bingwen said dryly. "Then can you come out tomorrow? I want to go on a date with you." He blushed slightly.

Chenmian smiled as she looked at the man's expression, feeling that she had probably fooled him enough. Her mood improved somewhat, and she nodded.

Back home, the door was still wide open, and Shen Ci sat strutting on the sofa, his expression furious.

Chenmian closed the door, stood at the doorway and sent a message to Zong Bingwen, then pretended not to see it and walked into the room on her own.

"Chenmian!" Shen Ci called out to him from behind, catching up with him in three quick steps. "What did you and him do?"

He said urgently, "I saw it all! You were holding hands as you came back downstairs!"

Chenmian's eyelids twitched. "Didn't I tell you not to follow me?"

"I saw it in the kitchen." Shen Ci felt a little aggrieved, but mostly annoyed. "What did you say or do to him?"

"It's nothing," Chenmian said with an innocent expression. "I just explained it to you. Please stop making a fuss, okay?"

Although he was indeed making a scene, upon hearing the second half of Chen Mian's sentence, Chen Ci felt his scalp tingle for some reason, and an inexplicable anger surged within him.

"How could Zong Bingwen be like this! I kissed you, do you think he'd listen to your nonsense?"

"He likes me, what can I do?" Chen Mian remained unmoved, pulling her hand out of Chen Ci's palm and shoving the person in front of her. "Don't mess around. If you make Zong Bingwen angry and expose our affair, we're doomed."

Shen Ci's heart pounded: "Exposed? What did they have? They only kissed a few times, didn't they?"

Chenmian glared at him: "You must be out of your mind. If you like boys, go find them outside. Why would you think of me? Besides, I used to be your brother, then I was Lin Langli's boyfriend, and now I'm with Zong Bingwen. You shouldn't be like this at all."

"...Who told you to call him about this?" Shen Ci actually had the nerve to be indignant. "You forced me to be the other woman, what could I do? When I confessed my feelings to you, you were still single. In the end, he's the other woman!"

Chenmian couldn't help but argue with him again: "What nonsense are you talking about? The premise of a third party is that there must be a real relationship, okay? What kind of relationship do we have?"

“I kissed you! And,” Shen Ci hesitated for a moment, perhaps feeling guilty himself, before continuing, “Zong Bingwen would be angry if he knew our relationship wasn’t right, but I know you didn’t get angry when you were with him, and you even listened to me and didn’t cause trouble. So, it’s clear who likes you more and treats you better right now!”

Unable to bear it any longer, Chenmian slapped him across the face.

The blow wasn't strong, and Shen Ci endured it, suppressing his instinct to dodge.

After hitting her, she covered her face and looked aggrieved.

Shenmian vaguely sensed something was wrong, feeling that Shen Ci had become a cunning scholar, but the person in front of him had indeed been slapped, with a few red marks on his handsome face. Not to mention that after being slapped, Shen Ci lowered his head, holding onto his clothes with one hand, looking dejected and pitiful.

He took a deep breath, pulled the man's hand away, and went back to his room with a stern face.

Not long after, perhaps remembering what had happened in the room, Chenmian came out again with her pillow, and slid off to the guest room in her slippers.

Shen Ci went to the room where he was sleeping and took a look.

The ambiguous atmosphere had long since dissipated, but the bed sheets were in a mess, and one could still vaguely see the position in which the two of them had kissed on them.

How could Chenmian's lips be so soft and tender? When he forcibly kissed her, her eyes were unfocused, her pupils were unfocused, and she was sadly shedding tears, making her want him to bully her even more.

Recalling all this, Shen Ci blushed as she changed the sheets and duvet cover, put them in the washing machine with plenty of detergent, laid out a clean four-piece bedding set, and then ran to knock on the door of Chenmian's guest room.

"Chenmian, go back to your room and sleep. I've changed your sheets. I promise I won't bother you anymore."

The door was slammed shut with a loud thud, followed by an angry voice from the boy: "Get out of here!"

Shen Ci returned to his room, feeling uneasy.

The next morning, while it was still barely light, Shen Ci woke up and couldn't fall back asleep. He figured that given Shen Mian's lifestyle, she definitely wouldn't get up for breakfast.

But how can he see Chenmian if he doesn't eat breakfast?

After thinking for a while, Shen Ci sneakily took out the keys to all the rooms in the house and secretly entered Shen Mian's room.

He had no intention of doing anything bad to Shen Mian. After entering the room, he simply sat on the edge of the boy's bed and watched quietly.

After watching for a while, Shen Ci finally noticed something was wrong from the boy's flushed face. He turned cold, leaned down, and touched Shen Mian's forehead with the back of his hand.

His forehead was burning hot, and one touch told Shen Ci that he had a fever.

It's all his fault. Last night, when Chenmian and Zong Bingwen went downstairs, he didn't even think to bring a thick coat for the boy to wear.

That Zong Bingwen was the same; he had no tact whatsoever. He just draped a coat over Chen Mian's body, but what about her calves? What about her feet?

Shen Ci was sullen, and her cool hand slid down to the boy's face, which was just as warm.

He turned and left the room to prepare medicine for Chenmian, and brought back a thermometer with him.

He was half asleep when he suddenly felt a cold sensation under his armpits. He woke up with a start and saw Shen Ci wiping his face with a wet towel, his face stern.

A cool towel was gently applied to her face. Chenmian couldn't speak, but coughed softly.

Shen Ci then brought over the medicine and water from the side and held it to his lips: "Mianmian, you're sick."

Chenmian first took a sip of water, then finished the medicine, and then went back to drink two more sips of water.

“I,” her throat felt dry and sore, and just as she was about to speak, she was overwhelmed by the illness that gripped her body, “I don’t want to get an injection.”

He said this first: "I don't want injections, I'll just take medicine."

It felt like I was back in my childhood, before I had my final major surgery. I was constantly getting minor illnesses, either on IV drips or injections, and spent most of my time listlessly in bed.

After playing wildly outside, Shen Ci was pulled aside by the nanny and whispered to her when she came back: "Xiao Ci, Mianmian is not healthy and cannot walk around. Don't say these things in front of him."

Everyone said back then that it was because Shen Ci stole Chen Mian's nutrients while she was in his belly that one was born sickly, while the other was lively, clever and quick-witted.

After hearing these words many times, Shen Ci gradually became much quieter. Instead of always playing with other children outside, he would go to the ward to see Shen Mian as soon as school was over and tell Shen Mian about what happened at school.

Chenmian nestled pitifully in his arms, her long hair cascading over his chest, and whispered that she also wanted to go out and play.

Shen Ci was stunned, and said to him, "Play with me, Chen Mian."

The little boy in his arms gently hit him, then said, "Shen Ci, you've always been my best friend."

Later, Shenmian's health improved a bit, and she was finally able to go to school normally. The two were specially placed in the same class. Shenmian looked no different from a doll, and she had long, smooth hair. Her family dressed her up exceptionally beautifully.

The girls liked to play with Shen Mian, and the boys were no exception. At school, Shen Mian was surrounded by others every day. If he said something casually in class, ten people would rush to respond.

Shen Ci felt a little resentful, feeling that Shen Mian had wronged him a lot—he had stopped playing with other children because of Shen Mian, while Shen Mian was always flirting with other girls at school, which was really unfair.

Chenmian only showed a little favoritism towards Shen Ci, the kind of favoritism where she treated him like a servant.

Wherever Chenmian goes, she will call upon Chenci to go with her.

One trip wasn't enough; he always had to be carried on Shen Ci's back, acting incredibly spoiled.

At that time, Shen Ci was unwilling to be ordered around by her older brother in front of her classmates, so she refused with a cold expression.

Chenmian was stunned, then her round eyes drooped down, and she whispered an accusation: "You're not going to be with me anymore."

The other classmates nearby were heartbroken and rushed to wipe away Chenmian's tears, offering to carry her on their backs.

Shen Ci couldn't stand it anymore. With a cold face, he walked up and half-squatted down, saying, "You're not allowed to let anyone carry you. Get on."

With tears still in her eyes, she happily climbed onto his back.

After school, when he got home, Chenmian put down his schoolbag and snuggled into Chenmianjun Su Yueqiu's arms, wanting his mother to hold him and rock him around, and wanting his father to lift him up high.

Shen Ci watched from the side, and Chen Mian called to him, "Little brother, come here, Daddy can hold another one."

Shen Ci turned his face away and said that he was already a big kid and didn't want his family to hug and kiss him.

Chenmian jumped off Chenmianjun in a huff, leaned close to him and deliberately gave him a loud kiss, saying smugly, "I'm going to kiss you, hmph."

Shen Ci blushed and ran away. After a while, as if remembering something, he ran back, grabbed Shen Mian's small hand that was still there, and said seriously, "You can't kiss me like that in public, and you're not allowed to kiss anyone else, understand?"

After he finished speaking, he saw that the boy's eyes were darting around, and he knew that the boy must not have listened to him, or he must have listened but was harboring some other bad intentions.

Sure enough, not long after, at school, Shen Ci saw Shen Mian being so affectionate with someone else, speaking to them in the same sweet tone he usually used when talking to him: "You're so amazing, can you finish the rest for me?"

Shen Ci walked up to him with a sour face, pulled away the boy who looked innocent and pure, and asked in a very bad tone, "Didn't I tell you not to kiss other people?"

“But,” Chenmian said, “I’ve discovered that if I kiss him, he’ll do things for me. He even helps me with my homework.”

Shen Ci said coldly, "You're not allowed to kiss him, and you're not allowed to kiss anyone else. If you don't want to do something in the future, just call me." He paused, and under Shen Mian's expectant gaze, continued, "I'll also help you with your homework."

"Mmm." Chenmian nodded quickly in agreement.

Much later, when Shen Ci recalled this matter, he belatedly realized that Shen Mian probably had this idea all along.

And he was so foolish, he easily became stupid when he was with Shen Mian, and thus fell into Shen Mian's trap.

But what good does it do to understand?

Shen Ci looked at the boy sleeping in his arms, sighed softly, reached over the small blanket next to him and covered Shen Mian with it, then poked the boy's chubby cheeks and touched the boy's long, curly eyelashes before continuing to do the rest of his homework.
